Birthday Fiesta

I recently participated in a Incentive Trip swap for the new catalog and I decided to use the fun, colorful Birthday Fiesta for my card!

Birthday Fiesta

Here are the details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Thick Whisper White, folded in half.
  • The 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Tempting Turquoise is embossed with the Festive Embossing Folder.
  • Along the bottom is a 2 x 4 piece of Festive Birthday Designer Paper (LOVE that stripe pattern).
  • The 1-1/2 x 5 piece of Whisper White was stamped with the greeting from Birthday Fiesta stamp set in Melon Mambo, then laid across the front at an angle and trimmed off.
  • A 2″ Punched Circle of Crushed Curry is the “sun” behind the cactus.
  • The cactus from Birthday Fiesta was stamped with Emerald Envy on scrap Whisper White and cut with the  Fiesta Time Framelits.  It is adhered on the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • For the little sombrero, I used the triangle piece in the Framelits cut from Crumb Cake and stamped with the pattern in Birthday Fiesta and Melon Mambo Ink.
  • The hat brim is one of the longer banner pieces from the Fiesta Time Framelits cut apart and adhered to the triangle.  The Emerald Envy Marker was used to draw dots on the brim.  It’s also popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Birthday Fiesta inside

  • Inside the festive banner was stamped with Melon Mambo, Crushed Curry and Emerald Envy along the bottom.  The greeting was stamped with Tempting Turquoise Ink.

I really was SO happy with how this card turned out!!!  Too, too cute!

Falling Flowers Bundle

July2016Collage

We JUST opened the Create with Connie and Mary July Mini Session today, so you don’t want to miss out!  It’s not too late to join to see the fabulous projects our designers did this month!

There are SO many great flower sets in the new catalog…and with coordinating framelits!  I featured Falling Flowers and May Flowers Framelits this month for the July Mini Session and had SO much fun with designing them!  Here’s one card that I didn’t use…but I love it and saved it to share with you.

I love the look of layering the open, lacy May Flowers diecut over Designer Paper…and this one I added interest by having it appear to run off the edge.

May Flowers Framelits

Here are the details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Thick Whisper White cardstock, folded in half.
  • On top is a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Sweet Sugarplum cardstock.
  • Over that is a 3-1/2 x 4-3/4 piece of Blooms & Bliss Designer Paper (love this watercolor pattern!).
  • On the 3 x 4-1/4 piece of Whisper White cardstock, the edge was cut with the May Flowers Framelit to just give an outline.  The greeting from Watercolor Wishes was stamped with Memento Black Ink.
  • Some Sweet Sugarplum Ruched Ribbon was tied around and knotted on the front.  The Whisper White layer was added to the front.
  • Then some scrap Sweet Sugarplum cardstock was cut to make the flower.  The flower was adhered in the outline area and carefully trimmed along the edges to line up with the Whisper White layer.
  • In the center is a Perfect White Accent.

What do you think????  Isn’t that a cool look?    Want to see more ideas?  Don’t forget to head over to Create with Connie and Mary and sign up for our JULY Mini Session…and grab the special bonus if you sign up for both July & August at the same time!!!

CCMC Saturday Blog Hop – Favorite Designer Paper

CreateBannerSU16HopWelcome
This month on Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hops, we are switching it up a little and showing off our FAVORITES!  This week we are featuring our FAVORITE DESIGNER PAPER!  Now…that was a tough one for me!  I pretty much have favorite patterns in each package!  But, I did narrow it down overall to the Festive Birthday Designer Paper package…mainly because of the bright colors and White background!

Birthday Fiesta

Here are the details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Tempting Turquoise.
  • On the 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Soft Sky, two 1/2 x 2 inch strips of Festive Birthday DSP were placed in the left top area.
  • A 2-3/4 x 3-1/2 piece of the festive ribbons in Festive Birthday DSP was cut and corners rounded with the Project Life Corner Rounder Punch, then added to the front.
  • A 2″ Circle of Crushed Curry cardstock was placed in the bottom right corner.
  • The cactus from Birthday Fiesta was stamped with Emerald Envy Ink on Whisper White and cut with the Festive Time Framelits.
  • The flower was stamped with Melon Mambo and cut with the Festive Time Framelit, then added to the cactus with a Mini Glue Dot.  A Rhinestone finishes off the center.
  • The greeting was stamped with Memento Black Ink in the lower left corner.

OK…hope you can see why I like the Festive Birthday Designer Paper!  Next up is the Create with Connie and Mary website to find out more about our July Mini Session or go backwards to Melissa’s blog!  We’re getting ready to start!

Reason for the Season

Gosh!  I rarely have time to play along with challenges anymore, except for our Create with Connie and Mary ones, but The Paper Players has a Christmas in July theme and Freshly Made Sketches has a pretty sketch challenge…a match made in heaven!

PP302
FMS Final 244-001

Here’s what I came up with combining both challenges and using the new Stampin’ Up! This Christmas Specialty Designer Paper!  Aren’t those patterns pretty?

Reason for the Season

Here are the details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Cherry Cobbler, folded in half.
  • On top is a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of This Christmas Specialty DSP.  If you haven’t seen this DSP yet, it is a lighter newspaper weight DSP with MORE sheets per package of the same patterns!
  • On the reverse of the DSP was this fun stripe, so I cut off a row and used as the accent across the bottom.
  • The largest Layering Oval was used to cut the Very Vanilla cardstock, then Peace on Earth was stamped with Chocolate Chip Ink towards the bottom.
  • The outline poinsettia from Reason for the Season was stamped twice with Chocolate Chip Ink on Very Vanilla, then the inside with Cherry Cobbler and the leaves with Garden Green.  An AquaPainter and Cherry Cobbler Marker was used to fill in the rest of the petals.  The full flower was cut by hand, and the other center was cut out and popped up on top .
  • The branches were stamped with Chocolate Chip Ink and hand cut.
  • The center was filled with small Pearls.

That’s it!  I really like how this turned out!

CreateBannerSU16Badge2Don’t forget…TODAY (Friday) is the LAST DAY to register for our Create with Connie and Mary LIVE Event being held on July 30th!  And…we’ll be starting the July Mini Session in a few days!  TWO events that you don’t want to miss!  Find out more details over on Create with Connie and Mary!

CCMC414 May Flowers Framelits

Love the color challenge this week on Create with Connie and Mary and loved that I got to use my May Flowers Framelits, the colors are SO summery!

CCMC414

Here’s my card using the May Flowers Framelits:

CCMC414 May Flowers Framelits

Here are the details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Tangerine Tango, folded in half.
  • On the 3-3/4 x 5 layer of Whisper White, a 1-1/2 x 5 strip of Fruit Stand Designer Paper was placed across the front.
  • Two of the flowers in the May Flowers Framelits were cut from Peekaboo Peach.  One was adhered to Tangerine Tango cardstock, the cut around the shape of the flower.  The layers were adhered together with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • In the center, the small flower from Falling Flowers stamp set was stamped with Cucumber Crush Ink on Cucumber Crush cardstock, then cut with the framelits and added with a Stampin’ Dimensional.
  • Two leaves were cut from Cucumber Crush cardstock and tucked under the flowers.  An In Color Enamel Shape was added to the center.
  • The greeting from Watercolor Wishes was stamped with Cucumber Crush Ink.

I used the sketch from this week’s Create with Connie and Mary to create this card using Moroccan Nights.  Well actually, this was the first card I made with the sketch, but decided not to use for the challenge!  lol!  I actually had all these pieces sitting on my desk from other “starts” to projects, so was happy to use them up!

SUOC142 Bunch of Blossoms

The challenge this time on SUO Challenges is a “Delight in Nature” theme!  Of course, I immediately think of flowers and my Bunch of Flowers stamp set was already sitting on my desk…so great time to use it, right?  And, I have a slight obsession with the Night of Navy, Whisper White and Daffodil Delight combination lately…so why stop?  lol!

SUOC152 Bunch of Blossoms

Here are the details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Daffodil Delight, folded in half.
  • On the 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Whisper White, adhere a 2 x 5 piece of Floral Boutique Designer Paper, cut with a flag end at the bottom.
  • From the Bunch of Blossoms stamp set, stamp the large solid flower image six times with Daffodil Delight on Whisper White, then the two-step inside image with Crushed Curry.  Repeat with the smaller flower five times.  Punch all the pieces with the Blossom Builder Punch.  Adhere together.  TIP:  I use a circle to help me adhere the individual blossoms.
  • Stamp the center with Pumpkin Pie on Whisper White and punch out.  Add a Perfect White Accent to the center, then adhere to the flower and to the card.
  • Stamp the inside leaves with Pear Pizzazz Ink on Garden Green cardstock, then the filler leaves with Garden Green and the outline with Garden Green Ink.  Cut out by hand and tuck under the flower.
  • Stamp the greeting from Bunch of Blossoms with Night of Navy Ink.

OK…make sure to check out what the rest of the Design Team did over on SUO Challenges, then grab your stamps and play along!

CCMC413 Jar of Love

Hello stampers!  Hope you are having a great week!  I’ve been SUPER BUSY this week…has been tough to even catch my breath!  But it is Thursday already and you know what that means…it’s time for another Create with Connie and Mary Challenge!  I LOVE the sketch this week…nice and simple, but I really struggled with narrowing down what to do!  lol!

CCMC413

In the end, I ended up moving my greeting…I just couldn’t get the look I wanted with it across the jar.  But, I think it is close enough and follows the sketch pretty well!

CCMC413 Jar of Love

Here are the details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Thick Whisper White, folded in half.
  • On top is  4 x 5-1/4 layer of Basic Black.
  • Across the 3-7/8 x 5-1/8 layer of Daffodil Delight, a 1/2 strip of Affectionately Yours Designer paper was placed.
  • The Jar from Jar of Love was stamped with Memento Black on Whisper White and cut out.  The fireflies were stamped with Basic Black and their lights with Daffodil Delight.  The lid was stamped with Memento Black on Smoky Slate cardstock.  All were cut with the Everyday Jar Framelits.
  • Some Black Metallic Thread was wound around my fingers, then adhered behind the jar before it was placed on the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The greeting from Jar of Love was stamped with Memento Black under the jar.

OK…that’s it for me!  Make sure to check out the rest of the Challenge Team over on Create with Connie and Mary to see what they did.
