Best Wishes and More

The Late Night Stampers Design Team assignment this week is to use the colors of Really Rust, Ruby Red and Old Olive.  These are favorite fall colors, of course, so I grabbed a universal set, Best Wishes & More, that I haven't used much at all this season.  It has a very pretty stylized leaf in it.

Of course, the first thing I looked for was Designer Paper that had those three colors in it…I didn't really see anything I wanted to use.  So, I made up my own "designer paper".  I stamped the leaf in the three colors, Really Rust, Ruby Red and Old Olive on Very Vanilla cardstock.  Then used the Itty Bitty Backgrounds stamp to speckle on some additional Old Olive.  This was layered on Ruby Red cardstock.  I used "Thankful Thoughts of You" from Grateful Greetings in Old Olive on Very Vanilla and layered it on Really Rust cardstock.  Then I cut out three of the leaves from scrap Very Vanilla and mounted them on the greeting layer with Stampin' Dimensionals.

The base card is Old Olive and I added a strip of Really Rust cardstock and a Scallop Edge of Very Vanilla.  I wrapped some of the gorgeous Mistletoe Old Olive Taffeta Ribbon around the Really Rust and tied a knot.  The other two layers were mounted on top.  As a final touch, I added a Neutral Button in the center of the leaf trio and used a thin strip of Really Rust cardstock to tie a knot in the button holes.

This starts a BUSY week for me!  I have my best buddies coming in for the weekend stamping retreat and I get to STAMP, STAMP, STAMP all day and all night for 3 1/2 days!  No meals to fix…nothing!  Yeah!  But…of course…I need to get everything ready before I go…AND my Stamp Clubs meet the night before I leave!  I need to prep for it yet!  Anyway, hope you have a great week!

Twick or Tweet

Wow…I’m getting later and later posting.  Hopefully I can catch up this weekend.  My computer has been acting up, too, since it did a download the other day.  Grrr…

Today’s card is my Design Team submission using the sketch from the LateNightStampers Challenge #41.  Same sketch that I used HERE.  Amazing how different it looks!

I started with a base of Pumpkin Pie cardstock and layered a 4×4 piece of Cast A Spell Designer Paper on top.  I added two More Mustard mini brads to each end of a 1 x 4 strip of Old Olive cardstock, then placed it  to hide the seam from the Designer Paper.  I stamped the little bird from Stampin’ Up!’s Twick or Tweet stamp set on Whisper White and colored with my Stampin’ Write Markers, then sponged the edges with Basic Black ink.  It was layered on Pumpkin Pie, sponged the edges, and finally layered on Basic Black cardstock.  I stamped Twick or Tweet in Basic Black on Perfect Plum, then punched it with the Word Window punch and layered it on a Basic Black Modern Label punch piece.  All that was added to the front of the card with Dimensionals.

I thought it turned out cute!

Wow…tomorrow is Friday already and time for Bloggers Challenge!  See you then!

Gobble Gobble

Happy Thanksgiiving to our Canadian friends!

I just returned from my trip to the Wisconsin Dells area.  Leaves are turning and it was beautiful!  I’m sure next week will be peak leaf colors up there because every day we were there they got prettier and prettier!  We went on the Upper Dells Boat Tour…a little cool, but we picked a sunny afternoon, so it wasn’t too bad.  Also visited the House on the Rock…a wonderful museum FULL of rare and unusual collections!  HUGE…it took 3 hours to walk thru the entire thing and we were tired!  Definitely worth a visit when you are in that area.

Here is my card for the LateNight Stampers Challenge #41, a sketch challenge.  I wanted to commemorate the Thanksgiving holiday today in Canada.  Maybe you didn’t know that it is earlier due to the harvest season being earlier in that area.  Stampin’ Up!’s single stamps are SO much fun.  This one is called, Gobble Gobble, and is a perfect turkey to color with Stampin’ Write Markers.

I started with a base of Kraft cardstock and layered on a piece of Autumn Meadows Designer paper.  I wrapped the 1 1/4" Striped Grosgrain Ribbon around to the back to secure.  I added two Chocolate Chip Corduroy Buttons to the front and tied each of them with Linen Thread.  The Gobble Gobble turkey was colored with Chocolate Chip, Close to Cocoa, Really Rust, More Mustard, Pumpkin Pie and Creamy Caramel Stampin’ Write Markers and stamped on Very Vanilla cardstock.  I layered it on Chocolate Chip and then Really Rust cardstocks.  Finally, I stamped Happy Thoughts of You from Grateful Greetings on the Taken with Teal pattern in Autumn Meadows Designer Paper with Chocolate Chip Classic Ink and punched it with the Modern Label Punch.

I have a TON of stuff to work on this week, including prepping for a class tomorrow night!  Hope you have a productive week, too!

Serene Snowflakes

Good morning!  I hope you had a great weekend.  My craft fair was a moderate success and I did get to spend Sunday stamping and catching up (and CLEANING my studio!)

I love making Christmas cards…especially those with snowmen and snowflakes.  Of course, I had to buy Serene Snowflakes in the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Mini catalog.

My design team challenge over on LateNightStampers is to create a single layer card.  Now…you KNOW that is SO not me!  I love layers!  I had a really hard time thinking of what to do until this popped in my head!

I started with a base of Confetti White cardstock because it has a heavier weight than regular Whisper White cardstock.  It is cut to 4 1/4 x 11 and folded in half.  I stamped the Serene Snowflakes and Four the Holidays words across the front in Night of Navy Classic Ink.  I used my circle punches in different sizes and punched them thru scrap cardstock to make templates.  Then I took a sponge dauber and Bashful Blue Classic Ink to make the circle shadows in the background…just swirled the ink around the opening of the template.  Tip:  Start with the large one and then fill in with the smaller ones.  I made sure that one of the circles covered the center of the large snowflake.

It is hard to see, but I did add some Crystal Effects and Dazzling Diamonds to the centers of each snowflake and the tips of the larger one.  I wrapped some Silver Stretch Cord around the left fold and tied a bow.  Clean and simple!  It would be easy to make a lot of these for Christmas cards!

Daisies #2 Bigz Die

The Design Team challenge this week over at Late Night Stampers is to use our Big Shot!  Well…not a hardship for me at all.  I find it hard NOT to use my Big Shot on every project!

Here is one card that I think packs a lot of WOW!  I love the dramatic look of the Melon Mambo on Basic Black.  Since I took the picture, I did finish off the inside with a layer of Whisper White so it can be used.

The base card is Basic Black and I used the reverse Whisper White cardstock from the Swirly Strip die.  I almost like the reverse better than the actual Swirly cut!  In the natural curve of the Swirly area, I used the Daisies #2 Bigz Die and cut one set of Melon Mambo cardstock flowers.  I put them together with a little adhesive, then used the large pink button from Sherbet Designer Buttons.  I cut a very thin strip of Basic Black cardstock and tied it in the center of the button, it is secured to the center of the Daisies with a Pop Dot.  Finally, the extra center circles from the flowers were laying on my table, I picked them up and placed them in the vacant spot on the card.  I think they look very random and chic there!  lol!

So…have all my Daisies #2 Die designs convinced you to purchase that Die yet?  Come on!  What are you waiting for?  Order it today!  lol!

Punch Art – Birds

My Punch Classes did this card last month.  I saw the idea for the birds over on SCS, but changed up the card.  I wanted to feature how the Scallop Square Bigz Die could be used to make the base of the card.  Isn’t this a cute new baby card?

I started by folding a 4 3/4 x 11 piece of Apricot Appeal cardstock in half, then I placed it on the Scallop Square Bigz die just below one edge of the scallops so that side wouldn’t cut thru.  Voila…scallop card!  I wheeled the background of the Whisper White cardstock with Whimsy Jumbo Wheel in Apricot Appeal and layered it on Bashful Blue cardstock.  Then I used the Wide Oval and punched out a Bashful Blue and Pretty in Pink oval from each color.  I trimmed off just a slice of the oval, then used it for my wing.  I added a beak from Apricot Appeal which is a 1/2 circle punch cut in half and adhered under the Wide Oval.  I drew some stick bird legs and the eye with a Chocolate Chip marker.  I stamped Hello Baby from Teeny Tiny Wishes in Chocolate Chip on Apricot Appeal and punched it with the Modern Label Punch.  I placed it along the side and trimmed off the excess.  Finally, I used my White Gel Pen and drew some circles in each of the scallops going around the card.

Fun card…pretty quick and easy to duplicate for those last minute baby cards you need!

Bunch of running to do today, meeting my upline for lunch (yeah!) and need to finish working on the Demo Round Up meeting for the Columbus area demos that is Sunday!  Need to prep my Make & Take, plus get some display things put together.  Can’t wait!

Punch Art – Tulip

Wow…two posts in one day from me!

Reminder…today is the last day to sign up for the August Card Kit.

I also have one more share available for the Designer Series Paper Share #1.

This week there is a Punch Art Challenge going on over at Late Night Stampers and this is my submission as part of the Design Team.  Everyone knows that I LOVE Punch Art…I’ve been doing classes of Punch Art for years…long before it got popular!

This is one that my Punch Class did several months ago.  This card was also displayed on the boards at Convention!  Woohoo!  I had a total of 8 cards displayed on the boards, so I was pretty happy!

I started with a base of Certainly Celery Cardstock and layered on Pixie Pink cardstock that I ran thru the Texturz Polka Dot die.  I placed a band of Certainly Celery 5/8 Grosgrain Ribbon around it.  The Whisper White and Sahara Sand were run thru the Big Shot with the Oval Bigz Die.  I pierced holes in each of the scallops.  I used Tres Chic in Sahara Sand for the background.  The leaves and stem were handcut from Certainly Celery and sponged with Garden Green.  The Tulip was punched from two sizes of Ovals and sponged with Pixie Pink ink.  For You from All Holidays Stamp Set was stamped in Pixie Pink and punched with the small oval, then layered on the large oval punch.

Hope you enjoy this card!  BUSY week for me…so I’m going to be brief!

Fall Scrapbook page

I’m very late getting my Late Night Stampers Design Team assignment done this week!  We are to complete a Fall Scrapbook page.  Well…for one, I have no current Fall pictures!  So, here is a picture I took of the Sunset Red Maples in our backyard a few years ago.  They were beautiful!  I must remember to take pictures this fall!

There is not a bit of stamping on this project, unless you count the inking around the edges of the diecut leaves!  I started with a base of More Mustard cardstock and layered a strip of Autumn Traditions Designer Paper along the left side.  I used the Eyelet Border punch on a piece of Ruby Red and placed it under the Designer Paper.  I cut a 3 1/4" circle with my Circle Scissors from Sahara Sand.  I also cut leaves from the Leaves #2 die with my Big Shot from the Autumn Traditions Designer Paper.  The red leaf is done using Ruby Red cardstock.  Finally, I used the Go Go Boots Alphabet die with Always Artichoke cardstock to cut out the FALL letters.  Since this is a 6×6 size scrapbook page, I will add a tab with journaling under the picture.

Enjoy!  Hope you are having a wonderful weekend!

Animal Stories

This week’s Design Team Challenge on Late Night Stampers has us creating a Kid theme card from a card we CASED (Copy and Steal Everything) from the Catalog!  I chose to CASE the card on page 129 of the catalog.  We were supposed to change at least two things.  I decided to use the layout, but changed up the colors and set that I used!

I started with a base card of Not Quite Navy.  I added two strips of Crushed Curry Polka Dot Ribbon around the Thoroughly Modern Designer Paper and layered that onto the base.  I cut the "water" from the Swirly Long Strip Die with my Big Shot and used the left over piece from the Bermuda Bay cardstock instead of the Swirl itself.  It is layered over Not Quite Navy and then layered on an extra wide piece of Going Gray cardstock.  I wrapped the tag from Lots of Tags Sizzlit around the Going Gray and placed a button from the Sherbet Designer Buttons package (tied with Linen Thread first).  Finally, I stamped the whale from Animal Stories Stamp Set with Versamark, then Going Gray ink and embossed it with Clear Embossing Powder for a shiny finish!

I was going to add a greeting under the tag, but decided to leave it blank until I needed a card.

Mary Brown, my awesome stamper friend, also played along with this challenge.  Make sure to check out her Blog.  You will be amazed that we both used the same layout, but the result is TOTALLY different!

Holiday Lineup

I hope you enjoyed the Royal Blog Tour over the past couple days!  I was gone over the weekend, but able to keep track on my laptop of all the comments.  I will be naming a winner of my Blog Candy on Thursday, July 30th!

I’m still stamping in my Christmas mode!  This card was made for the Design Team Christmas in July challenge over on Late Night Stampers!

I started with stamping the Holiday Lineup image with Basic Black on Whisper White.  I used my Real Red, Sahara Sand and Bermuda Bay Stampin’ Up! markers to color in the images.  I layered it on Real Red and then Bermuda Bay cardstock.  I took my colors from the Holiday Lounge Designer Paper (although it mentions Taken with Teal as the color in the DSP, I felt the Bermuda Bay blended well enough to use it!)  I layered of piece of the DSP on Real Red, then the base of Bermuda Bay, adding a length of Kraft Taffeta Ribbon to hide the seam.  Finally, I added the new Snowflake Punch from Sahara Sand and centered with the Red Rhinestone Brad in the upper left corner!  The stamped element was placed on top with Dimensionals.

FUN card!  I love it!

I’m still getting ready for Convention!  I did get some swap cards done while riding in the car for 12 hours each way!  But, I still have a crazy couple weeks coming up!  I plan on getting several posts done before I go…but it will be WILD around here!  lol!
