Petal Potpourri Box

I promised I’d share the directions on how to make the box I did for the Control Freaks Blog Hop this month!  We aren’t permitted to have extra “links” the first couple days of the tour so people don’t get off track on the tour.  But, finally I can share!  Here you go!

Jan 2015 Tour de Freaks

freakwelcome2013

Wow!  It’s time for another Tour de Freaks blog hop!  The theme this time is Love or Valentines…perfect timing, huh?  You’ve probably just arrived from the fabulous Julie Davison’s blog.  Love her fun projects, didn’t you?

When deciding what to do for this tour, I knew I wanted to use the Hello Life stamp set.  It really is so much more than a Valentine set!  I love that large “do more of what makes you happy” greeting!  But, since our theme is Love or Valentine’s, I went with the obvious hearts and paired it with the Stacked with Love Designer Paper Stack.  Here’s my little duo of projects!

Jan 2015 Hello Life

I also adore the new Bow Builder Punch…I’ve used it a couple ways on my projects.  The card has the simple bow and the top of the box has a package bow!  Both are SO easy to make!  Here are a few details:

Jan 2015 Hello Life card

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11, folded in half.
  • Crumb Cake layer is 4 x 5-1/4
  • The heart DSP is 2-1/4 x 4 with a strip of coordinating DSP sized 1/2 x 4 to hide the seam.
  • The script Love was stamped with Tuxedo Black Ink along the bottom.
  • The small polka dot heart was stamped with Real Red and hand-cut (no punch or framelit that size…bummer!)
  • The “happy” greeting was stamped with Tuxedo Black on Real Red and cut with the Heart Framelits and added to the front of the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The Stacked with Love DSP was punched twice with the Bow Builder Punch and put together with Mini Glue dots and added to the bottom of the large heart.

The Tiny Box was so quick and easy to make, too!

Jan 2015 Hello Life Tiny Box

  • All four sides were covered with the 1-3/4 x 1-3/4 squares of the diagonal stripe in Stacked with Love DSP.
  • On the sides and back, 1/4 x 1-3/4 strips of coordinating DSP were adhered across the center.
  • Four hearts were stamped…two in Calypso Coral (striped heart) and two in Real Red (polka dot heart) on Whisper White and hand-cut, then placed with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The front DSP was stamped with the script Love in Tuxedo Black, and an additional Red Glimmer Heart was cut with the small Heart Framelit.
  • A rhinestone jewel on the front heart added a little bling.

Jan 2015 Hello Life bow

  • The top uses four of the Bow Builder Punches from Stacked with Love DSP.  The tails were added to a 1″ circle with Mini Glue Dots and then staggered the looped bows on top of them.  A 7/8″ Scallop Circle punched from the same DSP covers the ends on the circle.
  • For some bling, a Facet Jewel was tied with White Bakers Twine and added to the center of the bow, then added to the top of the Tiny Box with Stampin’ Dimensionals!

Such a sweet little wrapped package for someone you love!

Make sure to continue on around the rest of the Tour de Freaks!  Some great ideas!  Next up is Patty Bennett with more wonderful Love ideas!

March Tour de Freaks – It’s SPRING!

freakwelcome2013

Our theme this month on the Tour de Freaks, brought to you by the Control Freak stampers, is SPRING!  It's finally officially spring…after such a LONG, COLD, SNOWY winter, I'm more than ready!  I've seen several fat robins hopping around the yard!  You probably just came from Wendy Weixler's blog…weren't her projects fun?  If you've arrived prior to March 20th, please know that not all links may be working yet.

I did two projects…one a little candy favor box and the other a matching card using the fabulous Sweet Sorbet Designer Paper and Accessory Pack that are Sale-A-Bration selections…available only until the end of the month!

 March 2014 Eggstra Spectacular

Here's a closeup of the box:  The Easter Bunny Egg is filled with foil wrapped chocolate eggs.  I wrapped the box with Sweet Sorbet Designer Paper, wrapped it with the Summer Starfruit Twine (hope there are more solid colors coming soon!)  The Eggstra Spectacular bunny is stamped with Black Stazon on Whisper White and watercolored, then placed on a 2 1/4" Circle Framelit of Pool Party cardstock with a Pearl for his bunny bottom!

And open.  I removed the clear acetate over the circle on the box so the top of the bunny stands up outside the box.  Aren't those Easter Bunny eggs so CUTE!!!!  I love them!  I ordered WAY too many of them by mistake, so I need to use them up!  lol!

And here is the matching card using the same Sweet Sorbet DSP and twine and the cute little bunny!  I just LOVE all those patterns!

Hope you like my Spring inspired projects and these help you get ready for Easter!  Next up on the blog tour is Heidi Baks...check out HER fun projects!   Then make sure to take the tour around to all the stops until you come back here!

Stylin’ Snowfolks Favor

I hope you have enjoyed my Stylin' Snowfolk card set this week.  I have ONE MORE Stylin' Snowfolk item for you…a little 3D Favor!  On Saturdays, Card "Create"tions designers will be sharing with EVERYONE a favor to go along with the stamp sets they have featured in the Edition that week.  It's not really part of the subscription, but can be used as an add-on to a class you do using that set!  Since I featured my preview set, Stylin' Snowfolk, here is my favor for this week.

So…what do you think?  Can you tell what I made it out of?  I used the Scallop Envelope Die!  Yep!  The sides are the die and I added a couple extra pieces of cardstock.  Here are some directions:

  1. Cut two Scallop Envelopes from Pool Party cardstock
  2. Cut two additional pieces of Pool Party cardstock 3 1/4 x 8 1/4".  Score both pieces with long side along top of Simply Scored Tool at 2 3/8".
  3. Adhere the envelope tabs together with Sticky Strip side by side alternately with long pieces to form the sides of the box (line up the score lines across the bottom).
  4. Before adhering the last tab, stamp the small snowflake in Stylin' Snowfolks randomly over the sides with Pool Party ink.
  5. Punch the holes at the top of long pieces with Extra Large Oval Punch.
  6. Adhere final tab to form box and fold flaps up on bottom to form box base.
  7. Decorate the sides with Designer Paper…add the stamped Stylin' Snowfolk snowman and Tags Til Christmas greeting to the front with the Scallop Square Punch.
  8. Add a Silver Glimmer snowflake from the Snow Flurry Die to the top of the box front.
  9. Tie a pretty bow to hold the box top closed with the Cherry Cobbler Scallop Tulle Ribbon.

Hope you liked the series of Stylin' Snowfolk I did for the Preview!  We'd love to have you join us for Card "Create"tions.  Here are the details again!

  • These cards are EXCLUSIVE to our subscription and won't be shown anywhere else.
  • 3 week mini-edition that is only cards, October 28 – November 17
  • Each designer will choose a holiday or winter set each week and make 3 different cards using that one set.
  • Total of 45 unique card ideas from 15 different sets.
  • Each card set includes a printable supply list with card measurements and photos.
  • Perfect for your classes and stamp camps or to make for your own holiday cards!

AND…as a bonus on Saturdays, each designer will be sharing a little 3D favor that matches the holiday or winter set they chose that week.  We will be sharing this favor on our personal blogs, too, but you can easily tie it into your class offering!
