Bloggers Challenge 105 – Alter it!
Today’s Bloggers Challenge was to alter something. Well, heaven knows, I have PLENTY of stuff in my Studio that I’ve saved to "alter" someday. A couple of things were these Stax potato chip containers. The Brilliant Blue and Yo Yo Yellow colors were hard to work around, but I think the Good Morning Sunshine Designer paper goes pretty well! Not sure what I’ll use this for…any suggestions?
I started by wrapping the container with Good Morning Sunshine Designer Paper and securing it with Sticky Strip. Then I used Sticky Strip along the back of the 5/8 Old Olive Grosgrain Ribbon and secure it on top of the DSP along the top and bottom seams of the DSP.
For the lid, I cut three sets of the Daisies #2 die in Brilliant Blue, Summer Sun and Old Olive cardstock and alternated the colors and sizes to make the flower. I finished the center with a Kiwi Kiss Corduroy button (since they are being retired!) I secured it to the lid with dimensionals.
As a design for the front, I decided to use a little of the On Board I’ve been hoarding. We received an entire package of So Tweet OnBoard at Convention or Leadership and I hadn’t even cut into it. So, I used the large bird, covered the On Board with Craft Summer Sun and Craft Pumpkin Pie. I used Crystal Effects to hold on the wing, beak and tail feathers…then went ahead and painted on a thin coat of Crystal Effects over the entire body to give it a little bit of shine. I was going to put some kind of words or something…but really couldn’t think of anything I wanted it to say, so…I’ll just keep it until I use it and then come up with something! lol!
Remember a few weeks ago, I mentioned I had some exciting news? Well, I’ve been selected by Korin Sutherland to be on the Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps Design Team! I’m so honored to be able to share my creativity with this team! You’ll see we have a SNSS Blog Hop scheduled over on the left sidebar…my post will be on July 2! Hope you stop by and see some of these talented gals’ work next week!
Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Bloggers Challenge – Alter it!
Today’s Bloggers Challenge was to alter something. I guess you could say this is a double alter! I found these frames at Target for $1 and bought a ton of them. I originally had used the frames for a class and stamped the big flower from Fabulous Flowers in it. So, I took out that one and replaced it with the new Bigz Die Daisies #2 one! Once again I used my Big Shot and cut out two of the Daisies #2 dies. This die has three sizes of the Daisy on it. I sponged a little So Saffron ink on the centers and petals of each flower and then adhered both the layers together in the different sizes. I used my fingernail to curl up the edges of the petals slightly. I used a Kiwi Kiss Corduroy button in the center (my favorite use of these buttons!) and then used two Pop Dots on the back to give the Daisy some dimension off the background.
The background is the Washington Apple Designer Paper and it matches my Studio perfectly! I layered it on Kiwi Kiss cardstock and then Chocolate Chip to fit the frame. I stamped the Just for You from the stamp set Oval All with Kiwi Kiss and punched it with my Scallop Oval punch. I layered that on the Wide Oval punch. I added a couple Kiwi Kiss Sizzlit Die Little Leaves under the flower petals!
Wouldn’t this make a nice Mother’s Day gift?

Daisies 2 Die revisited
Well…not really revisited…actually this was the first card I made when I purchased the Daisies die. I had been holding it wanting to put some type of greeting on it, but I think I’ll just wait until I actually need something, then add a greeting. But, I’m scraping the bottom of the pictures of things I have ready to blog, so I need to get some cards photographed this week. Guess I need to get stamping, too! I’ve been creating, but they are things for publication and contests so I can’t show them here!
This card is a combination of textures! I first started with a bright background base card of Pixie Pink. Then I used the Texturz Kit #4 on the background Taken with Teal (It is really showing off color here), adding some ink direct to paper to highlight the diamonds on the texture, and I rolled the upper right corner down slightly. The Daisies are diecut from So Saffron cardstock and I rubbed some Pixie Pink on the petals to make them two-toned! I layered three of the largest flowers, then one each of the medium and small diecuts. I curled the petals back, so they look nice and fluffy. In the center I placed a new JUMBO Very Vanilla brad. The leaves are punched with the Small Oval in Old Olive and sponged with Chocolate Chip on the edges. I added two panels…one in Old Olive and one in Pixie Pink on the front of the Taken with Teal layer for some background color to tie everything together. And, finally, a trio of 1/4 circles on the right side. I like it!
Wow…it is SNOWING here! Hope our flowering trees and bushes aren’t hurt by the cold weather…they are just starting to bud out! Where did SPRING go?

Daisies 2 die
Yep, here I am again using my Daisies #2 die! This time I used only the small and medium sized flowers. I made this special birthday card for one of my downline, Tami! Hope you got it in time for your birthday! I also used the same format for a challenge card I sent off to Tiffany!
The uses the NEW designer paper from the Occasions Mini called Walk in the Park. (Ordering starts TODAY!) I paired it with Baja Breeze and Kiwi Kiss. I also used a Texturz Plate on the Baja Breeze background…the square pattern, but it is a little hard to see in this picture. Happy Birthday is from the set, On Your Birthday and stamped in Basic Gray on the Kiwi Kiss. I also used some White Taffeta ribbon.
My favorite part is the daisy, however. I ran two pieces of Whisper White thru the Big Shot with my Daisies #2 die on just the two smaller flowers. I lightly adhered them together, then added a Kiwi Kiss Corduroy Button to the center (don’t you LOVE them?) I think they add so much texture to the center of flowers. I slightly curled the edges of the flower petals with my fingernail so they stand out from the card!
Enjoy! (And, yes, I am feeling better this morning!)
