Watercolor Trio

Well..what do you think?  Pretty wild list of retiring products, huh?  Well…don't put off getting what you want or need.  Some things are already gone.  I was thankful that I put in my order for Craft Refills…lots of the colors are gone already.  I did order two Glorious Green Craft Refills by mistake (now sold out) so if you need that color…give me a shout before I send it back to Stampin' Up!

I combined a couple challenges today, the ColourQ (CQC35) challenge and Mercy's Sketch Challenge (MTSC76).  Well…the colors were DEFINITELY a stretch…can you say BRIGHT!  I tried to calm them down a little with some white layers.  I did use Dusty Durango instead of Tangerine Tango…there is a slight shade difference, but I used what I had available.  You can see what my partner, Mary, did with this sketch and color challenge HERE!  She warns you to put on your sunglasses!

OK…I'll admit it…I'm obsessed with Stampin' Up!'s Watercolor Trio stamp set.  I just love how easy it is to use!  It was still laying out from my Technique Class last night, so it was just TOO tempting to use!  I started to build the card with the greeting from Stampin' Up!'s Favorite Thoughts stamp set in the Summer Mini.  I love the greetings in this set!  I stamped the saying in Dusty Durango on Whisper White.  I inked up my flower with Stampin' Write Markers in Dusty Durango, Crushed Curry, Green Galore and a little Glorious Green on the edges of the leaves, then stamped it around the edges of the Whisper White.  I layered this on Dusty Durango cardstock.  Next I inked up the leaf image with Green Galore, then edged with my Glorious Green Stampin' Write Marker and stamped in the lower right corner of the Green Galore cardstock.  I wrapped the Dusty Durango Polka Dot Ribbon around and tied.  This all was layered on Whisper White that I ran thru the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dots Impressions Folder.  The base of the card is Crushed Curry.  I added some Crushed Curry Beautiful Wings Embosslit butterflies to the leaves and above the greeting.  I liked how this turned out!  This will be a birthday card for my husband's assistant at work!  I think she'll like it!

Tomorrow is the premier of Create with Connie and Mary's Weekly Challenges!  We've done these with our subscribers, but now are opening it up to everyone who wants to participate!  We'll have Mr. Linky available for you to play along and show us what you can do with the sketch, color or inspiration challenge of the week!  So stop by tomorrow for more information and see what we are doing!

Bloggers Challenge – Sketch

Can you believe it???  We are getting SNOW!  Last night we had an inch or so.  I'm scheduled to go out of town Friday morning, so I hope the weather cooperates and I can go.  I'm all ready for the class, so I'd hate to cancel it.

Lisa came up with a really cool sketch for us to use in this week's Bloggers' Challenge!  I really liked the circle element on this sketch.

I started with a base card of Old Olive cardtock and added a layer of Kaleidoscope Designer Paper.  I stamped the daffodils from Stampin' Up!'s Abundant Hope stamp set in Old Olive on Whisper White.  Then I colored them with my Stampin' Write Markers in Pumpkin Pie, Yo Yo Yellow and Old Olive along with the AquaPainter.  I used the Circle Scissors Plus and cut out the circle shape, then layered it on an Old Olive circle.  I used the Scallops #2 die to make my yellow scallop circle.

Across the bottom I placed a stripe of Old Olive from Cottage Wall Designer Paper.  I added butterflies from the Beautiful Wings Embosslit cut from Chocolate Chip Cardstock.  And I added crystals from Eggscellent Eggs Kit on the bodies of the butterflies.  Finally, I stamped Happy Easter from Teeny Tiny Wishes on Old Olive and punched with the Word Window Punch, then shortened it by placing it inside the Word Window again and cutting it down to match the print..  Fun card!

As you may have noticed, I've been extremely busy with classes and projects and not getting to my blog posting!  I hope to be back on schedule next week!  Have a great weekend!

Garden Whimsey – Stamping 411

It's Saturday and time for another Stamping 411 sketch challenge!  I always love to see what the other Operators create.  I'm amazed at how different our cards normally are, even using the same sketch!

I'm desperately wanting SPRING to get here and warm weather to get rid of the snow, so I thought I'd help it along by posting a spring card!  I always love seeing the tulips pop up thru the ground.

This set, Stampin' Up!'s Garden Whimsey, hasn't been used for a LONG time, so I thought I'd give it a little ink.  I also have a package of bright Kaleidoscope Designer Paper that I wanted to use.

I started by using my Stampin' Write markers to ink up the tulips in Pixie Pink and Melon Mambo, the stems in Certainly Celery and Garden Green.  They were stamped three times on Whisper White and layered onto Garden Green.  I used the dotted background paper in Kaleidoscope to tie the two greens together.  I used the Eyelet Border punch along the bottom of a strip of Whisper White, then wrapped the Melon Mambo Polka Dot Ribbon around the top portion of it and adhered to the back.  This all was placed on the Pixie Pink base card.  The butterflies were done using the Beautiful Wings Embosslit and Pixie Pink cardstock.  I used a sponge dauber to add the darker Melon Mambo color around the edges.  For their bodies, I used the little sticky rhinestones in the Eggcellent Egg Kit (I am LOVING those rhinestones!)  It really makes them sparkle!

I hope you take a minute to check out what the rest of the Design Operators on Stamping 411 did with this sketch!  Then make your card creation, upload it to your gallery or blog, and add it to Mr. Linky over on the Stamping 411 blog.

Have a great weekend!  I'm going to be sorting stuff to get ready to do my taxes next week.  Yuk!!!

Beautiful Wings Coaster Calendar

I wanted to make a small gift for my Stamp Club Members last month and had some calendars I hadn't used.  So, while I was at my friend Mindy's house, I made up some of these Coaster Calendars!  Anyone else still have hundreds of these coasters in their stamp room?  lol!  But, I really do use them.

By coincidence, it also fits my design team assignment for Late Night Stampers this week, which is all about butterflies!

I started by covering the front of the coaster with Pretty in Pink cardstock.  I added a strip of the glittery Sending Love Designer Paper to the front.  Then I used Stampin' Up!'s Beautiful Wings Embosslit Die with Very Vanilla cardtock to make my pretty embossed butterflies!  I love that it embosses AND cuts at the same time!  On the large butterfly, I added one of the 1/4 Chocolate Chip Epoxy Brads…they are TOO fun.  After I placed the brad, I finished off the back with another piece of Pretty in Pink cardstock and added a strip of Magnet Sheet so that it can be hung on the refrigerator!

I like it…what about you?

NOTE:  I will be closing this round of the 5/8 Satin Ribbon Shares at the end of the week. Please see this POST for more information on the Ribbon Shares and the Paypal button!  If you need it shipped or want more than one share, please use the drop-down menu to make that selection.
