Snowman Cheeseball

Published by Connie under Good info

OK, so it isn’t paper arts, but I had to show you the Snowman Cheeseball I made for my husband’s holiday party on Friday.  I thought he turned out SO cute!  If you know me, you know I LOVE snowman…my house is decorated all over with them during the holidays (and after until Spring!)

It makes a HUGE amount, though.  If I made it again, I’d cut the recipe in half for a group of 20 of less…especially if you are having other appetizers with it.

It is two different flavors…the head is an onion/dijon mustard flavor and the body is a pesto flavor.  Both were yummy.  The pesto one is a little milder.  The scarf I made from a Strawberry Fruit Roll-up…just cut it into strips.  The nose is an actual small carrot cut into a pointed shape.  The eyes and buttons were made from sliced ripe olives.  After you make the cheeseballs, you add a layer of whipped cream cheese over the top so it makes him snowy white…then add the embellishments.  It wasn’t hard at all.

I adapted the recipe a little bit, so I’ve included my changes.  I think it made it easier to make and didn’t change the outcome that I could tell.

Tip:  When you serve it, take the first bite…otherwise people think it is too pretty to cut into and eat!

Make-Ahead Snowman Cheese Ball
Recipe courtesy of Betty Crocker
All holiday appetizers should be this fun! This adorable snowman is made of a delicious spread of seasoned cream and Cheddar cheeses.
3 packages (8 ounces each) cream cheese, softened
4 cups shredded Cheddar cheese (16 ounces)
2 tablespoons basil pesto
1 tablespoon grated onion
1/4 teaspoon dijon mustard
4-5 drops red pepper sauce
1 container (4 ounces) whipped cream cheese, softened
Decorations, if desired
Assorted crackers

1 . Mix 3 packages cream cheese and the Cheddar cheese; divide into 3 equal parts. Combine 2 parts to equal two-thirds of mixture; mix in pesto. Mix onion, mustard and pepper sauce into remaining one-third mixture.
2 . Shape each cheese mixture into ball. Wrap each ball in plastic wrap.
3 . Before serving, arrange balls on serving plate with smaller ball on top for head of snowman. Frost snowman with whipped cream cheese before serving. Decorate as desired. Serve with crackers. Store covered in refrigerator.

Eastern Blooms

Sorry I’ve been MIA for a couple days.  Monday and Tuesday I spent all my free time prepping for my Technique Class last night.  It went well…I think they enjoyed the techniques and cards we did.  The techniques must have been easier last night, because most were done within a couple hours!  I’ll have to make them a little tougher next time.  lol!

Watercolor Roll (Technique Junkies Newsletter, June 2006 issue) was one of the background techniques we made last night.  I try to make up a few variations of the technique so they can see how changing colors can make the technique look entirely different.  This soft pink and yellow was one of the extras, so I converted it into a card this morning.  I thought I’d use the other side of Eastern Blooms…the softer side…it is such a pretty set.  We received it free in our goodie bag for attending Convention and used it in our Make & Takes there!

For the rest of the card, I overstamped the flower with Pink Pirouette over the Watercolor Roll background and layered it onto Cameo Coral.  Then I stamped the flower again on Very Vanilla with Cameo Coral ink and cut it out.  I stamped the flower with Mellow Moss and cut out just two of the "leaves" to tuck behind the blossom.  I placed one of the large Pretties Kit half pearls in the center.  Tied the 5/8 wide Vanilla ribbon around it and mounted it all on Pink Pirouette cardstock…one of the new In-Colors!  I’m pretty happy with how it turned out!

I featured Eastern Blooms in my September Card Kit.  You get four sample ideas for using this set when you purchase the Card Kit, plus all the materials to make 12 cards.  Check it out!

I’m so SORRY!  I just returned from Convention and found out that my Blog has been down since Tuesday when I left!  I’m just posting a quick email to let you know that I am back up and running.  Too tired tonight, but tomorrow I promise to show you all the NEAT roommate gifts, Convention News and swaps I made for Convention!

Check out my previous days Blog post…I really did pre-date a few things for you to see while I was gone!

Thanks for sticking with me!
