Avant Garden

I recently participated in a swap and used the beautiful Sale-A-Bration stamp set, Avant Garden.  Since I’m tired of winter already, I cheered myself up by using some bright spring colors, Peekaboo Peach and Pear Pizzazz!

Here are the details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Thick Whisper White cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
  • In two corners of the 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Peekaboo Peach, the speckle stamp was stamped several times with Peekaboo Peach Ink.
  • A 3 x 4 piece of Succulent Garden Designer Paper was added on top with a 1/4 x 4 strip of Basic Black cardstock across the front.
  • The largest Stitched Shapes circle was cut from Whisper White, then stamped the Avant Garden flower head with Peekaboo Peach Ink, the center with Memento Black Ink, the stem and leaves with Pear Pizzazz Ink.
  • The greeting from Avant Garden was stamped with Memento Black Ink.
  • Some Linen Thread was tied in a bow and added to the stem with Mini Glue Dots.

I think it turned out SO pretty!  Want one for yourself?  This stamp set is available for FREE with a $50 order during Stampin’ Up!’s Sale-A-Bration sale!  Always a favorite time of year for me!  Click on the photos below to order from my online store!

CCMC417 Touches of Texture

It’s time for a sketch challenge over on Create with Connie and Mary!  Hmm, when I first saw the sketch that Mary designed…I kind of scratched my head!  That’s a lot of little strips for a background and I thought DSP might be too busy, so I looked for a stamp that was that shape.  Found one in the Touches of Texture stamp set I received on the Mediterranean Cruise Incentive Trip that I hadn’t used that I thought would be perfect!

CCMC417

What do you think?

CCMC417 Touches of Texture
Here are the details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Pool Party, folded in half.
  • On the 4 x 5-1/2 layer of Whisper White, the lacy line background image was stamped three times with Pool Party Ink.  I love that it gives off just a touch of color!
  • The stem was stamped with Old Olive Ink and hello and the bee with Memento Black Ink.
  • The flower outline was stamped with Memento Black Ink, then the petals were stamped once with Crushed Curry and once with Watermelon Wonder, the center was filled in with Pumpkin Pie Marker.  It was hand cut and placed on the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The bee was colored with the Crushed Curry Marker, then Clear Wink of Stella added to the wings and the tips of the flowers.
  • Finally, a double strand of Pool Party Bakers Twine was tied in a bow and added to the front with Mini Glue Dots.

SUOC142 Bunch of Blossoms

The challenge this time on SUO Challenges is a “Delight in Nature” theme!  Of course, I immediately think of flowers and my Bunch of Flowers stamp set was already sitting on my desk…so great time to use it, right?  And, I have a slight obsession with the Night of Navy, Whisper White and Daffodil Delight combination lately…so why stop?  lol!

SUOC152 Bunch of Blossoms

Here are the details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Daffodil Delight, folded in half.
  • On the 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Whisper White, adhere a 2 x 5 piece of Floral Boutique Designer Paper, cut with a flag end at the bottom.
  • From the Bunch of Blossoms stamp set, stamp the large solid flower image six times with Daffodil Delight on Whisper White, then the two-step inside image with Crushed Curry.  Repeat with the smaller flower five times.  Punch all the pieces with the Blossom Builder Punch.  Adhere together.  TIP:  I use a circle to help me adhere the individual blossoms.
  • Stamp the center with Pumpkin Pie on Whisper White and punch out.  Add a Perfect White Accent to the center, then adhere to the flower and to the card.
  • Stamp the inside leaves with Pear Pizzazz Ink on Garden Green cardstock, then the filler leaves with Garden Green and the outline with Garden Green Ink.  Cut out by hand and tuck under the flower.
  • Stamp the greeting from Bunch of Blossoms with Night of Navy Ink.

OK…make sure to check out what the rest of the Design Team did over on SUO Challenges, then grab your stamps and play along!

Garden in Bloom Collar Fold Card

This was a card I made a while ago wanting to use up some of the pretty English Garden Designer Paper.  I showed this Collar Fold technique at my Punch & Technique class last month!

Garden In Bloom 2
Here are the details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2, folded in half with the fold on the left.
  • Cut the DSP to 4 x 5-1/2 (you’ll get more out of one 12×12 sheet), watching the direction of the pattern on both sides.
  • On the long side, measure and mark at 2-3/4, then cut in approx. 1-1/2 inches, folding back the sides of each side to match up to the corner.  Add a Stampin’ Dimensional under the collar point.
  • Stamp the greeting from Suite Sayings with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink in the opening the “collar fold” makes.
  • Punch a 2″ Circle from Basic Black cardstock and add to the front.
  • Stamp the inside flower from Garden in Bloom with Hello Honey Ink on scrap Whisper White, then stamp the outside with Delightful Dijon Ink.  Stamp the center of the flower with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.  Hand cut out and place on the circle with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Stamp two inside leaves with Old Olive Ink and the outside with Mossy Meadow Ink.  Hand cut out and adhere under the flower.
  • Add a Rhinestone Jewel to the center of the flower for a little bling!

CCMC Saturday Blog Hop – Tangelo Twist

SP15SatHopWelcome

Hello everyone!  It’s time for another Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop!  Did you hear our news?  The May Create with Connie and Mary Mini Session will be delayed opening until May 18th so that we can offer projects featuring the NEW catalog preorder items!  So exciting!  I was able to get my hands on some of the Premiere items featured at On Stage Convention and am having fun playing with those, too!  Today is the last week that we are featuring the retiring In Colors…Tangelo Twist is this week!  I love this bright orange and will really miss it, especially around Halloween time!

My card this week turned out a little more Mossy Meadow that I had anticipated.  I’m at a stamping retreat this weekend and realized that I had made the wrong color card for this week’s blog hop.  But, I have limited Designer Paper supplies here and no DSP with Tangelo Twist.  So, I let the flower in Best Thoughts, one of the retiring hostess sets, be the pop of Tangelo Twist color I needed.

Best Yet

Here are the details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Tangelo Twist folded in half.
  • On the 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Whisper White, I added a 1-1/4 x 4 strip of English Garden Designer Paper along the bottom and 3/4 x 4 strip of the same across the top.
  • The 1/8″ piece of Gold Metallic Ribbon is wrapped around to the back to adhere and hide the seam.
  • The flower from Best Thoughts was stamped on scrap Whisper White with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and then the flower colored with Tangelo Twist and Mossy Meadow Stampin’ Write Markers.  It was hand-cut and added to the front of the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • I used the Clear Wink of Stella to highlight the entire flower.  Wish you could see the pretty sparkle it gave the flower.
  • Finally, a little bit of 1/8″ Gold Metallic Ribbon was tied around the stem and Best Thoughts greeting stamped with Tuxedo Black Ink.

OK…next up is Mary Brown!  Check out what she came up with for the Tangelo Twist color challenge this week!  Or head backwards to Melissa Davies!

Sunburst Flower Roommate Gift

Oh…had a wonderful time at On Stage Live in Salt Lake City…loved catching up with friends and meeting new ones.  AND…being one of the first to see the NEW CATALOG!  Can you say WOW!  Yes, my pocketbook is screaming already in anticipation!  All is well, except that my flight coming home was delayed almost 3 hours in Phoenix and I didn’t get home until 2:00 AM Monday morning!    lol!

I wanted to show the On Stage Roommate Gift I made using the Sunburst Flower again, this time with Night of Navy Polka Dot pattern DSP.  It is adhered to a thick notepad of paper, so I went with the red/white/navy color scheme.

Sunburst Flower Roommate Gift

  • The notepad was already covered with the navy/red print.
  • I cut four Sunbursts from the navy Regals Patterned DSP Stack, then cut with varying sizes of Circle Framelits.
  • Just a Note from Watercolor Wishes is stamped with Real Red on Whisper White, then punched with the 1-3/8 Circle Punch and layered on a 1-3/4 circle of Red Glimmer Paper, then added to the center of the flower.
  • A Real Red button is tied with White Baker’s Twine and tied in a bow, then adhered to the center with Mini Glue Dots.
  • A Sunburst was cut from Mossy Meadow cardstock and cut for the flower leaves.
  • Finally, the letter A was cut with the Serif Essentials Dies (retired) from Whisper White cardstock, adhered to the front and blinged up with Rhinestones.
  • There was also a matching pen for the notepad.

Sunburst Flower Roommate Gift closeup

I love making these type of gifts for friends and roommates!  But I especially LOVE this flower!

Sunburst Thinlet Flower

SP16BadgeTODAY’S THE DAY!  The Create with Connie and Mary APRIL Mini Session opens today!  It’s not too late to join!  For only $8.95 US, you get 5 GREAT projects…perfect for your upcoming classes!  See below for a few details on how to sign up!

I made this flower a couple weeks ago to show my class a different use for the Sunburst Thinlet Die and stamp set!  Isn’t it pretty?  And so easy to make!  I added mine to a card…but I have a couple other projects using these flowers, too!  I’ll show you!  Stay tuned!

Sunburst Flower

Here are the details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Cherry Cobbler folded in half.
  • On the 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Whisper White, the 1-1/2 x 4 Always Artichoke Rich Regals striped pattern DSP was added.
  • Wrap some Cherry Cobbler Thick Bakers Twine around the DSP end and tie with a bow, then add to the front of the card.
  • 4 pieces of Cherry Cobbler polka dot Rich Regals pattern DSP were cut with the Sunburst Thinlet, then cut again with the Circles Framelits (two 3rd, one 4th and one 5th from largest size), then layered on top of each other with Stampin’ Dimensionals, fluffed and curling the petals.
  • TIP:  Measure the largest circle you will be using and cut your four pieces of DSP a little larger…you don’t need to completely cut out the Sunburst since you’ll be cutting it again with the Circle.
  • Wow from Sunburst Sayings was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink on Hello Honey and cut with the 4th from smallest Circle Framelit and added to the center.
  • The flower was added on front with Stampin’ Dimensionals and a Rhinestone Jewel added above the WOW greeting.
  • A partial Sunburst was cut from Always Artichoke cardstock and cut into “leaves” tucked under the flower.
  • You’re The Best from Sunburst Sayings was stamped in the lower right corner with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.

That’s it!  Pretty easy and my customers loved it!  Sold LOTS of Sunburst Thinlets that day!  lol!  AND…it is on sale right now over in the Weekly Specials…click on my Online Ordering button here or at the top of my blog to get one for yourself!
