CCMC Saturday Blog Hop Trim it Down

Woohoo!  The theme this week for the Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop is TRIM IT DOWN!  Yes…definitely a FEW ways things need to trim down around here, but specifically this means no more than two layers and one embellishment.

I hope my card meets that criteria…after it was done and I was getting ready to post, I had second thoughts!  But, in my mind it does fit the criteria…I don’t count the punches as layers or embellishments.  lol!

Going Global

Here are the details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Thick Whisper White cardstock, folded in half.
  • On top the 3-3/4 x 5 layer of Night of Navy cardstock was embossed with the World Traveler Embossing Folder.  I placed it on the base at an angle, then trimmed off the excess.
  • The greeting from Going Global stamp set was stamped in the lower right corner with Real Red Ink.
  • The globe from Going Global was stamped with Night of Navy on Whisper White, then punched with the 2″ Circle Punch and layered on the 2-3/8″ Scallop Circle punched from Real Red Glimmer Paper and adhered to the front.
  • The Love banner from one of the other greetings was stamped with Real Red Ink, the banner cut by hand and layered over the globe with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Finally, two Real Red Candy Dots for embellishments were placed in the upper right corner.

CCMC Saturday Blog Hop – Traditional Christmas

It’s Saturday and time for another Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop! We are featuring traditional Christmas colors for this week’s hop! Check out these fun ideas from our Design Team!

To me, poinsettias are Christmas!  I love seeing them all over the place, especially the red ones.  I wish I could have one (or more!) in my home, but my CAT loves to eat leaves off any real plant.  Since I believe I’ve heard that poinsettias are poisonous to small animals, I haven’t had any around on display.  Because poinsettias are very traditional, I used Reason for the Season this week.  This idea could also be used as a stand-along tag if you needed an idea for those!

Reason for the Season 2
Here are the details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Mossy Meadow cardstock (my favorite green this year!).
  • On top is a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Whisper White, embossed with the Woodgrain folder.
  • A 2 x 3-1/4 strip of Merry Moments DSP was punched at the top with the Ornate Tag Topper punch.  Some Thick Cherry Cobbler Twine was tied thru the hole.  It was attached to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The Reason for the Season stamp set poinsettia outline was stamped (twice) with Black Archival Ink, then the petals with Real Red and leaves with Old Olive.  An AquaPainter was used to add more Real Red and Old Olive colors in the images.  The full image was cut, then just the center portion of the second one was cut, then adhered together with a Stampin’ Dimensional.  It was placed on the tag with more Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Peace be with you from the same stamp set was stamped with Mossy Meadow Ink on a 3/4 x 1-1/2 strip of Whisper White and cut into a flag end, then tucked under the poinsettia.  It is adhered with another Stampin’ Dimensional.
  • In the center of the Poinsettia is a few drops of the Gold Dazzling Details and adds a little sparkle!

OK…next up on the Blog Hop is our Create with Connie and Mary website so you can find out more about signing up for our November (and December bonus!) subscriptions, then continue onto Mary’s blog from there!  Our November session is NOW OPEN!

CCMC Saturday Blog Hop Watermelon Wonder

The theme for this week’s Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Design Team Blog Hop is using the color, Watermelon Wonder, predominately on our cards!  Over the next few weeks, we’ll be showcasing ALL the new In Colors!

But first, our newest session of Create with Connie and Mary started last SUNDAY! We are doing a MINI Session featuring sets in the new catalog! Check out the details on Create with Connie and Mary and for a sneak peek snippet of the projects we did…it’s not too late to join!

Here’s the card I made featuring Watermelon Wonder.

Garden in Bloom 4
Here the details to recreate this card!

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 HEAVY Whisper White, folded in half.
  • On top is  a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of regular Whisper White.
  • The 3-1/2 x 4-3/4 layer of Watercolor Wonder was embossed with the Brick Embossing Folder.  Hello from Watercolor Wishes Kit was stamped with Tuxedo Black Ink.  It was adhered to the front.
  • The outline flower from Garden in Bloom was stamped twice with Watercolor Wonder on Whisper White and cut out.  The center was stamped with the small dot in Garden in Bloom and Crushed Curry Ink.  The solid leaves were stamped off with Cucumber Crush and the outline full strength Cucumber Crush and cut out.
  • A 1-1/2 x 4 strip from Everyday Chic Designer Paper was placed on the front.
  • The two flowers and leaves were added to the DSP with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Finally, a Perfect White Accent was added next to the greeting!

Love how the Watermelon Wonder color pops off against the white and black!  OK…next up is the Create website so you can check out the new July Mini Session of Create with Connie and Mary, then continue on around the blog hop! Enjoy!

You Brighten My Day Blog Hop

It’s Saturday!  Time for the weekly Create with Connie and Mary Design Team Blog Hop!  This week’s stamp selection is You Brighten My Day from the Sale-A-Bration catalog, one of the free sets you can get with a $50 purchase!  It’s a cute set that matches several of Stampin’ Up!’s punches!  You’ve probably just come from Deb Currier’s Blog…love her card, don’t you?

So here is my card for this week’s blog hop!  I combined the “sunburst” from Kinda Eclectic behind the light bulb.  I think this light bulb is a great image for so many different type cards!

You Brighten My Day
Here are the details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Crushed Curry folded in half.
  • On the 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Whisper White, the “sunburst” from Kinda Eclectic was stamped with Crushed Curry Ink towards the top left side, and You Brighten My Day greeting was stamped with Tuxedo Black Ink.
  • Two 1/2 x 5 strips of Stacked with Love Designer Paper were cut with staggered flag ends and placed towards the bottom.
  • A tiny 1/8″ x 5-1/4 strip of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper was placed over the seam.
  • The light bulb was stamped on scrap Whisper White with Tuxedo Black Ink and colored with Crushed Curry Marker.  It was punched with the 1-1/4″ Circle Punch and layered on 1-3/8″ Basic Black punched circle.  It was popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals on the front of the card inside the “sunburst”.
  • Finally, the Best Year Ever accessory button was tied with White Bakers Twine and placed on the front with Mini Glue Dots!

OK…next up is Mary Brown…you KNOW I love her work!  Have fun taking the blog hop!

BLOG HOP at Create with Connie and Mary!

Yes!  Our very first DESIGN TEAM BLOG HOP over at Create with Connie and Mary to celebrate PREVIEW WEEK!  We're getting ready to start our CARDS ONLY Edition, Card Create-tions 2014, featuring stamp sets and products from the main and Occasions catalogs!  You've probably just come from designer, Deb Currier's blog…love her classy style!

Here's my card using So Very Grateful, one of the sets I'm featuring during this session of Card Create-tions 2014!  I love how easy this image is to watercolor!  And, it looks so great combined with Gingham Garden Designer Paper.  I used three different patterns on here…a great way to use up those leftover narrow strips!

Here are the details:

  1. The base is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 Whisper White folded in half to make the base card.
  2. I added a 4 x 5 1/4 layer of Daffodil Delight across the front.
  3. On the 3 7/8 x 5 1/8 layer of checked Gingham Garden DSP, I added a 3/4 x 5 1/8" strip of the yellow stripe pattern, then added a 1/2 x 5 1/8" strip of the pink pattern and added them to the front.
  4. I stamped the floral image from So Very Grateful with Black Stazon on Whisper White, then cut with the Oval Framelit.  I watercolored with Daffodil Delight, Pear Pizzazz, Strawberry Slush and Island Indigo Stampin' Write Markers.  I popped it up on the front with Stampin' Dimensionals.
  5. In the center of the flowers, I added small pearls.
  6. Next I stamped the greeting with Island Indigo on Whisper White and hand-cut it out.  I also placed it with Stampin' Dimensionals.
  7. Finally, I thought it needed a little extra bling.  I used some Candy Dots on the DSP strip above the greeting!

So…go on to our next stop, Mary Brown's blog!  You are going to love her card, I'm sure!  Enjoy the Design Team's Blog Hop!
