Bloggers Challenge – Sketch

Today’s Bloggers’ Challenge was to use this sketch as inspiration.  Mine is truly the "thought" of the sketch, because I certainly didn’t follow it exactly!  However, what I wanted to do wasn’t working…and this was…so here it is!  I’m also combining this challenge with the Christmas in July one going on over at Late Night Stampers.

I started with a base of Taken with Teal cardstock, inspired by the Holiday Lounge Designer Paper.  I used the Real Red print for the top half of my card.  It is hard to see in this picture, but the snowflakes are punched with the NEW snowflake punch out of Whisper White Faux Diamond Dust paper.  (To make Faux Diamond Dust, run your Versamark pad directly over the cardstock, then add Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder and heat set.  It is wonderful to use with punches!)  I added the same technique to the center of each silver Jumbo Brad by applying the Versamark to the brad and then the Iridescent Ice EP.  I lined up the trio of snowflakes across the seam of the DSP to hide it.  Finally I stamped Merry Christmas from All Holidays in Basic Black in the lower right corner.

Very simple card…would be easy to duplicate for Christmas cards!

Make sure to check out the rest of the players’ Bloggers Challenge cards today!

SNSS – Blog Hop! Blog Candy Winner!

Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps is having a Blog Hop this week!  The theme is "Walk on the Wild Side".  For my contribution, I used a cute set, Doodle Birds!  I love this bird and the saying in it, "Strut Your Stuff"!  I thought that it was appropriate for the theme, too!  I can’t wait to send this off as a birthday card to someone!

I started by stamping the bird with Memories Tuxedo Black ink on Neehan Solar White paper and coloring it with my Copics Sketch markers in three different shades of yellow.  I also highlighted the word "stuff" with the Copic marker.  I added W-1 gray around the outside of the image and along the ground to make it pop.

I layered the White on Stampin’ Up!’s Regal Rose and then So Saffron cardstock.  I used two different patterns from Stampin’ Up!’s Georgia Peach Designer Paper series, and hid the seam with some 5/8 So Saffron Grosgrain Ribbon.  All this was added to the base card of So Saffron cardstock.

Finally, I ran Regal Rose and So Saffron cardstock thru my Big Shot with the Daisies #2 die, and added a white Jumbo Eyelet in the center of the flower.  It is popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals in the upper right corner.

Come join the fun and take a WALK ON THE WILD SIDE with the Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps Design Team Blog Hop!

Holiday Lineup

I hope you enjoyed the Royal Blog Tour over the past couple days!  I was gone over the weekend, but able to keep track on my laptop of all the comments.  I will be naming a winner of my Blog Candy on Thursday, July 30th!

I’m still stamping in my Christmas mode!  This card was made for the Design Team Christmas in July challenge over on Late Night Stampers!

I started with stamping the Holiday Lineup image with Basic Black on Whisper White.  I used my Real Red, Sahara Sand and Bermuda Bay Stampin’ Up! markers to color in the images.  I layered it on Real Red and then Bermuda Bay cardstock.  I took my colors from the Holiday Lounge Designer Paper (although it mentions Taken with Teal as the color in the DSP, I felt the Bermuda Bay blended well enough to use it!)  I layered of piece of the DSP on Real Red, then the base of Bermuda Bay, adding a length of Kraft Taffeta Ribbon to hide the seam.  Finally, I added the new Snowflake Punch from Sahara Sand and centered with the Red Rhinestone Brad in the upper left corner!  The stamped element was placed on top with Dimensionals.

FUN card!  I love it!

I’m still getting ready for Convention!  I did get some swap cards done while riding in the car for 12 hours each way!  But, I still have a crazy couple weeks coming up!  I plan on getting several posts done before I go…but it will be WILD around here!  lol!

Royal Blog Tour

The Royal Blog Tour was certainly a HUGE success!  Thank you all for stopping by!  I’ll be posting my Blog Candy winner on Thursday, July 30th!  Stay tuned!

Wow!  The Royal Blog Tour is finally here!  I’m excited to be able to show you some samples from the new Stampin’ Up! set, Wedding Sweet!  This set was on my to-buy list even before my son announced his engagement a few weeks ago.  Now, I’m sure I will be using it a LOT! This first sample shows the elegance of the Wedding Sweet set used in a frame to commemorate the wedding of a family friends’ daughter!  It shows off the elegance of this set by using Black Craft embossed on Shimmer Paper.

My second sample shows that this set isn’t just for weddings!  Here is a cheerful Thank You card appropriate for any occasion!  It uses two of the stamps in Wedding Sweet.

My final sample is a playful Note Card!  I will be using a variation of this for my swap card at Convention this year!  This sample uses three out of the six new In Colors along with the large stamp in Wedding Sweet!

If you like what you see today, make sure to put my Blog in your favorites and visit often.  You can also subscribe to my Blog and get my new posts in your email so you don’t miss anything!  See my subscribe box in the upper left corner.

I’m also offering BLOG CANDY in celebration of the Royal Blog Tour!  You’ll receive the Stampin’ Up! stamp set, Sweet Dreams, shown here AND one of my Wedding Sweet swap Note Cards!  This Blog Candy is available to anyone who leaves a comment telling me which project is their favorite with their email contact information.  U.S. residents only, please.

Stamping 411 – Autumn Days

This set, Autumn Days, was one Demos could preorder.  I ordered it, but then never really played with it until today’s Stamping 411 sketch challenge card!

I started with a base of Always Artichoke cardstock, then layered the print leaves pattern from Autumn Traditions Designer Paper.  I added a Scallop Edge border under the top of the DSP, then some 1/4 Grosgrain Chocolate Chip ribbon to hide the seam.

I stamped the Pheasant in Basic Brown on Kraft cardstock and distressed the edges with my Cutter Kit Distressing Tool.  I sponged the edges with Basic Brown ink, too.  I layered it on More Mustard and did the same distressing and sponging, then layered it on a slightly larger Elegant Eggplant.  I wanted to leave room on this layer for the two Very Vanilla Jumbo Brads.

I like the "rustic" feel of this card!  It reminds me of growing up on the farm!

We’d love for you to play along with use.  Use the sketch and post your entry to Mr. Linky on Stamping 411 website!

Bloggers Challenge 109 – Christmas in July

I love Christmas in July challenges!  It gets me thinking about this year’s cards and what I may want to do.  I have a TON of Christmas stamp sets, so sometimes it is hard to narrow it down to want I want to do.  I always do my Christmas cards at the Fall Stamping Retreat I attend.  This year it is at the end of October vs. mid November, so I’m going to need an even earlier start!

I love the Medallion Background stamp in the new catalog!  I’ve had this idea in my head for a while, but finally had a chance to get it out into a card!  I stamped the Medallion BG on Bermuda Bay with White Craft Ink and embossed with White EP…wow, does that white POP off that Bermuda Bay color!  Next, I stamped the Snowmen from The More the Merrier Level 3 Hostess Set (omit stamped) with Basic Black marker on Whisper White, so I only had the trio of 3 again.  Colored them with the Real Red and Bermuda Bay markers.  Then I punched it with the 1 3/4 Circle.  I used the Circle Bigz Die to cut out the Real Red cardstock to layer behind it.  It is all popped up on Dimensionals.  Finally, I added the Real Red striped ribbon in the upper right corner and the Winter Wishes (warm was cut off) I made as a little banner under the center element!  Fun!  I love how it turned out!

Hope you check out the rest of the Bloggers to see what they’ve done.  I know I’ll get LOTS of inspiration!

LOTS going on this weekend!  I’ll be gone a few days, but have already set my posts…hopefully all will go well with them.

Remember to check out Stamping 411 sketch challenge on Saturday and the Royal Blog Tour begins on Sunday!

SNSS – In His Time

This week’s SNSS card uses Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps, In His Time.  A beautiful set with a variety of butterflies and verses!

I decided to go with some soft shades when making this card.  I stamped the SNSS Butterfly with Basic Black ink on Whisper White cardstock and used my Stampin’ Pastels to softly color the butterfly in shades of So Saffron, Almost Amethyst and Pretty in Pink.  I cut out the butterfly, and layered it on different sizes of Circle and Scallop punches.  I used the Stampin’ Up! Designer Prints in the background and tied some White Striped Organdy Ribbon around the front.

Enjoy!

Thoughts and Prayers

Wow…a LOT of you enjoyed the Tour de Freaks Blog Tour over the past couple days!  Thank you for stopping by!  Stay tuned…the next one is August 20th from your favorite Control Freak Swappers!

Over on Late Night Stampers, the challenge this week is using Pink and Black on your cards!  Personally…one of my favorite color combinations!  I decided to pull out one of my favorite sets, Thoughts & Prayers, and a fun technique, Pierced Spotlighting!  I added a twist to the spotlighting, though.

First I stamped the branch image in Basic Black on Whisper White and layered it on Melon Mambo…one of the new In Colors!  Then I used my Pick A Petal Brass Stencil and Piercing Tool to pierce around an area highlighting the flowers.  I punched a 1 1/4 circle on a post it note, placed it over the pierced circle area and sponged a little Pretty in Pink ink with my Sponge Dauber just in that area (the twist!)  I used the Melon Mambo marker to color the small flowers.  Adding that sponging made the spotlighted area pop even more!  I added Thinking of You with Melon Mambo ink.

I finished the card by layering the focal element on Basic Black.  I used a base of Pretty in Pink cardstock and layered some Raspberry Lemonade Designer Paper along the left side and added the Pretty in Pink striped ribbon.  The focal element was placed on the front with Dimensionals.

Pretty simple card…easy to put together and mass produce.  I like those!

Hope you have a great day!  A little cloudy and rainy today, but we needed it!

Happy birthday to my upline, Candy!!!!

Tour de Freaks Blog Tour!

It’s time again for the Tour de Freaks Blog Tour, this is Stop #1.  You may have just come from our fabulous Control Freaks Swap Mom, Lisa Martz’s blog…welcome to my blog, Inkspired Treasures!  At the bottom of this post, you will be directed to the next blog stop, the awesome Mary Brown!  There is a total of 12 stops on this month’s tour.

Our topic of the month is NEW stamp sets in the NEW catalog!  I’ve fallen in love with several sets and I’m excited to see the ideas the gals have come up with showcasing these sets!  I know I’ll have several more sets on my wishlist when I’m done with the Tour!

My first card starts out with one of the first sets I had on my wish list, Herb Expressions!  This is such a VERSATILE set with the images and verses it contains.  This card is 5 1/4 x 5 1/4 and uses two of the new In Colors!  For my focal element, I cut an oval template from the Oval Shapes die with my Big Shot and used the reverse image to sponge So Saffron in an oval shape on Whisper White.  Then I stamped the "I’m Here for You…" verse in Basic Black in the center of the oval.  I over stamped the Thyme image with More Mustard within the oval, too, so it stays as a background behind the verse.  I punched the corners of the Whisper White with the Ticket Corner Punch and layered it on Crushed Curry, punched the corners of that layer, too. I started with a base card of Crushed Curry and added a layer of Dusty Durango.  I used some of the designer paper from Razzleberry Lemonade and layered it on Dusty Durango.  Then I wrapped two lengths of Crushed Curry Polka Dot Ribbon and adhered to the back of the Dusty Durango.  I colored the silk flower from the Pretties Kit with Dusty Durango and Crushed Curry reinkers, then added a Crystal Rhinestone brad in the center.  It is popped up with Dimensionals on the front of the card.

My next card is a sneak peak for Christmas!  Everyone who knows me, knows that I love snowmen!  My house is decorated with them from the day after Thanksgiving until the end of February.  So, of course, the minute I saw the new Level 3 Hostess Set, The More the Merrier, I just HAD to have it!  Luckily, Stampin’ Up! allows demos to preorder one of the Level 2 and Level 3 sets before the new catalog takes effect, so I’ve had this gem in my hands for a while!

One of the things I wanted to do is to make a Snowglobe from the Snowmen.  The images of the 5 snowmen was just a little too large for my 1 3/4 Circle Punch, so I used the marker omit technique and only inked up three of the snowmen with my black marker.  Then is used the colors from the Holiday Lounge Designer Paper (Taken with Teal, Real Red) and colored their scarves and hats with my markers.  For the base of the snowglobe, I inked up Warm Winter Wishes from Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set and  used the NEW Modern Label Punch (doesn’t it look like a real base?) to punch it out.  At the bottom, I layered the Holiday Lounge Designer Paper onto Kraft cardstock, then a layer of Real Red.  I wrapped some 5/8 Real Red Grosgrain Ribbon and tied a knot in the front to hide the seam.  I also added a couple Real Red Square Rhinestone Brads to the bottom right corner.  Finally, I added my little snowglobe to the top with dimensionals and adhered everything to the base card of Taken With Teal!  I’m thinking that this just might be my Christmas Card this year!  Too fun!

Finally, I’ve included something for the kids.  Except that I’ll be the one carrying this around in my purse!  I’m always needing something to take notes on.  I like this pad of paper because it doesn’t have lines on it…this allows me to make sketches for designs if something catches my eye while I’m out shopping!  (Yes, I really do scribble on the backs of receipts, etc., when I spot an idea!)

This picture shows how I made a folder to surround the paper pad and covered the outside with the new Tall Tales Designer Paper…the whales are just too cute!  The DSP was layered onto So Saffron cardstock that I scored to size around the pad of paper.  I added the reverse Stripe print from the same DSP on the bottom and wrapped some Chocolate Chip 1/4 grosgrain ribbon around to the back to secure.  I added a Filigree Brad.  Then I inked up the whale image from Animal Stories stamp set in Close to Cocoa Craft ink and embossed with Clear Embossing Powder on So Saffron cardstock.  I punched it with the 1 3/4 circle punch.  I layered it on the Whisper White Scallop Circles cut with the Pennant XL Die on my Big Shot.  I LOVE how the scallops are large enough to fit behind the 1 3/4 circle punch!  I also used the same Tall Tails Designer Paper to decorate the inside of the folder.

Of course, if I were to give it as a gift, I’d need a card to go with it.  So I created a little 4×4 card in the same design to go with my little memo pad holder!  Just for You is from the Teeny Tiny Words stamp set.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my creations and bookmark my site in your Favorites file.  Or, sign up to receive email updates in the upper left corner.  It emails you every time I post something new!

Next stop is the awesome, Mary Brown!  I’m sure she will WOW you with her creations!

Have a great day!
