Candy Pencil favors
Oh my…aren't these CUTE??? One of my Stamp Club customers, Sandy Moore, was hostess this month and made one for each of the women in the Club! I wish I would have remembered to take a photo of all of them holding their pencils! They LOVED them! Thanks SO much for making them, Sandy…such a "sweet" idea!
I had not seen them before, but they are actually cardstock wrapped around a sleeve of Mentos candy with a chocolate Hershey Kiss for the pencil lead end and a Rolo for the eraser. She scored and sponged the edges to make it look like the sides of a pencil. The Black Gingham Ribbon and greeting for the Tag Punch are retired, but way too cute! I absolutely LOVE them! These would make a fun "back to school" gift for the teacher or classmates!

Got Treats?
Stampin' Up!'s Got Treats? stamp set was on my very first order of the new catalog. But…this card was the first time I used it. It was originally made for a Create with Connie and Mary sketch challenge a few weeks ago, but when I made my Convention swap cards using the same sketch I REALLY liked it, so used that card for my Create Challenge! (You can see it HERE!)
I picked my colors from the original Pawsitively Prints Designer Paper (still available in the Summer Mini until the end of the month!) I used Daffodil Delight for the base of the card. Next I layered on Pretty in Pink cardstock that I ran thru the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dots Impressions Folder. I added three narrow strips of Pear Pizzazz cardstock along the left side, then a piece of the floral designer paper pattern from Pawsitively Prints I. I rounded the corners first.
For the focal piece, I inked up the Cupcake image from Got Treats? with my Stampin' Write Markers in Daffodil Delight, Pretty in Pink and Pear Pizzazz and stamped on Whisper White. I punched it with the 1 3/8 Circle Punch, then layered it on Pear Pizzazz Scallop Circle. I pierced each of the scallops. I added a yellow Flower Brad next to the Cupcake image, then a shiny Rhinestone Jewel in the center of the brad! Love that look! Finally, I added a bow of Pear Pizzazz Ribbon to the front!

Tropical Party
Whew…the Wedding Reception is OVER and I'm SO thankful it went well. Other than forgetting to bring containers to put leftover food, I did a pretty good job of remembering everything I had to take to the party house! And really, other than fruit, we didn't have a lot of extra food left over! It was a bigger group than I anticipated! BIG thanks to my friend, Sue, for her help with the food…always a bigger job than you can anticipate! Everyone raved about the food, so it was a success! Here is a picture of the happy couple with their wedding cake.
Gosh…I feel like I've been neglecting my Summer Mini stamps since the new catalog came out and now I have the Holiday Mini products in my hands, too! Since the Summer Mini only runs thru the end of August, today I thought I'd feature Stampin' Up!'s set, Tropical Party, that is one of my favorites! I followed Mary Jo's Monday's Lunchtime Sketch Challenge (TSSC135) to get me started.
And here is my interpretation:
I thought the words from the stamp set, Level 1 Hostess set, Afterthoughts, was pretty funny with the Coconut Drink image from Tropical Party! I started with a base of Old Olive cardstock. I used the umbrella pattern from Island Oasis Designer Paper and layered it on Tempting Turquoise cardstock. I used another pattern from Island Oasis DSP for the polka dots, then layered that on Old Olive. I tied the new Pumpkin PIe Taffeta Ribbon around to the front and tied with a knot.
I inked the Just for You image with Rose Red, then used Tempting Turquoise Marker for the "…so you don't have to share"…words and stamped it on Whisper White. I layered it on Old Olive. The coconut drink, I stamped on Whisper White with Chocolate Chip Classic Ink, cut it out, then placed it on a 1 3/8 circle of Rose Red cardstock. Fun!

We are planning for our next session of Create with Connie & Mary that will begin September 26th and features the new Holiday mini catalog!

Contest is open Sunday, August 1, 2010 – Friday, August 20, 2010
Winners will be notified no later than Friday, August 27, 2010 via email.
We are looking to fill 4 positions.
Please put Guest Designer Submission in the Subject of your email to createwithconnieandmary@gmail.
- Must be a US or CAN demonstrator
- 8 week commitment – one tutorial project weekly and one challenge card weekly. A list of challenges and product schedule will be provided at acceptance so you can work ahead, if desired.
- All projects must use Stampin' Up! only products – exception being altered items. This is the holiday mini session so projects will be focused on product from this publication. Each week will have several stamp set/accessory options, so it is not necessary to purchase ALL the products in the holiday mini.
- Compensation will be discussed upon selection.
- DT members should use the Create with Connie & Mary Guest Designer blog badge and promote CCM where ever and when ever possible! Maintaining an active blog is strongly desired! We want each guest designer to be proud to be a Guest Designer!
Please note that this is not a creative contest, so we are not necessarily looking for the BEST projects although we are looking for projects and not just cards. Rather, we are looking for the best designers who fit into our friendly and encouraging style and are interested in helping us GROW and add new members to the site!
Watercolor Trio
Wow…sorry this is posting so late. I had major problems trying to get to my Dashboard to post! It finally seems to be working ok.
And another WOW…my count went over 500,000 blog hits without me even knowing it! I guess I haven't paid attention since I got back from the wedding! THANK YOU for visiting and for the nice comments you leave! I know I appreciate knowing you are out there and checking in frequently. I've been blogging now for 3 years…doesn't seem possible.
I used the square (rectangle) sketch over on Mojo Monday for the basis of my card. I've had the idea for a red/white/blue card without using stars or a patriotic theme! I think the red and blue flowers, although unusual, fit my idea nicely!
So for my card, I started with a base of Real Red cardstock. I layered on a piece of Whisper White that I ran thru the Big Shot with the Square Lattice Impressions Folder. Along the bottom on another piece of Whisper White, I stamped two of the flowers from Stampin' Up!'s Watercolor Trio stamp set in Real Red and Pacific Point randomly. (I'm SO happy that Pacific Point is returning…I love the brightness of the blue color!) I added a strip of Real Red cardstock to hide the seam between the top and the bottom.
I stamped Birthday Wishes in Pacific Point on Whisper White, then punched with the 1 3/8 circle punch. I added a 1 3/4 circle of Real Red behind it. I stamped the third flower on Whisper White by inking up the flower with my Real Red and Pacific Point Stampin' Write Markers. It is layered on Real Red, too. Finally, I punched the Butterfly from Real Red cardstock, added some Linen Thread for the body and popped it up with Stampin' Dimensionals on the front of the card! I love how it turned out!

It's here! We are launching our third edition of Create with Connie & Mary, where we will be featuring products from the amazing Summer Mini Catalog. Yes…there is a slight name change. Mary Brown, Sr. Design Team member has joined Connie on the Create Team. This Edition we will again have our wonderful guest designers Monika Davis and Kerin Sylvester returning.
To kick of the start of the Early Bird Registration, Mary and I have each designed a special project to share with you. To view all the details of these projects you need to visit the Create with Connie and Mary site
The Summer Edition will run 4 weeks from May 2 - May 30. Each week we will focus on a different collection of products that can be found in the Summer Mini Catalog. Our goal is to show you some new and unique ways to use Stampin' Up!'s fabulous products. EVERY DAY there will be a new project posted and EACH WEEK there will be AT LEAST TWO TUTORIALS available for you to download. Our exclusive projects will include cards, scrapbook pages and 3D items – the quick and easy ones and the more complex larger projects.
In addition, our EXTRA Preview Week begins April 25, we will be focusing on the Elements of Style stamp set, Presto Patterns Designer Paper, Mostly Vintage Stencil, and the Rough Type Alphabet Stamp Set.
