Bloomin’ Love

Ready for a Clean & Simple card?  This one is super simple…at least on the outside!  Really, the Blushing Bride Glimmer Paper punched heart and Clear Wink of Stella on the row of punched hearts is what gives it a little pizzazz…plus the Love Blossoms Designer Paper!  CAS-ology’s week 183 challenge is to use Glitter, so this qualifies!

Bloomin Love

Here are the details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Rose Red, folded in half.
  • On top is a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Blushing Bride.
  • On the 3-3/4 x 5 layer of Whisper White, a 3-1/4 x 3-3/4 piece of Love Blossoms Designer Paper was added to the bottom.
  • To hide the seam, 6 Small Hearts were punched from Rose Red and adhered across the front and the row of hearts were highlighted with some Clear Wink of Stella.
  • The greeting from Stampin’ Up!’s Bloomin’ Love stamp set was stamped with Rose Red.
  • Another Small Heart was punched from Blushing Bride Glimmer Paper.

That’s it!  It would be super easy to make up a bunch of these, put a Valentine greeting on the inside and be done.  But…if you want to step up the INSIDE, here’s what I did!

Bloomin Love inside

  • A 3/4 x 4 strip of the same Love Blossoms DSP was added to the bottom of a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Whisper White cardstock.
  • Love You from the same Bloomin’ Love Stamp Set was stamped with Tuxedo Black Ink.
  • The floral Heart from Bloomin’ Love was stamped with Blushing Bride Ink.
  • The arrow was made by punching the Small Heart Punch from Blushing Bride Glimmer paper, a skinny strip of Basic Black cardstock and the small Banner Punch of Rose Red, cut with slits to look like feathers.

That’s it!  Isn’t it fun?  I think I may give this one to my husband for Valentine’s Day, even though it is sort of flowery, I think he’ll like it!

Jan 2016 Tour de Freaks

freakwelcome2013It’s time again for the Tour de Freaks!  Our theme this month is “Love is in the Air”…very appropriate for Valentine’s Day that is coming up soon!  You’ve probably just come from Wendy Weixler’s blog, her projects are darling, aren’t they?  Click at the bottom to continue around the tour…there are 11 stops this time.

I chose to use Love Blossoms Suite of products for my projects since they are definitely great colors for Valentine’s Day.  I’ve been wanting to do a little banner for my lamp shade.  The lamp sits on a table that is visible when my customers come down the stairs and I try to change out the tablescape each holiday.  Here’s a closeup.

Here it is draped on the lamp shade (sorry I can’t show you the entire Valentine tablescape…it is so cute, but it has some private class items on it!)

Some quick details:

  • The Thick Whisper White background on the banners is 2 x 4-1/4, punched with the Triple Banner Punch.  The Love Blossoms layer on top is 1-3/4 x 4, punched with the Triple Banner Punch, then adhered together with the White Baker’s Twine sandwiched between the two layers.
  • On three of the banners, Blushing Bride Glimmer Paper was punched with the Sweetheart Punch and the Little Letters Thinlet Dies “L, V, and E” were die-cut from Red Metallic Paper and adhered with Tombow Multipurpose Glue to the Glimmer Paper hearts.
  • On the fourth banner, a 3/4 x 3-3/4 strip of Glimmer Paper was punched with the Triple Banner Punch and adhered down the center.  The heart from Bloomin’ Love stamp set was stamped with Real Red on Blushing Bride cardstock and hand-cut.  Over top the Be Mine was stamped with Tuxedo Black Ink in the center of the Garden Green banner and hand-cut.  It was placed on the banner with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Plus, the letter “O” from the Red Metallic Paper was added on the banner.
  • Three of the larger outline flowers were stamped with Tuxedo Black on Real Red and three of the smaller outline flowers were stamped with Tuxedo Black on Blushing Bride.  The larger outline flower was also stamped twice more with Tuxedo Black on Garden Green and the petals cut to form leaves on three of the banners.
  • Small flowers were added to the larger flowers with Mini Glue Dots, and the leaves tucked under them.  Perfect White Accents were added to the center of the flowers.
  • The Clear Wink of Stella was added to all the petals for lots of shimmer!

That’s it for the banner!  The leftover piece of 2 x 3-1/2 Red Metallic Paper that I cut out the letters, I used for my card.

Jan 2016 Bloomin' Love card

CCMC387 Bloomin’ Love

We’re back!  Last time it was nice to have the challenge run two weeks…and the challenge team enjoyed a little break!  But…it’s time for another Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge…a fun sketch!

CCMC387

Although it looks square, I switched mine out to the normal rectangle style to make it easier to mail and used the beautiful Bloomin’ Love stamp set!

  • A piece of 1-1/2 x 4-1/2 and a smaller 1-1/4 x 2-1/2 strip of Love Blossoms Designer Paper were also punched with the Triple Banner Punch and added on top according to the sketch.
  • A 1/4 x 4-1/4 strip of Blushing Bride Glimmer Paper was placed across the top.
  • My Valentine from Bloomin’ Love was stamped with Rose Red on Whisper White and punched with the 2″ Circle Punch, then added to a 2-3/8 Scallop Circle punched from Rose Red and pierced the scallops with the Piercing Tool.  It was added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The two flowers were stamped with Blushing Bride and Rose Red Ink, cut out and added to the front with the string of pearls from the Love Blossoms Embellishment Kit added under the flowers.  One of the pearls was also glued to the center of the flower.

Pretty, huh?  OK…go check out what the rest of the Challenge Team did over on Create with Connie and Mary, then grab your stamps and play along!  We’d love to see what you do with this sketch!

Hope you have a safe and Happy New Year!

Dec 2015 Control Freaks Blog Hop

freakwelcome2013

Gosh…it has been a few months since I’ve been able to participate in the monthly Control Freaks Blog Hop!  Just been really busy at that scheduled time of the month so couldn’t swing getting any extra projects done!  But, I’m excited to be back and able to participate!  The theme this month is the new goodies from the Occasions or Sale-a-Bration catalogs!  I decided to use a set that has been sitting on my desk the past few days, Bloomin’ Love!  You’ve probably just come from Debbie Henderson’s blog...always love her projects, don’t you?

I must admit…I’m ready to move on from making Christmas cards!  Who doesn’t love some sweet Valentines?  I love the flowery set, Bloomin’ Love in the Occasions Catalog…and the yummy Love Blossoms Designer Paper and coordinating Love Blossoms Embellishment Kit!  So much FUN stuff!

First up is this heart apothecary jar that I picked up at the M*** store AGES ago…in fact, I was with Mary Brown when I bought it and shipped it back with me from Palm Springs, California after Leadership that year.  I have used the clear ones that I bought…but this red one has been sitting on my shelf so I pulled it out to use!

Here’s the duo together!  Love how this little gift ensemble came out!  Fill the apothecary jar with candies or bath salts for a nice little gift!
