CCMC406 Going Global

We have a very neutral based color challenge for you to try this week on Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge!

CCMC406

Here’s my take using Going Global…one of the retiring stamp sets.  I’m bummed…it is so nice for making masculine cards!

CCMC406 Going Global

Here are the details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Crumb Cake folded in half.
  • On top is a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Basic Gray.
  • The 3-3/4 x 5 layer of Whisper White is embossed with the World Traveler embossing folder (I really wish this would have stayed in the new catalog!)
  • Towards the bottom is a 1 x 5 strip of Neutrals Designer Paper Collection in the Crumb Cake polka dot pattern.
  • A 1/2 x 4 strip  of Smoky Slate is stamped with the World’s Best Dad greeting from Going Global (one of the reasons I like this stamp set so well is that it includes greetings!) in Basic Gray Ink.
  • The compass image from Going Global is stamped with Basic Gray, then colored with Smoky Slate and Crumb Cake Markers.
  • Some Silver Thread is wrapped in a circle and added behind the image.
  • A Silver sequin is placed in the center of the compass and some silver stars from the Neutrals Sequins is scattered in the background.

Love how this turned out!  Make sure to check out the rest of the Challenge Team did this week with the color challenge over on Create with Connie and Mary...then grab your stamps and play along!

Garden in Bloom Collar Fold Card

This was a card I made a while ago wanting to use up some of the pretty English Garden Designer Paper.  I showed this Collar Fold technique at my Punch & Technique class last month!

Garden In Bloom 2
Here are the details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2, folded in half with the fold on the left.
  • Cut the DSP to 4 x 5-1/2 (you’ll get more out of one 12×12 sheet), watching the direction of the pattern on both sides.
  • On the long side, measure and mark at 2-3/4, then cut in approx. 1-1/2 inches, folding back the sides of each side to match up to the corner.  Add a Stampin’ Dimensional under the collar point.
  • Stamp the greeting from Suite Sayings with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink in the opening the “collar fold” makes.
  • Punch a 2″ Circle from Basic Black cardstock and add to the front.
  • Stamp the inside flower from Garden in Bloom with Hello Honey Ink on scrap Whisper White, then stamp the outside with Delightful Dijon Ink.  Stamp the center of the flower with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.  Hand cut out and place on the circle with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Stamp two inside leaves with Old Olive Ink and the outside with Mossy Meadow Ink.  Hand cut out and adhere under the flower.
  • Add a Rhinestone Jewel to the center of the flower for a little bling!

SUOC148 Butterfly Basics

Today’s challenge at SUO Challenges is using our favorite retired cardstock or designer paper.  Of course, I had to give a nod to my favorite retiring in-color, Mossy Meadow…and combined it with another retiring favorite color, Blackberry Bliss.  So sad to see these go!  I also used Butterfly Basics stamp set that I haven’t pulled out in a while…but it does remain in the new catalog!

SUOC148 Butterfly Basics

Here are the details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Blackberry Bliss, folded in half.
  • A 1-1/4 x 5-1/4 piece of English Garden DSP is added to the right side of a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Crumb Cake.
  • A 1/4 x 5-1/4 strip of Blackberry Bliss cardstock hides the seam.
  • The Whisper White is cut with the Lots of Labels Framelits, then stamped several times (stamping off, too) with the fern from Butterfly Basics using Mossy Meadow Ink.
  • Linen Thread is wrapped around a couple times and tied with a bow on front and added to the base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Two butterflies were stamped with Blackberry Bliss ink on Whisper White, then punched with the Bitty Butterfly Punch and added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Pearls were added for the bodies.
  • Finally, the greeting from Butterfly Basics was stamped with Blackberry Bliss ink in the upper left corner.

That’s it!  Check out the rest of the SUO Challenge Team to see what they did this week!

Moroccan Nights

OK, I’m still not in love with this set, Moroccan Nights, that we received at On Stage last month, but I challenged myself to use it while I was at my stamping retreat a week ago.  Here’s the first card I made with it.  Again, I’m using a couple of the new In Colors…Dapper Denim and Flirty Flamingo!  I purposely left the greeting off of it to give it a general “notecard” look.

Moroccan Nights 2

Here are the details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Flirty Flamingo folded in half.
  • On the 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Whisper White, the medallion in Moroccan Nights is stamped halfway at the top, bottom, and sides with Dapper Denim ink.
  • The medallion is again stamped with Flirty Flamingo Ink on scrap Whisper White and completely cut out by hand.  Then just the very center scalloped area was carefully cut out by hand taking care not to damage the rest of the medallion.
  • Once again the medallion is stamped with Dapper Denim Ink on scrap Whisper White and the center portion hand cut, and the small circles punched with the 1/2″ Circle Punch.  They are all popped up on the Flirty Flamingo Medallion with Stampin’ Dimensionals, then adhered to the base card.
  • The very center piece already cut out from the Flirty Flamingo piece is adhered in the center with Stampin’ Dimensionals and a Perfect White Accent added to the center.

OK…what do you think?  It kind of reminds me of porcelain dishes for some reason!  It is pretty in person, so I hope the photo captures it.

CCMC Saturday Blog Hop – For the Ladies

SP15SatHopWelcome
It’s Saturday and you know what that means!!!  It’s time for another Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Design Team Blog Hop!  This week’s theme is For That Special Lady…can be a mom, sister, or special friend!  We all need ideas for these wonderful ladies in our lives!  I was fortunate to spend last weekend at a stamping retreat to two of my most special friends that live FAR away from me now!

Another wonderful woman in my life is my mother!  I thought I’d share my the Mother’s Day card I made for her using Circle of Spring stamp set.  Of course, I snuck in TWO of the new In Colors, Sweet Sugarplum and Peekaboo Peach!  I love them combined.

Circle of Spring

Here are the details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Sweet Sugarplum, folded in half.
  • On top is a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Crumb Cake cardstock.
  • Along the left side is a strip of Playful Palette Washi Tape in the striped pattern.
  • The Circle of Spring wreath was stamped with Tuxedo Black Ink and colored with Peekaboo Peach, Flirty Flamingo, Sweet Sugarplum and Pear Pizzazz Markers.  It was cut with the Wonderful Wreath Framelits.
  • My Amazing Mother from Greatest Greetings (made it in the new catalog!) was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink on a strip of Sweet Sugarplum and cut with a flag end.
  • Peekaboo Peach cardstock was punched with the Bow Builder punch twice, then assembled into a bow for the front with Mini Glue Dots.
  • A little sparkle with some random Rhinestones puts on the finishing touch!

I can’t wait to give this to my mom on Sunday!  OK…next up is our Create with Connie and Mary website where you can find out more about our NEW May 2016 Mini Session using products from the PREORDER Catalog Items…or get a FREE tutorial by signing up for both May AND June!  Check out the details over there!  Or head backwards to see Melissa’s card for the day!

CCMC Saturday Blog Hop – Tangelo Twist

SP15SatHopWelcome

Hello everyone!  It’s time for another Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop!  Did you hear our news?  The May Create with Connie and Mary Mini Session will be delayed opening until May 18th so that we can offer projects featuring the NEW catalog preorder items!  So exciting!  I was able to get my hands on some of the Premiere items featured at On Stage Convention and am having fun playing with those, too!  Today is the last week that we are featuring the retiring In Colors…Tangelo Twist is this week!  I love this bright orange and will really miss it, especially around Halloween time!

My card this week turned out a little more Mossy Meadow that I had anticipated.  I’m at a stamping retreat this weekend and realized that I had made the wrong color card for this week’s blog hop.  But, I have limited Designer Paper supplies here and no DSP with Tangelo Twist.  So, I let the flower in Best Thoughts, one of the retiring hostess sets, be the pop of Tangelo Twist color I needed.

Best Yet

Here are the details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Tangelo Twist folded in half.
  • On the 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Whisper White, I added a 1-1/4 x 4 strip of English Garden Designer Paper along the bottom and 3/4 x 4 strip of the same across the top.
  • The 1/8″ piece of Gold Metallic Ribbon is wrapped around to the back to adhere and hide the seam.
  • The flower from Best Thoughts was stamped on scrap Whisper White with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and then the flower colored with Tangelo Twist and Mossy Meadow Stampin’ Write Markers.  It was hand-cut and added to the front of the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • I used the Clear Wink of Stella to highlight the entire flower.  Wish you could see the pretty sparkle it gave the flower.
  • Finally, a little bit of 1/8″ Gold Metallic Ribbon was tied around the stem and Best Thoughts greeting stamped with Tuxedo Black Ink.

OK…next up is Mary Brown!  Check out what she came up with for the Tangelo Twist color challenge this week!  Or head backwards to Melissa Davies!

CCMC404 You’re Sublime

It’s Thursday and time for another Create with Connie and Mary Challenge!  This was a fun challenge to do and the Challenge Team really came up with totally different looks for this color combination!  Make sure to check them out over on Create with Connie and Mary!

CCMC404

Here’s what I came up with using the cute little You’re Sublime stamp set:

CCMC404 You're Sublime

Here are the details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Night of Navy, folded in half.
  • On top is a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Smoky Slate.
  • Two crabs from You’re Sublime were stamped with Memento Black Ink on scrap Whisper White, watercolored with Calypso Coral Stampin’ Write Marker and an AquaPainter, then cut out.
  • A 2-1/4 x 5 piece of Regals Night of Navy Polka Dot Pattern Paper was cut with the Triple Banner Punch, then added to the front.
  • A Calypso Coral tag was cut from the Project Life Labels and stamped with the greeting from Remembering Your Birthday in Night of Navy Ink.  It was added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The crabs were added on top of the tag with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Super cute, isn’t it?  I love how it turned out!  OK…again, make sure to check out the rest of the Challenge Team over on Create with Connie and Mary to see what they did with this color combo, then grab your stamps and play along!  We love to see your designs!

SUOC147 Sunburst Grad

It’s time for the SUO Challenge and we are celebrating “Congratulations”…could be any type of congratulations, including graduations!  Since my son will be graduating with his Masters from The Ohio State University in a couple weeks, I decided to use this challenge to make his graduation card…we are SO proud of him!  Holding down a FULL time job (with travel and extra hours), an almost 3-year old at home who is busy, busy…it was not easy over the past 18 months.  His wife, Beth, has certainly picked up the slack!

Adam is a “simple” type of guy, so I didn’t go overboard with embellishments or extras on his card.  Just used the OSU colors of Scarlet and Gray and the Sunburst Framelit…with a little bit of Silver Glimmer Paper bling.

SUOC147 Sunburst Grad

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Smoky Slate, folded in half.
  • The Sunburst Framelit was cut from Real Red cardstock and layered over a 4 x 5-1/4 piece of Smoky Slate, with the extra ends cut off.  It was placed on the base card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Congratulations, Grad from Stampin’ Up!’s B.Y.O.P. stamp set was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink on Whisper White and colored with the Real Red Stampin’ Write Marker, then punched with a 2″ Circle Punch.
  • It is layered on a 2-3/8″ Scallop Circle punched from Silver Glimmer Paper, then popped up on the Sunburst with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Yep…that’s it!  But Adam definitely doesn’t like a lot of fru-fru, so it’s perfect for him and personalized with OSU colors.  This card would also be perfect if you had to mass produce a bunch of them…wouldn’t take long at all!

Make sure to check out the rest of the SUO Challenge Design Team to see what they did with the Congratulations theme!
