I recently held a stamp camp using Mixed Bunch and the Blossom Punch (remember the little favors with the Hershey Kisses in the center?  You can see them HERE!)   This is one of the cards we did.  I love the colors in it…so bright and intense and really set off with the Basic Black accents!

The base of the card is Wisteria Wonder.  I added a layer of Basic Black.  On the Whisper White layer, I added blocks of Berry Blossoms Designer Paper.  I wrapped the Lucky Limeade Ruffled Ribbon around to the back and secured.  I stamped the Mixed Bunch flower with Wisteria Wonder ink on Wisteria Wonder cardstock, then punched them out.  I added a trio of little flowers from the Boho Blossoms punch in Lucky Limeade in the center and then a wonderful Black Glimmer Brad.  I punched the Blossom punch flower again and cut off two of the petals for the leaves in Lucky Limeade.  It is tucked under the flower that is popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals.  Finally, I stamped Get Well Soon in Basic Black from the stamp set, Delightful Dozen.

Overall, a pretty quick and easy card with lots of pop!  I love it!

Mixed Bunch

NOTE:  Check out the retired stamps I've listed in the post HERE

I added some new ones this morning!

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

I'm having so much fun with Stampin' Up!'s stamp set, Mixed Bunch.  Making favors and butterflies…it is much more than a flower set!

I made this card for a one-on-one card challenge.  We only make one and send it off to our partner.  I hope she liked it!

I started with a base of Poppy Parade and added Whisper White.  I used a couple different patterns in the Everyday Enchantment Sale-A-Bration Designer Paper and layered them on top.  I cut a strip of Lucky Limeade cardstock and stamped Friend on it, then added some Crochet Trim and tied a knot.  I stamped the flower in Poppy Parade and punched it out with the Blossom Punch, punched another from Poppy Parade cardstock, then layered some Boho Blossom punched flowers of Poppy Parade, Whisper White and Peach Parfait in the center with a Glimmer Brad.  Finally, I punched the Blossom from Lucky Limeade cardstock, textured it with the Finial Press Folder, and cut off two petals for leaves.  I popped up the flower on the front of the card.

Have a great week!  I'm counting down the days to go to my semi-annual stamping retreat!  WOOHOO!!!

CCMC-OCC6 – Rue Des Fleurs

Wow…can you believe we've come to the end of the Occasions 2012 Edition of Create with Connie and Mary!  It has been SO fun unveiling all the Design team projects every day.  And WOW!!!  Some really great ideas…we hope you thought so, too!  I can't wait to make up some of their ideas myself!  We'll be back soon for the New Catalog 2012 Edition!

Our last Challenge for the Occasions Edition is for the Design Team Members…we used a fabulous sketch!  I know I'll be using this one again!

I used Rue Des Fleurs for my card, one of the sets we've been featuring this week in the Occasions Edition!  I'm really liking this set, but the corset is one of my favorites!

I started with a base of Pool Party and sponged around the edges with Soft Suede Ink.  I cut a piece of the Attic Boutique Designer Paper for the background and layered it on Soft Suede.  I stamped the corset from Rue Des Fleurs in Soft Suede, then lightly colored the flowers in Pool Party and So Saffron.  I used the Labels Collection Framelit to cut it out and layered on the larger size of Soft Suede.  The edges were sponged again with Soft Suede.  I added the string of pearls for the top and the bottom and bent them to fit the curve of the label.  This was popped up on the front with Stampin' Dimensionals.  I punched the flowers with the Boho Blossoms punch in So Saffron and Soft Suede and layered them together, using a brown Glimmer Brad in the center.  Finally, I stamped Thanks for the same set in Soft Suede on a pennant piece.  I love the vintage feel to this card…and I don't "do" vintage very often!  lol!

Make sure to check out what the rest of the Design Team did with this sketch this week over on Create with Connie and Mary!

CCMC190 – Rue Des Fleurs

We're hosting a sketch challenge this week on Create with Connie and Mary and everyone can play along!  Come join us this week!

I pulled out a new set, Rue Des Fleurs, for me (from the Occasions Mini) and put it together in order to make this card.  I think my favorite image is this pen…although I do like the corset, too!

I started with a base of Pool Party and layered on Soft Suede cardstock.  Then I added the floral pattern from Attic Boutique Designer Paper…so pretty!  I stamped the pen in Soft Suede and then the Thanks greeting, also in Rue Des Fleurs, in Calypso Coral on Whisper White cardstock.  Behind it I punched two Decorative Label Punches from Calypso Coral and layered them behind the Whisper White.  On the left side I punched a hole with the Crop A Dile and wrapped the Pool Party Ruffled Ribbon around and tied it with the Calypso Coral Bakers Twine.  On the right one, I added a trio of Pearls.  That element is mounted on Soft Suede that I ran thru the Big Shot with Finial Press Folder.

Make sure to check out what the rest of the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge Team has done this week!  There are some wonderful ideas for you!  We are finishing up the LAST week of Create with Connie and Mary Occasions Edition 2012, and it's not too late to join!  Our website stays up a year after the Edition is over.  For 36 step by step PHOTO tutorials at a cost of $34.95 US…that's less than $1 per tutorial!  Lots of great ideas for gifts, classes or stamp camps!  Join us!

February Tour de Freaks!

It's time!  TIme for the monthly Tour de Freaks!  You are in for a treat..our theme this month is The Cutting Edge….using Dies in the Big Shot…all the Control Freak Swappers are using the Big Shot to bring you some FABULOUS projects on this tour!   I'm sure you will enjoy them all!   You've probably just come from Yvette Ashe's blog…weren't her projects wonderful?  If you are arriving here prior to February 20th, please note that not all links may be working yet.

My first Big Shot card is an adaption of one that I took to Leadership with me for swap cards.  It uses the Fashionable Hearts Embosslit (one of my FAV items from the Occasions Mini!).  But instead of only ONE flower, I made THREE going across the card!

To make the flowers, the largest Old Olive heart is cut in half and reversed for the leaves.  Then I stacked up the Poppy Parade, Calypso Coral and Daffodil Delight hearts on top.  There is a rhinestone jewel on one of the hearts for some added bling.  I cut some "grass" from Old Olive with my Paper Snips.  Then added a banner from Take It to Heart  stamp set and the Wonderful You greeting from Loving Thoughts.  Calypso Coral is embossed with the Vintage Wallpaper Folder and Everyday Enchantment DSP layered on top.

My second card is an Anniversary card for my mother and father-in-law.  I used the layout from a card that Cassy, my roommate at Leadership, gave me.  I used four different patterns from the Attic Boutique Designer Paper.  Four Frames stamp set has a beautiful filigree image that goes SO well with this DSP.

The base is Daffodil Delight, sponged with Soft Suede ink.  Then a layer of Soft Suede that I used the Piercing Tool in the corners.  Along the sides of the Label Framelit are two Decorative Label Punches.  The Soft Suede Taffeta Ribbon hides the seam of the designer papers when I cut them in half.   A bow and some pearls completes the vintage feel of the card!

My next project I've been wanting to do for a while!  It really is more impressive in real life than the photo shows.  Remember when you look at this that the flower is over 17" wide!  I put the ruler up on the wall to prove it!   I've seen the trend of hanging several of these flowers against the wall behind a reception table.  I didn't have time to make more than one, but I think a wall of them staggered across would be awesome!

Can you tell what I made it from?  If you guessed the Dresden Designs Bigz Die…you are right.  The center portion I used the large die petal from Everyday Enchantment Designer Paper, folded the end a little bit to make it shorter.  The center is a styrofoam ball cut in half and wrapped with more designer paper.  I had to use straight pins to hold the designer paper in place on the back side.  I soft folded the petals to give them a little dimension.  The smaller inside flower is adhered to the back Pool Party flower with Stampin' Dimensionals.  To get the fullness in the back flower, I scored the piece of cardstock in half before I ran it thru the die, then opened it up and adhered them side by side.  It took 8 sheets of cardstock to make it this full.  In the back I added a 2 1/2" Circle to cover the back of the styrofoam ball and flower, then pinned a length of Pool Party Seam Binding Ribbon for the hanger.  I added another 2 1/2" Circle to hide the pin and ribbon ends.

Next stop on the Tour de Freaks is Mary Brown at StamperCamper's Cornerher projects are DARLING.  Continue on around all 13 stops for some fantastic ideas!

CCMC-OCC5 Send Me Soaring

We have a FUN color challenge over on Create with Connie and Mary Occasions Edition 2012 for our subscribers!  They can enter to win one of two FREE subscriptions to the next edition of Create with Connie and Mary just by playing along!  It's not too late for you to play along, too!  We are entering into our sixth week, but you'll still have access to ALL the projects we've done so far…and our website stays up a YEAR after the session has ended!  So…what are you waiting for?  Join today!

Aren't the colors of Soft Suede, Pool Party and Wisteria Wonder so nice and soothing?  Very pretty!  I thought of the sky when I first saw this color challenge…so I used Send Me Soaring stamp set.  Hopefully we'll be seeing some of those March winds  (and milder temperatures!) soon in Ohio!

I started with a base of Wisteria Wonder.  I added Wisteria Wonder Patterns Designer Paper to the Whisper White layer, and added a Dotted Scallop Border of Pool Party under the DSP.  I wrapped some Pool Party Ruffled Ribbon around and tied a knot.  I stamped the kites on Whisper White with all three colors, and added a Rhinestone Jewel at the base of the kite where it meets the string (hides the fact that I didn't get the string quite in the right place!  lol)  I made a "ground" of Pool Party and stamped some clouds in Pool Party, too.  Finally, I stamped the greeting in Soft Suede and punched with the 1" Circle punch and layered on the 1 3/8" punched circle of Pool Party cardstock.

Make sure to check what the rest of the Design Team did with this challenge over on Create with Connie and Mary!  Hope you have a wonderful weekend.  I have some major decisions to make on my cabinets…we are down to the wire to order!

Mixed Bunch special fold card

I never showed my Control Freaks swap card for the Occasions Mini!  I actually was holding onto it because I knew I wanted to use the design for my Blossom Punch Stamp Camp that was earlier this week.  I revamped my swap card a little bit…used a different flower from this one, but the look is the same.

Here is a look of it closed.  The front flap fits under the Mixed Bunch flower to hold it closed.  I only used two Stampin' Dimensionals under the left side of the flower to secure it to the inside base of the card.  The base Pool Party is 4 1/4 x 9 1/2", scored at 5 1/2" (** see my thought below**).  I used the Perfect Polka Dots on the shorter front piece, then added the Everyday Enchantment Designer Paper, layered on Poppy Parade cardstock.  The greeting from Happiest Birthday Wishes (hostess only set) was stamped in Lucky Limeade on Very Vanilla and added to the front panel.

Here it is open:

On the back panel, I stamped the Mixed Bunch open flower randomly with Pool Party Classic Ink on the Pool Party cardstock for a little tone-on-tone look.  The Mixed Bunch filigree flower was stamped with Poppy Parade on Very Vanilla, then punched with the Blossom Punch.  I also punched a flower from Poppy Parade cardstock to layer under the filigree one.  I stamped the circle center with Pool Party and punched with the 3/4" Circle Punch.  In the center, there is a clear button tied in a bow with Lucky Limeade Bakers Twine.  I also stamped the filigree flower in Lucky Limeade on Very Vanilla, then punched it and cut it into pieces for the leaves in the background.

**I had a thought after I had already made this for the swap and my class.  Instead of cutting off the 1 1/2" on the front, score it instead and form a pocket when it is folded back on itself (so score the 4 1/2 x 11 sheet at 1 1/2 & 5 1/2).  Then it would have a great place to hold a gift card!!!  I'll be making a bunch of these style cards in the future!

CCMC-189 Gnome Sweet Gnome

We have a color challenge for you to try over on Create with Connie and Mary this week!  It is nice and BRIGHT for these dreary winter days!  We're using Melon Mambo, Chocolate Chip and Lucky Limeade!

I must admit…I wasn't too sure about the Gnome Sweet Gnome set when I first got it FREE for a Stampin' Up! incentive that I participated in.  But…it is really growing on me!  They are completely adorable (and if you are a subscriber to the Create with Connie and Mary Occasions Edition, you saw Carrie Gaskin's DARLING project made with this set!)  Hint, hint…it's not too late to join and you can see it, too!!!  But, anyway, I did have fun water coloring this little guy!

I stamped him in Black Stazon on Whisper White and then used my Stampin' Write Markers in Chocolate Chip, Lucky Limeade and Melon Mambo and the AquaPainter to color him, the frog and the lantern.  I cut the pennant shape at the bottom and then punched the Designer Label punch from Melon Mambo, folded it in half and added a trio of flowers from the Boho Blossoms Punch with a green Mini Brad for the top.  The base card is Chocolate Chip and I added the Melon Mambo pattern from the hostess package, Cheerful Treat Designer Paper.   I cut a strip of Lucky Limeade and ran it thru the Big Shot with the Houndstooth folder.

Finally, I added the greeting, except I didn't like the word "lawn" so I covered it up with a Small Heart punch of Melon Mambo with a Pearl in it!

Make sure to check out what the rest of the Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge team did this week over on Create with Connie and Mary.  Some really darling ideas this week!
