Fishy Birthday Party

My grandson, Carter, turned 3 a couple weeks ago and his mom came up with a “fishing” theme for his party since he likes fishing in his papa’s pond!  I spent some time at my Spring Stamping Retreat cutting all the pieces for the banners, invitations and cake decorations!  Thankfully his mom put them all together!  It was lots of Big Shot work!  But since he had THREE birthday parties, the decorations really got used and I’m sure they will be borrowed by other friends.  We were inspired by some photos on Pinterest.

Here’s the birthday boy with his cake…isn’t that cute?  The sign says “Carter is three”.

Here’s the party invitation with details on the back…I made the fish in several different colors!

It was a beautiful day so the party was outside…this is one of the banners with bobbers and fish and balloons!

Bobber “lanterns” hanging from the dinette light…she painted white lanters along the bottom to look like bobbers.

He really felt like a special little boy and enjoyed being the center of attention at each of the parties!  What fun!

A few details:

Bobbers were made with the Round Framelits and the retired angled square punch.  Fishes were made from Oval Framelits with the Gift Bow Die for the tail and fin and the largest Scallop Oval Framelit for the scales on the back.  Eyes with Circle Punches.

Helping Me Grow

Hope you had a wonderful Easter.  We had our kids, my parents, my husband’s parents and my brother and his family over for dinner last night…16 in all!  We TRIED to get photos of the grand kids…but they wouldn’t sit still and too many were trying to photograph them!  lol!  I think we got about 2 minutes of time before they were off and running again!  The Easter Bunny left bubbles and sidewalk chalk, plus puzzles and a couple outdoor toys for summer play!

Easter 2016

Helping Me Grow is one of those stamp sets that was originally on my want list (it is flowers, you know) when the Occasions catalog first came out.  I was even going to do a swap with it.  Then it moved off my list for a long while.  Then I had some hostess dollars to spend, so I put it on my list again.  When I wanted to send a “thinking of you” card for one of my sweet downline, Jane, I grabbed this set to use and made it nice and cheerful!

Helping Me Grow

Here are the details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Tangelo Twist, folded in half.
  • A 2-1/2 x 5-1/2 strip of Schoolhouse Designer Paper was added along the right side, then a 1/4 x 5-1/5 strip of Daffodil Delight adhered on top for some contrast and to tie in the yellow color int he flower.
  • On the 3-1/4 x 4-3/4 piece of Whisper White, the flowers from Helping Me Grow were stamped with Black Archival Ink, then watercolored with Daffodil Delight, Crushed Curry, Pear Pizzazz and Mossy Meadow Markers.  Tangelo Twist Marker was added full strength to the centers.
  • The corner image was stamped with Tangelo Twist Ink in all 4 corners.  This piece was popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Sweet Friend was lined up on the block, then stamped with Tangelo Twist on scrap Whisper White and the outline with Black Archival Ink.  It was cut with the Rose Garden Framelit label image.  That also was popped up on the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

That’s it!  I didn’t add any lumpy embellishments so I could keep it flat for mailing.

I just REDUCED the prices on my retired stamp sets for sale

so make sure to check them out again HERE!  Thanks!

I am SO tired of winter, even though the weather in Ohio really hasn’t been TOO bad! But…felt it was time for a change on my blog and put up my SPRING banner! What do you think? I love how cheerful it looks! (If you are reading this in email, you’ll need to click on the title to take you to my blog to see!)

AND…we have some EXCITING news in the Babbert family! I’m finally allowed to announce it!  We are THRILLED to be having a new grandson coming around September 1st!  Quinn will have a little brother to play with!  So excited for Ross and Allie!

And…here’s a new photo of Carter!  He’s getting so big!  Hard to believe he is 2-1/2 years old now!  Adam and Beth said he sat still for about 10 seconds to have this taken…then he was off again!

That’s it!  No card today…just thought you’d like an update on my family!  LOVE them so much!

Reason for the Season

Yesterday was my grand-daughter’s, Quinn’s, FIRST birthday party (her actual birthday was Friday!).  We had a beautiful sunny day and lots of fun!  Here’s a few photos of the day.  My husband and I got her the wagon and she loved it!  She wouldn’t eat the cake for photos until her daddy put some raspberries and fruit inside it…too funny!  Her mommy did a great job decorating for the day, too!

1st birthday

And here are a few of her first birthday photos!

Quinn 1st birthday 2

I’m sure I’m biased…but she is a beautiful little girl with a sunny disposition!  Love her!

OK…now on to the card for today!  I love the poinsettia images in the Reason for a Season stamp set!  Here’s one of the cards I made using it.

Reason for the Season

The details to recreate this card:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Cherry Cobbler folded in half.
  • On the 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Crumb Cake, a 1-1/2 x 5-1/4 strip of Winter Wonderland Designer Paper was placed across the left side.
  • A 2 x 4 piece of Metallic Gold cardstock was placed across the front with a 3/4 x 4 strip of Cherry Cobbler across the center of it.
  • The two poinsettia outlines from Reason for the Season were stamped with Archival Black Ink, then stamped the inside with Cherry Cobbler Ink and the leaves with Old Olive.  A Blender Pen was used to move the color to the other areas inside the outline, giving it a two-tone look.  They were cut out and placed on the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • A Very Merry Christmas was stamped with Cherry Cobbler ink on the Crumb Cake layer.
  • A few Gold Sequins add a little bling!

Happy Valentine’s Day

Hope you all had a wonderful Valentine’s Day!  It was quite snowy and blustery in central Ohio yesterday, so we elected to stay home for most of the day.  The white-outs made visibility almost zero!  I thought I’d share a personal post today of my two grandkids…they are growing up FAST!

Here is Carter’s Valentine!  He is 20 months old already!  His new haircut really makes him look like a little boy!

Carter Valentine's Day 2015

And, here is Quinn…she is 4 months old now and such a darling little girl!

Quinn Valentine's Day

Both are so happy and healthy!  We are SOOOO blessed!

Have you stamped today?
