SUOC160 Santa’s Sleigh for Fall

The theme this week on SUO Challenges is Fall Fun (SUOC160).  One thing I like to do is get maximum benefit from my stamps.  I had Santa’s Sleigh on my desk from another project and wondered how the tree would look colored for fall!  I also got to use the fun Labeler Alphabet to personalize the words!

Here are the details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Crumb Cake, folded in half.
  • On each side is  3/4 x 5-1/4 strip of Petals & Paisleys Designer Paper.
  • In the center is a 3-1/2 x 5-1/4 piece of Whisper White stamped with the tree from Santa’s Sleigh with Memento Black Ink.
  • I used a Blender Pen with Delightful Dijon and Cajun Craze Ink Pads (squeeze the top to collect the ink) and colored.  The trunk was done with Chocolate Chip Ink Pad.  Some “grassy” area was also added at the bottom to ground the image.
  • The trio of pumpkins from Spooky Fun were stamped with Memento Black Ink on scrap Whisper White and colored with the Blender Pen and Pumpkin Pie Ink, then cut out and placed along the bottom of the tree.
  • Happy Fall letters from Labeler Alphabet stamp set were individually stamped with Chocolate Chip Ink and cut out, then added across the top.
  • Some Linen Thread was tied in a bow and added to the top of the tree.

SUOC159 Holly Berry Happiness

Our theme this time over on SUO Challenges is “Holiday Papers”.  I almost went with Halloween papers, but at the last minute decided to go with a simple Christmas card!  It would be easy to mass produce these for your Christmas card list!

Here are the details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Cherry Cobbler, folded in half.
  • On the 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Presents & Pinecones DSP, two lengths of Cherry Cobbler Taffeta Ribbon was places across the middle and secured in the back, then adhered to the base card.
  • A Whisper White Layering Oval was cut, then stamped with the greeting from Holly Berry Happiness stamp set in Cherry Cobbler Ink.  It is popped up on the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The two holly leaves were stamped with Memento Black on Emerald Envy and punched, the berries were punched from Red Glimmer Paper.  Both were added with Stampin’ Dimensionals!

SUO158 Cookie Cutter Halloween

It’s time for another SUO Challenge…this time the theme is Thanks and Thanksgiving!   We all need thank you cards and the Thanksgiving holidays will be here soon!  So, grab your stamps and play along!

 

I haven’t been feeling well (migraine) the past few days, so I’m posting one of cards we did for my Holiday Catalog Preview class a couple weeks ago!  Just didn’t have the energy to work on a different design and this one fit the challenge!

Here are the details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Delightful Dijon, folded in half.
  • On the 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Very Vanilla, a 1-1/4 x 5 piece of Petals & Paisleys Designer Paper was added to the left side, and a 2-1/2 x 4 piece of a coordinating pattern next to it.
  • The greeting from Rose Wonder was stamped with Cajun Craze Ink.
  • The Leaflet Framelit was cut from Delightful Dijon and embossed with the Woodgrain Folder.
  • A piece of Burlap Ribbon was cut and shredded on the ends and stapled to the leaf, then added onto the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The scarecrow from Cookie Cutter Halloween was stamped with Memento Black Ink on Very Vanilla and watercolored with Always Artichoke, Delightful Dijon, Cajun Craze, Crumb Cake and Rich Razzleberry Makers and AquaPainter.  Then punched out and added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The crow was stamped with Memento Black and added to the front with a Dimensional, too.

SUOC157 Tin of Tags

This week’s SUO Challenge theme is “All Kinds of Weather”.  Although I’m not looking forward to it, I do like the look of snowy weather!  And, as long as I don’t have to drive in it!  lol!  So, I used the pretty snowflake in Tin of Tags for this week’s Design Team card!  I went with some non-traditional colors of Pink Pirouette and Smoky Slate…love that combination!

Here are the details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Pink Pirouette cardstock, folded in half.
  • The top of the 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Whisper White was embossed with the Softly Falling Embossing Folder.  Along the bottom, I stamped the snowflake randomly with Smoky Slate and Pink Pirouette Inks.
  • The Silver Glitter Ribbon goes across the center and is adhered behind the Whisper White layer.
  • Warm Wishes was stamped with Smoky Slate Ink on scrap Whisper White and cut with the Layering Circles Thinlets, then layered on the larger Scallop Layering Circle of Smoky Slate.  It was added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Some of the pink Fancy Frost Sequins were glued on the front for a little extra bling!

SUOC156 Grateful Bunch

On SUO Challenges, we have a different theme for you this week…one using Primary Colors…red, blue and yellow!  Could be any shade, but I picked the brightest ones for my floral card!  I also had to use some green for the leaves…the flowers just looked naked without them!  lol!

Here are the details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Thick Whisper White, folded in half.
  • Across the front are 3/4 x 5-1/2 strips of Real Red, Daffodil Delight and Pacific Point Polka Dot patterns from the Brights Designer Paper Stack.
  • You are Loved is stamped with Memento Black above the stripe lines.
  • A swirl was cut from the Swirly Bird Framelits from Whisper White cardstock and added to the front.
  • The trio of flowers was stamped with Memento Black On Real Red, Daffodil Delight and Pacific Point Cardstock, then punched with the Blossom Bunch Punch and added to the swirl with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  The leaves were stamped with Memento Black on Wild Wasabi cardstock and handcut, then tucked under the flowers.

SUOC155 Cookie Cutter Christmas

OK….here’s another sneak peek of a Holiday Catalog stamp set!  Our theme this time on SUO Challenges is “Cute and Cuddly”.  I just think this sweet teddy bear in the upcoming Christmas Cookie Cutter stamp set is as cute and cuddly as you can get!  I knew immediately that I wanted to use it!  And…since grandbaby #3 is coming next week (and it’s a boy!), I needed to make this one a baby boy card!

This also shows off the new Cable Knit Embossing Folder!  Since my mom knits and my mother-in-law crochets, I can’t wait to make them a stack of cards to use with their gifts!  Here are the details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Mint Macaron, folded in half.
  • On top the 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Whisper White is embossed with the Cable Knit Dynamic Embossing Folder (it is extra thick!)
  • I thought the pattern in Blooms & Bliss Designer Paper looked like a knit pattern, so cut it with the Layering Circle Framelits and adhered to one of the Scalloped Circles cut from Dapper Denim.
  • A 1 x 4 panel of Mint Macaron was stamped with the “for Baby” greeting in B.Y.O.P. with Dapper Denim ink and adhered across the front.
  • The teddy bear in Cookie Cutter Christmas stamp set was stamped with White Craft Ink on Crumb Cake cardstock and immediately heat embossed with White Embossing Powder, then punched with the Cookie Cutter Builder Punch.
  • The face was stamped with Black Stazon on top, although the eyes were a little too light because it was a slick surface.  I ended up punching circles with the Cookie Cutter Builder Punch from Basic Black cardstock and adhering them over the stamped eyes, then using the retired White Gel Pen to highlight them (WHY did we get rid of those?)
  • I added the bear with Stampin’ Dimensionals to the circles and the circles to the base card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Finally, I cut the little bow tie from the same DSP and added it with a Rhinestone Jewel in the center.

SUOC144 Birds and Blooms

The new challenge over on SUO Challenges is Delightful Dies.  Well, there are SO many great new Dies in the annual catalog that it is very hard to just choose one!  I went with my newest favorite, Birds & Blooms!  The Framelits have two birds that frame the stamped image, but they also have three dies that are silhouette shaped!  Love them!  I chose some soft neutral colors for my card!

Here are the details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Soft Sky, folded in half.
  • The 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Crumb Cake is embossed with the Seaside Folder going horizontally.
  • The 3-1/4 x 4 piece of Whisper White is stamped in the upper left and lower right corners with the crosshatch image from Best Birds stamp set and Soft Sky Ink.  The speckle stamp from Gorgeous Grunge is stamped in the same corners with Early Espresso Ink.
  • The Whisper White layer is layered on a 3-1/2 x 4 piece of Early Espresso cardstock
  • A strip of Burlap Ribbon is stapled to the front for the “branch” the bird rests on.  Then the layered attached to the base card.
  • The silhouette bird is cut with the Framelit from Early Espresso cardstock and attached to the front.
  • Some gold sequins are adhered randomly on the front.
  • The greeting from Best Birds is stamped with Early Espresso ink in the upper left corner.

SUOC143 Thoughtful Branches

We have a neat challenge this time over on SUO Challenges…black and white with a POP of color!  How fun is that?  My mind was busy trying to figure out what I’d use, but then my new Thoughtful Branches Bundle came in and I just HAD to break it in!  My inspiration was a beautiful BRIGHT PINK tree that I saw…it was gorgeous and I had never seen anything like it.

Here are the details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Basic Black, folded in half to form the base card.
  • On the 3-3/4 x 5 layer of Whisper White, a 1 x 3-3/4 strip of the Chevron pattern from Pop of Pink Specialty Paper was added to the bottom, the a 1/4 x 3-3/4 strip of the diagonal pink stripe pattern was placed across the top on a diagonal.
  • The tree and branches were cut with the Beautiful Branches Thinlet Dies from Basic Black cardstock.
  • The top blossoms from Thoughtful Branches stamp set were stamped with Melon Mambo Ink on Melon Mambo cardstock, then cut with the leaves thinlet die.  I carefully added Foam Strips behind the leaves to pop it up from the branches.
  • You’re in my Thoughts from Thoughtful Branches was stamped with Memento Black Ink in the upper right corner.
  • Some Rhinestones were scattered in the background.

SUOC142 Bunch of Blossoms

The challenge this time on SUO Challenges is a “Delight in Nature” theme!  Of course, I immediately think of flowers and my Bunch of Flowers stamp set was already sitting on my desk…so great time to use it, right?  And, I have a slight obsession with the Night of Navy, Whisper White and Daffodil Delight combination lately…so why stop?  lol!

Here are the details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Daffodil Delight, folded in half.
  • On the 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Whisper White, adhere a 2 x 5 piece of Floral Boutique Designer Paper, cut with a flag end at the bottom.
  • From the Bunch of Blossoms stamp set, stamp the large solid flower image six times with Daffodil Delight on Whisper White, then the two-step inside image with Crushed Curry.  Repeat with the smaller flower five times.  Punch all the pieces with the Blossom Builder Punch.  Adhere together.  TIP:  I use a circle to help me adhere the individual blossoms.
  • Stamp the center with Pumpkin Pie on Whisper White and punch out.  Add a Perfect White Accent to the center, then adhere to the flower and to the card.
  • Stamp the inside leaves with Pear Pizzazz Ink on Garden Green cardstock, then the filler leaves with Garden Green and the outline with Garden Green Ink.  Cut out by hand and tuck under the flower.
  • Stamp the greeting from Bunch of Blossoms with Night of Navy Ink.

SUOC151 Flourishing Phrases

Time for another Stampin’ Up! Only Challenge!  This week we are using our favorite new designer paper or colored cardstock!  I just HAD to use this print in the Fruit Stand Designer Paper package…I almost hated to cut into it, but I love the bright cheerful colors in it!  And now I HAVE to buy the coordinating stamp set because I love the DSP so much!

 

SUOC151 Flourishing Phrases

 

Here are the details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Crushed Curry, folded in half.
  • On the 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Whisper White, a 2 x 5-1/4 strip of the Fruit Stand DSP was added to the top.  Tucked under the top is the border cut from Basic Black cardstock with the Flourish Thinlets.
  • The flower from Flourishing Phrases is stamped with Crushed Curry on scrap Whisper White and hand cut out.
  • The center lacy piece is cut with the Flourish Thinlet and added to the center of the larger flower with a Stampin’ Dimensional.  In the center of that is the In Color Enamel Shape in Peekaboo Peach.
  • The leaves were stamped with Garden Green and cut by hand, then tucked under the flower.
  • Thank You greeting from Flourishing Phrases is stamped with Memento Black Ink.
