Bloggers Challenge – Happy Moments

Today is Friday and time for Bloggers' Challenge!  This week's challenge was to use the color Green and a neutral!  Wow!  I had a tough time finding a stamp that I could just color in greens.  Now…I'm sure all the fabulous ladies will find lots of ways to use the color green!

My card started with a base of Garden Green cardstock.  I layered on the green print from Kaleidoscope (I know…I'm hooked on this paper!)  I did the scallop rectangle with both the Scallop Corner Trim Punch and Scallop Border Trim Punch from Confetti White cardstock.  Then I layered Garden Green and Certainly Celery in the center.  I stamped the gifts from Stampin' Up!'s free Sale-A-Bration set, Happy Moments, in Basic Black on Confetti White and watercolored it with my Stampin' Write Markers and AquaPainter.  Finally, I added the White Satin Ribbon in the background and added a pretty Satin White bow on the front!

Hope you have a great weekend!  While you are reading this, I'm at a long weekend stamping retreat!  I'm SURE I'm having fun!

Bloggers Challenge – Sketch

I'm back!  I've been hit or miss on the Bloggers' Challenges the past month.  Just too crazy busy, I guess!  I love sketch challenges, though, so couldn't let this one go by without doing up a card real quick!

Here is the sketch for today's challenge.  I decided to turn it on the vertical to make my card.

The Stampin' Up! stamp, A Brand New Year, is one I really purchased for future use.  I knew that I wouldn't be making New Year's cards THIS year, but I loved this stamp!  I figure sometime in the future, I can use it on scrapbook pages or for invitations.  I don't have anything like it in my stash!

I started with a base of Shimmer White cardstock and layered on Brushed Gold cardstock.  I ran the Soft Suede layer thru the Big Shot with the Petals A Plenty Impressions Folder and highlighted each of the flower centers with a blender pen and Encore Gold Metallic Ink.  I stamped the A Brand New Year image in Versamark on Shimmer White and embossed with Gold Embossing Powder.  I colored in the champagne glass with Sahara Sand Stampin' Write Marker.  This was layered onto Basic Black for some drama!  As a final touch, I added three clear round Rhinestone Brads along the left side and a strip of Groom Designer Stripe Paper along the top!

I think this card has a lot of impact!  What do you think?  I hope you have a wonderful weekend and finish up everything you need to do to get ready for Christmas!

Bloggers Challenge – Techniques

Good morning!  Today's Bloggers' Challenge was to pick a technique to do.  I just had my Technique Class last week, so I chose one of those cards to feature!  I showed everyone how to do the Mosaic technique I learned from Technique Junkies.

I chose my colors from the stripe in Thoroughly Modern Designer Paper.  I used Melon Mambo, Bermuda Bay and Soft Suede cardstock to complement it.

The base card is Bermuda Bay, then I laid down a 2" strip of Sticky Page and added my mosaic pieces.  The grout lines were filled with Gold Embossing Powder.

The focal point I stamped the wreath in Soft Suede and the berries in Melon Mambo.  The bow was added with the Melon Mambo marker.  This piece was layered on Soft Suede and then Melon Mambo cardstock.  I cut the little bird from Merry Details Sizzlet Die in my Big Shot!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!  Should be a good football game on tomorrow with Ohio State playing Penn State!  Go Bucks!

Bloggers Challenge 122 – No Layers!

No layers!  Oh my!  Sometimes the simplest looking cards are the hardest to make!  However, this one did come together pretty quickly!  I started with a different idea, but this is how it turned out.  I do like it!  I love Stampin' Up!'s Level 1 Hostess Set, Patterned Pines and used it here!

I started with Shimmer White Cardstock!  Every card looks elegant with Shimmer Paper.  I stamped the trio of Patterned Pines image with Gable Green Craft Ink and then embossed it with Clear Embossing Powder.  I added a Summer Sun Classic Ink star at the top of the center tree.  Merry Christmas from Christmas Greetings (a MUST have set!) is stamped in Rich Razzleberry and I did use my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig for placement.  Finally, I wrapped some Gold Stretch Cord around the card and tied with a bow (which would NOT stay flat for photographing!)  lol!

That's it!  I'm anxious to see what the other Bloggers Challenge players came up with for this challenge!  Have a great weekend.  Come back tomorrow for Stamping 411's sketch challenge!

Bloggers Challenge – Alter it!

It is Friday and time for another Bloggers Challenge!  The theme this week is Alter it!  Well…I think everyone knows this is one of my favorite themes.  I’ve been holding off on sharing these until this week.

At the Stampin’ Up! Convention, they showed how to make beautiful magnet boards showcasing our gorgeous Designer Paper!  After Convention, our group does a Round Up meeting and shows the other members in our downlines what we learned at Convention.  I focused on this project and made the following magnet boards for my home.

The first one uses one of the Large On Board Book Basics that I painted with Chalkboard Paint.  This is available at your local hardware store in the spray paint area.  It is in a pint sized can, but inside a box if you are looking for it.  Runs about $21.  It took 2 coats to get covered and you need to have them shake it and use it right away, or spend some time stirring up the magnetic particles from the bottom settling of the can.

I stamped some Game Day images on Whisper White and cut them to 1" size, then adhered them to Scallop Square punches.  There is a strong magent on the back of each of them.  I cut the Let’s Play with the Big Shot and Stampin’ Up!’s exclusive Timeless Type dies and Real Red Cardstock.  I added a strip of Jackpot Designer Paper, layered on So Saffron cardstock along the left side and some 5/8 Real Red Grosgrain Ribbon.  I used my Crop-A-Dile to punch two holes in the top of the decorated On Board and added additional 5/8 Real Red Grosgrain Ribbon for a hanger.  The back is also covered with Jackpot Designer Paper.  Wouldn’t this be great to put a note on reminding everyone of the time for Game Night or your sports schedule?

The second one, I actually found a square 9×9 metal sign that was flat on the front.  I rounded the corners and used Sticky Strip to adhere the Tall Tales Designer Paper to the front.  Can you see the animal magnets?  I cut out the animal/tree images from the Tall Tales Designer Paper pattern and laminated them to keep them from getting torn.  Then I placed a heavy magnet on the back with Crystal Effects.  I added some magnets to the back of a couple Designer Buttons, too.  The sign already had hangers on the back, so I tied on the 1" Rose Red Double-Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon to them to make the hanger.  Wouldn’t this be cute in a kid’s room?

Those are my two altered projects for this week!  Hope you like them!

Bloggers Challenge – Love

Today’s Bloggers’ Challenge theme is LOVE.  Now…I’m not quite ready for Valentine’s Day, but thought this Stampin’ Up! set, Wandering Words, would fit the theme very well!  This also fits my Design Team Challenge for Late Night Stampers to "bling it up!"  I cased the layout on page 71, but added another layer, texturized the background, pierced the scalllops and added Square Rhinestone brads!

I started by using my Stampin’ Write Markers to ink up the Wandering Words image with Close to Cocoa and Melon Mambo and stamped on Whisper White cardstock.  I layered it on Close to Cocoa cardstock, the added the two Fire Square Rhinestone Brads.  I took a piece of Pretty in Pink cardstock and ran it thru the Big Shot with the Finial Press Impressions Folder to add some texture.  I layered on a strip of Melon Mambo cardstock, pierced the edge with my Paper Piercing Tool and then wrapped Melon Mambo Polka Dot Ribbon around to the back and adhered.  I used a cheater bow in the front.  I punched a small strip of Melon Mambo cardstock with my Scallop Edge Punch, then pierced holes in each of the scallops.  The stamped image element was added with Stampin’ Dimensionals and everything placed on the Melon Mambo base card.

Don’t forget it is Preview Week over at Create with Connie and Julie!  Julie has a cute tutorial today using the long tag from the Table Settings Bigz XL die!

Have a GREAT weekend!

Bloggers’ Challenge – Color challenge

Today’s Bloggers’ Challenge is a color throwdown!  We were to use Crushed Curry, Chocolate Chip, Melon Mambo and a neutral.  Can you say BRIGHT!  I naturally thought of flowers…but no green in there.  Then I looked at this stamp set and realized I had never used this image from the For All You Do set.  The card came together pretty easy after that!

I started by stamping the flower image in Melon Mambo on Whisper White and layered it on both Melon Mambo and Chocolate Chip.  Before putting it on the Chocolate Chip layer, I pierced each of the centers of the little flowers with my Paper Piercer and mat.  Now the Chocolate Chip layer peeks thru the holes!

I used some Razzleberry Lemonade Designer Paper and layered it on Chocolate Chip.  I needed some buttons in the Melon Mambo color, but didn’t have anything close to that color in my Stampin’ Up! supplies.  I decided to use the Button die in my Big Shot with the Melon Mambo cardstock.  I cut small slivers of Chocolate Chip cardstock to feed thru the holes in the buttons to look like thread!  All these elements were layered on Crushed Curry and I wrapped some Melon Mambo Polka Dot Ribbon around it and tied with a knot.  Then placed everything on the base card of Chocolate Chip cardstock.

I love the contrast of colors…they just POP!

I hope you have a great weekend!  I’m looking forward to relaxing a little!

Bloggers Challenge – Thinking of You

Happy Friday!  I’m headed off this afternoon to attend the Cincinnati Regionals tomorrow!  Woohoo!!!  So excited…it is like a mini Convention!  I’ll be catching up with several people I normally only see at Convention or Leadership, so that will be fun!

Today’s Bloggers’ Challenge is to create a Thinking of You card.  I seem to use a lot of this type of card.  I wanted to use one of the new fall sets in the Holiday Mini called Autumn Splendor.  The leaves have a beautiful fine drawing which makes it perfect for coloring, embossing or just stamping in colors.  I have seen some gorgeous cards done with this set!

I also used the coordinating fall designer paper in the big catalog, called Autumn Traditions.  These are definitely MY colors!  I love the Earth Elements color family!  The base is More Mustard and I placed a layer of Soft Suede cardstock on top of that.  Then I punched 1 1/4 squares from the Designer Paper and placed them like tiles in the background.  I stamped the leaf with Versamark on More Mustard and the acorns on Soft Suede, embossed them with Gold Embossing Powder, then cut them out.  Thinking of You is from Thoughts & Prayers stamp set.  I cut out the tag from the Matchbox XL Bigz Die with my Big Shot and More Mustard cardstock, then stamped the words in Basic Brown and sponged the edges. I really like how this turned out!

I hope you have a WONDERFUL weekend!  It is supposed to be gorgeous here!

Bloggers Challenge 114 – Sketch

Yeah!  Today’s Bloggers’ Challenge is a sketch card!  I love sketches, as you know!  This is a pretty easy one, once I had my stamp set figured out!

I love this time of year, I get to pull out my Halloween sets…and yes, I have a LOT of Halloween sets.  Except, Just Jawing isn’t really a Halloween set…more of a teen stamp set, but I love the skull.  (And Tonya, yes…if you are reading this, I have changed my mind about this set!)  I received it free during the promotion last year and finally got it cut and mounted a couple months ago.  I’ve found it useful for doing cards for my teenage niece and nephew!

Anyway…here is the card I did using this sketch!

I started by stamping the skull with White Craft ink on a piece of Cast-A-Spell Designer Paper (can you see the bats and such in the background?) and embossed with White Embossing Powder.  I then used some Tombow Multipurpose glue and colored in the heart eyes with glue and sprinkled on some Celery Fine Cosmo Glitter.  Fun!  I roughed up the edges with my Cutter Kit Distressing Tool and layered it on an Old Olive piece of cardstock and distressed those edges, too.  That element was layered onto Pumpkin Pie cardstock, also distressed and inked with Basic Black and a sponge dauber.  I wrapped some of the delicious 1 1/4 Striped Pumpkin Pie Grosgrain Ribbon (this stuff ties SO nicely!).  I made up some Faux Diamond Dust glitter paper (rub Versamark over your cardstock, add Iridescent Ice EP and heat set) with Old Olive cardstock and punched three of the small hearts from the Heart to Heart punch and adhered them to the Pumpkin Pie cardstock with Mini Glue Dots.  Finally, I stamped Happy Halloween from Teeny Tiny Wishes in black ink under the hearts.  (If you don’t have that Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set yet…what are you waiting for?  I use it on almost EVERY card now!  It has 28 different greetings that are the perfect size for small wishes!)

I hope you have a great weekend!  Other than my Demo Convention Round Up meeting on Sunday, I think I’m in for a quiet one…yeah!

Click here if you’d like to place an order to join my team!  Remember, the $85 mini starter kit ends on August 31.  What do you have to lose?  You get wonderful Stampin’ Up! product and if you decide it isn’t for you…you can always be my customer again!

Bloggers Challenge 109 – Christmas in July

I love Christmas in July challenges!  It gets me thinking about this year’s cards and what I may want to do.  I have a TON of Christmas stamp sets, so sometimes it is hard to narrow it down to want I want to do.  I always do my Christmas cards at the Fall Stamping Retreat I attend.  This year it is at the end of October vs. mid November, so I’m going to need an even earlier start!

I love the Medallion Background stamp in the new catalog!  I’ve had this idea in my head for a while, but finally had a chance to get it out into a card!  I stamped the Medallion BG on Bermuda Bay with White Craft Ink and embossed with White EP…wow, does that white POP off that Bermuda Bay color!  Next, I stamped the Snowmen from The More the Merrier Level 3 Hostess Set (omit stamped) with Basic Black marker on Whisper White, so I only had the trio of 3 again.  Colored them with the Real Red and Bermuda Bay markers.  Then I punched it with the 1 3/4 Circle.  I used the Circle Bigz Die to cut out the Real Red cardstock to layer behind it.  It is all popped up on Dimensionals.  Finally, I added the Real Red striped ribbon in the upper right corner and the Winter Wishes (warm was cut off) I made as a little banner under the center element!  Fun!  I love how it turned out!

Hope you check out the rest of the Bloggers to see what they’ve done.  I know I’ll get LOTS of inspiration!

LOTS going on this weekend!  I’ll be gone a few days, but have already set my posts…hopefully all will go well with them.

Remember to check out Stamping 411 sketch challenge on Saturday and the Royal Blog Tour begins on Sunday!
