We sadly had a neighbor pass away unexpectedly a couple weeks ago.  I pulled out the Painted Harvest to make a sympathy card for them.  I think this is one of my favorite cards I’ve made with this set.

Here is the inside and the envelope was decorated the same.

The details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Crushed Curry cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
  • A 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Cajun Craze was added to the base card.
  • On the 3-3/4 x 5 layer of Whisper White, the background flower from Painted Harvest stamp set was stamped twice on the left side with Crushed Curry Ink, then the second step flower image stamped with Cajun Craze on top.
  • The centers of the flowers were filled with Early Espresso Ink.
  • The fern leaves were stamped with Garden Green and Pear Pizzazz to fill in the background, the the speckle stamp with Early Espresso Ink randomly.
  • Another flower was stamped the same on scrap Whisper White, then hand-cut and added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Two of the leaf trios were stamped with Garden Green, then punched with the Leaf Punch and added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The greeting from Rose Wonder stamp set was stamped with Early Espresso Ink.
  • The flower and leaves were stamped on a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Whisper White on the right side and the inside greeting from Rose Wonder stamp set with Early Espresso Ink.

I just felt this was a perfect set to use for this sad occasion.

Saturday Blog Hop – Fun Edge Cards

It’s Saturday and time for the Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop! Our design team theme is featuring “Fun Edge Cards” this week!  I think a fancy edge just adds so much to a card…but other than the edge, my card is super simple!

Here are the details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 6-3/4 piece of Real Red, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
  • The snowflake edge from the Swirly Snowflakes Thinlits cut the bottom edge of a 4 x 5-1/4 piece of Whisper White and then adhered on top of the Real Red shorter front.
  • The red Snowflake edge from Swirly Snowflakes Thinlits was cut from Real Red, then the snowflakes individually cut and added to the other edge with Tombow Monoadhesive Glue.
  • Merry Christmas from Snowflake Sentiments was stamped with Memento Black Ink on front.
  • Inside a 1-1/4 x 5-1/4 piece of Metallic Gold Paper was added to the bottom of a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Whisper White cardstock.
  • Some Gold/Silver Washi Tape was placed along the edge to hide the seam.
  • The inside greeting from Snowflake Sentiments was stamped with Memento Black Ink, then the snowflakes stamped with Real Red Ink.

Next up is our Create website to find out more about our October Mini Session, then onto Mary Brown or go backwards to visit Melissa Davies!

CCMC477 Graceful Garden

It’s time for another Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge!  It’s a pretty color challenge…the bright colors seem very appropriate for the warm summer-like weather we’ve been having this week!

I pulled out the Petal Garden Designer Paper Stack because I knew it had these colors in it!  I also pulled out a stamp set I haven’t used yet…Graceful Garden!  It’s a pretty simple card, but I do like how it turned out!  Those colors are great together!

Here are the details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Fresh Fig cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
  • On the 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Whisper White, a 3 x 4 piece of the Petal Garden Designer Paper was placed along the bottom.  The print is so bold that it didn’t need a whole lot more embellishment!
  • To hide the seam, I used the 1/8″ Fresh Fig ribbon and tied a knot on the front.
  • The flower from Graceful Garden stamp set was stamped with Calypso Coral Ink once and Pear Pizzazz Ink once on scrap Whisper White.  The fern leaf was stamped with Fresh Fig Ink.  They were watercolored with ink from the lid of the ink pads and an AquaPainter.  All were hand-cut and popped up on the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The greeting from All Things Thanks was stamped with Fresh Fig Ink.

That’s it!  Like I said…super simple!  OK…check out the other Challenge Team members and the wonderful designs they have done this week over on Create with Connie and Mary!

SUOC184 Favorite Punch/Die

The theme this time on SUO Challenges is “Favorite Punch or Die”.  Well, let me say that there are just TOO many to choose from…I couldn’t narrow it down easily.  So…I went with one that has gotten more use recently from me!

Anyone who knows me, knows that I am an avid College Football fan, especially the Ohio State Buckeyes!  This idea is the first thing I thought when I saw the Quilt Bundle suite in the Holiday Catalog…a Buckeye star quilt!  I’ve got a couple different versions that I’ll show after the recipients get them…but here is one that I made for this challenge.

Here are the details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Real Red cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
  • On the 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Smoky Slate, the letters from the Labeler Alphabet spell out “Go Bucks!” with Memento Black Ink.
  • On the left side is a 1-1/2 x 5-1/4 strip of Basic Black, with a 1-1/4 x 5-1/4 strip of Whisper White on top.  Then a 3/4 x 5-1/4 piece of Quilted Christmas Designer Paper on top.
  • I cut the largest Layering Circle from Basic Black and popped it up on the front.
  • The quilt star from Christmas Quilt was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black outline, Real Red and Smoky Slate fill the insides, then cut with the Quilt Builder Stitched Star Framelit Die (you have to look closely).  I think the stitching marks just finish it off.  It is popped up on the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • In the center is a Clear Faceted Gem.

Don’t forget to check out what the rest of the Design Team for SUO Challenges did this week with this theme! I’m sure they will have some great ideas!

CCMC476 Colorful Seasons

It’s time for another challenge over on Create with Connie and Mary.  We have a fun sketch for you to try this week!  Our Challenge Team did some FABULOUS things with it!

With the trees starting to change colors and fall in our neighborhood, I was inspired to pull out the Colorful Seasons stamp set and make some of my own leaves!

A while back I had made up a sheet of fall colors by sponging ink on glossy cardstock.  I cut a couple leaves out earlier with the Seasonal Layers Thinlits, but still had room to cut a few more.   They were perfect for this sketch!  Here are the details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Cajun Craze cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
  • A 3-3/4 x 5 layer of Early Espresso was decorated with 1-1/2 wide piece of Painted Autumn DSP, then a 1/2 wide strip of the other pattern on top diagonally.
  • A Stitched Layer circle was cut from Very Vanilla, stamped with the greeting from Colorful Seasons and added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Two leaves stamped with Basic Black on the inked glossy cardstock and cut with the Thinlits were adhered to the bottom of the circle with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • A piece of the Copper Trim was opened/frayed, tied in a knot, then added to the top of the leaves.

SO simple, but has a lot of impact, I think!  OK…check out the rest of the Challenge Team’s ideas over on Create with Connie and Mary.  Plus check out the September Mini Session details…full of ideas using the Holiday Catalog!

Painted Harvest again

I showed you a Painted Harvest card a couple weeks ago and said that I had done two more cards very similar to it with a little different layout.   Here it is again:

Here’s the second one that I did.

And here is the third one:

Same colors, same designer paper, just a little different layout to make subtle changes in the cards.  Here are the details again for all three.

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Pumpkin Pie Cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded to form the base card.
  • Two 1 x 4 pieces of Painted Autumn Designer Paper were added to each side of the 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Very Vanilla cardstock.
  • A 1/2 x 5 strip of the coordinating Espresso pattern DSP was added across the top section.
  • One sunflower was directly stamped on the Very Vanilla cardstock layer with Crushed Curry Ink for the solid background and Pumpkin Pie for the top layer.  Early Espresso Ink was stamped off for the center of the flower, the the dotted image was full-strength.
  • A second flower was stamped the same on scrap Very Vanilla cardstock, then hand-cut and popped up on the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The leaves background was stamped off Garden Green, then the veins were full-strength Garden Green Ink.  They were punched with the Leaf Punch and tucked under the popped-up flower.
  • The thankful greeting was stamped with Early Espresso Ink on scrap Very Vanilla, then punched with the Everyday Label Punch and sponged around the edges with Pumpkin Pie Ink and tucked under the sunflower.
  • Some Linen Thread was double tied in a bow and added to the sunflower with a Mini Glue Dot.

I had fun creating these for some special people!  Hope you enjoy them!  Do you have a favorite?

Saturday Blog Hop – Awning Cards

It’s Saturday and time for the Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop! Our design team theme is featuring  “Awning special fold” cards this week!  I first saw one done by my fabulous friend, Lorri Heiling, with a hut and mixed drinks and have wanted to try one for myself!

Here’s what I came up with using the cute potion bottles from Spooky Cat stamp set!

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Cajun Craze Cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded to form the base card.
  • A 1-3/4 x 3-3/4 piece of Pumpkin Pie cardstock was scored at 1/4″ and placed at the bottom of a 3-3/4 x 5 layer of Very Vanilla cardstock.  It was stamped with Happy Halloween with Memento Black Ink.
  • A row of the hash mark image from Spooky Cat stamp set was stamped above it using Soft Sky Ink for the “table”.
  • The potion glasses were stamped with Memento Black Ink on top and filled with Lemon Lime Twist, Bermuda Bay and Cajun Craze liquids.
  • The awning was made by cutting a 2 x 3-3/4 piece of striped Spooky Night Designer Paper and scoring across at 3/8 and 1-5/8″.  Adhere the top scored piece to the top of the Very Vanilla layer, then bend out the center section.
  • The black awning piece was cut with the Home Sweet Home Thinlits from Basic Black cardstock (twice) and adhered along the edge, then trimmed to fit.
  • A witch hat from the Spooky Night Designer Paper was cut out and added to the bottom with a Stampin’ Dimensional.

Isn’t that fun?  OK…check out what the rest of the Design Team did with their Awning Card by taking our Saturday Blog Hop! Next up is our Create website to find out more about our September Mini Session, then onto Mary Brown or go backwards to visit Melissa Davies!

CCMC475 Labels to Love

Oh!  What a fun color combination we have for you today on Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge!  Perfect for these little cooler and rainy days!  Reminds me that fall will soon be here!

The Painted Autumn Designer Paper had this check pattern that I thought worked great with the colors…seems like a few of the other Challenge Team members thought the same thing!  lol!

Here are the details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Thick Very Vanilla, scored at 4-1/4 and folded to form the base card.
  • A 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Soft Sky cardstock is added on top.
  • The Painted Autumn DSP is 2-1/2 x 5-1/4 and adhered towards the right side.
  • A 1/2 x 5 piece of Tangerine Tango cardstock is added on top.
  • The largest circle in the Stitched Shapes was cut from Thick Very Vanilla cardstock, then stamped with the Labels to Love greeting in Early Espresso Ink, then added on top with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The trio of pumpkins were cut out of the Painted Autumn DSP and adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Tangerine Tango and Peekaboo Peach cardstocks were punched with the Leaf Punch and tucked around the circle and pumpkins.
  • A piece of Soft Sky Woven Ribbon was tied in a knot and added to the circle with a Mini Glue Dot.

LOVE this color combination!  OK…make sure to check out the rest of the Challenge Team designs to see what they did with it.  AND…check out the September 2017 Create with Connie and Mary Mini Session that just opened!

SUOC183 Painted Harvest

The theme this time on SUO Challenges is “Autumn Colors”. Of course…what set did I use?  Painted Harvest…with a pumpkin cut from the Patterned Pumpkins Thinlits.

Here are the details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Cajun Craze cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
  • The front of the base card has been embossed with the Quilt Top Embossing Folder.
  • On the 1-1/4 x 4 strip of Whisper White, the greeting from Painted Harvest was stamped in Chocolate Chip Ink.
  • The outline Pumpkin was cut twice…once with Pumpkin Pie cardstock and once with Cajun Craze cardstock. The inside of the Pumpkin Pie outline was filled with the Cajun Craze slivers, then adhered on the front of the card.
  • The leaves were stamped with Pumpkin Pie and Tangerine Tango Ink, Lemon Lime Twist and Garden Green Ink, Cajun Craze and Chocolate Chip Ink and Daffodil Delight and Crushed Curry Ink.  They were punched with the Leaf Punch and arranged around the pumpkin.
  • The stem was colored with Garden Green Marker.
  • A double loop of Linen Thread was tied in a bow and added to the pumpkin with a Mini Glue Dot.

Don’t forget to check out what the rest of the Design Team for SUO Challenges did this week with this theme! I’m sure they will have some great ideas!
