Saturday Blog Hop – Cards with Frames

It’s Saturday and time for the Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop! Our design team theme is “Cards with Frames”…anything that frames a focal image!

I pulled out my Basket Bunch stamp set…it’s not just for Easter, you know!  This card also has a fun fold (as shown by Chris Slogar!)

Here are the details on this card:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 7-3/4 Flirty Flamingo cardstock, scored at 1-3/4 and 6″.
  • Two 1-1/2 x 5-1/4 pieces of Whisper White cardstock were used as mats on the base card, then two 1-1/4 x 5 pieces of In Color Patterns DSP on top.
  • The Whisper White mats measure 5 ¼” x 1 1/2” and the designer paper pieces  measure 5? x 1 1/4?.
  • The greeting from Basket Bunch is stamped inside on the 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Whisper White with Chocolate Chip Ink.
  • The frame of Daffodil Delight was cut with two of the Layering Squares (one solid and one scallop), then added over another solid square on the back.  It was popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals to stand out a little.
  • The basket was stamped with Chocolate Chip Ink on Crumb Cake cardstock, the flowers were stamped with Chocolate Chip Ink on Daffodil Delight and Flirty Flamingo cardstock, cut with the Basket Builder Framelits and added to the basket with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The centers were punched with the 1/8″ Circle Punch from Daffodil Delight and Flirty Flamingo cardstock.
  • A few leaves were stamped with Chocolate Chip Ink on Garden Green cardstock, cut out with the Framelit and tucked in the flowers.

The flaps flip up and down to show the inside:

Make sure to check out the rest of the Design Team creations this week! I can’t wait to see what they chose to do with this blog hop challenge!  Next up is Mary Brown or head backwards to Melissa Davies!

SUO173 – Blooms and Wishes

The theme this time on SUO Challenges is “Focus on Feminine”. My thoughts immediately went to florals…my go-to sets for the ladies!

I love the Blooms & Wishes stamp set.  It wasn’t one that I immediately had to have, but started seeing some beautiful cards done with it and it grew on me!  This is a CAS one layer and base card that looks so much more than it is!  Don’t you LOVE those type of cards?

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Daffodil Delight cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
  • On top is a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Whisper White that is washed with Soft Sky Ink and an AquaPainter to give a soft blue color in the background.
  • After dry, the large daisy flower was stamped with Daffodil Delight Ink with a Memento Black center and colored with Pumpkin Pie marker in the center.  The smaller flowers were stamped with Pumpkin Pie and Melon Mambo Inks.  Then the leaves with Old Olive Ink.
  • For You from the Blooms & Wishes set was stamped with Memento Black Ink.
  • Finally, a trio of Rhinestones in the background!

How is that for simple?  OK…make sure to check out what the rest of the Design Team for SUO Challenges did this week with this theme! I’m sure they will have some great ideas!

CCMC454 – Flourishing Phrases

It’s a color challenge this week on Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenges!   Isn’t it pretty?

Here’s what I did…a little non-traditional for flowers, but it works!

Here are the details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Thick Whisper White cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
  • On the 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Whisper White cardstock, a 2-1/2 x 4 piece of Tempting Turquoise Brights Collection Pattern paper was hand-cut on a curve and added to the bottom.
  • The stem from Flourish Thinlits was cut from Island Indigo cardstock and adhered to the front.
  • The flower from Flourishing Phrases was stamped twice with Flirty Flamingo Ink and hand cut, then layered on top of each other.
  • A 1/2″ Circle was punched from scrap Tempting Turquoise polka dot paper and added to the center of the flower with a Perfect White Accent in the center.  The flower is popped up on the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Just a Note from the same stamp set was stamped with Island Indigo Ink.

That’s it!  Nice and clean design!  Make sure to check out what the rest of the Challenge Team did this week over on Create with Connie and Mary!

CCMC453 – Oh So Succulent

This week we have a fun sketch over on Create with Connie and Mary.  I just had to use the Succulent Framelits again to build a flower!

Here’s my card.  I love the white daisy look!

Here are the details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Thick Whisper White, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
  • A 4×4 piece of Daffodil Delight Patterns Paper Pack was added to the front.
  • A 1/4 x 5 strip of Basic Black was added across the front.
  • The greeting from Confetti Celebrations was stamped with Memento Black Ink on top of the Designer Paper.
  • Two of the medium large and one medium succulent flowers were cut from Whisper White cardstock.  Two small flowers were cut from Daffodil Delight cardstock for the center.  All were adhered together, then added to the front of the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • A Perfect White Accent was colored with a Black Sharpie Marker and added to the center.
  • The Medium Large succulent flower was also cut from Pear Pizzazz cardstock, and two petals cut off (twice) for the leaves.  They were tucked under the flowers and adhered.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it…if I do say so myself!  Of course, I’m always lovin’ my flowers!  lol!  Check out what the rest of the Challenge Team did with this color combination over on Create with Connie and Mary today!

Here are the details.  I love the soft lavender colors!

  • The flowers were stamped with Memento Black Ink on Whisper White, then watercolored with Sweet Sugarplum Marker and the AquaPainter.  While wet, the Sweet Sugarplum Marker was applied full strength and then Rich Razzeberry Marker for the centers to darken it even more.  Old Olive Marker was used for the stems.  It was hand-cut and then arranged on the front of the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Saturday Blog Hop – Spring Flowers

It’s Saturday and time for the Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop! Our design team theme is “Spring Flowers” this week!  It is SO nice to see the grass greening up, the daffodils and early flowers in bloom, and the trees starting to bud out.  I love this time of year…although my allergies do NOT.  Must be something with the flowering trees to cause my itchy eyes and nose!  lol!

I love the Succulent Framelits all on their own and have used them for SEVERAL of my Create projects.  Only the greeting is stamped!  Here are the details on this card:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Peekaboo Peach cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
  • A 2 x 4 piece of Sahara Sand Neutrals Designer Paper was adhered across the bottom of a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Whisper White.
  • A length of the Peekaboo Peach Ruched Ribbon was placed across the front and adhered in the back to hide the seam.  I am going to MISS that ribbon when it retires!
  • Cut two of the medium larger flower shapes of Succulents with So Saffron cardstock, then the two smallest sizes from Peekaboo Peach cardstock for the center.  Adhere all together, then add to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Color a Perfect White Accent with Black Sharpie Marker and add to center.
  • Cut another of the medium larger flower shape of Succulent from Pear Pizzazz cardstock, then cut of two petals (twice) for the leaves.  Tuck and adhere under the flowers.
  • Stamp the Happy Mother’s Day greeting from Oh So Succulent with Memento Black Ink.

I’m SO happy with how this turned out and can’t wait to give it to my mom for Mother’s Day this year!

Blooms & Wishes

As the retirement list comes out later this month, I’m thinking of using my regular catalog sets more and more.  Need to give them some love since I’ve focused on the Occasions catalog for the past few months.  Here’s one I made a few months ago, but haven’t shared.  It was inspired by several cards I saw on Pinterest, and I love the Melon Mambo/black/white color with the pop of Tempting Turquoise I used here!

Here are the details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Melon Mambo cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
  • Along the left side of the 4 x 5-1/4 Whisper White cardstock layer, a 1-3/4 x 5-1/4 strip of Pop of Pink Designer Paper was added to a 1/2 x 5-1/4 strip of Melon Mambo cardstock, then added to the Whisper White.
  • The heart was cut from Melon Mambo and the word love from Basic Black with the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits and added to the front.
  • Two flowers from Blooms & Wishes were stamped with Tempting Turquoise Ink on Whisper White and two leaves with Pear Pizzazz Ink.  They were hand-cut and added to the heart with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  The centers were made with the end of a pencil and Basic Black Ink.

So simple yet striking, I think!  Did you know we will be kicking off our new April Mini Session soon?  Here are the details!

SUOC171 Basket Bunch

The theme this time on SUO Challenges is “A Favorite April Theme”.  Wow…didn’t quite know where to go with this one, but figured since the daffodils are in full bloom around my neighborhood, I couldn’t go wrong with a bunch of them in a basket!  Have I mentioned how much I LOVE the Basket Bunch Bundle?  I can’t believe I almost didn’t buy it!

Here are the details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Peekaboo Peach cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
  • On top is a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Whisper White.
  • Across the Whisper White is a 3/4 x 4 strip of Affectionately Yours Designer Paper.  Under that is a strip of Playful Palette Washi Tape.
  • The greeting was stamped with Chocolate Chip Ink.
  • The basket details were cut from Chocolate Chip cardstock and the outline of the basket from Crumb Cake cardstock, then adhered together and placed on the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The one bow, three daffodil flowers, three stems and five leaves were stamped with Memento Black Ink, then colored with Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Wild Wasabi Stampin’ Write Markers and cut with the Basket Builder Framelits. They were adhered to the inside of the basket.
  • Finally, a trio of the In Color Enamel Shapes were added to the front.

SUOC169 Special Reason

It’s time for another SUO Challenge!  This time the theme is “Celebrating Green”.  So, with St. Patrick’s Day coming up, I’m sure many of the designers went with that theme.  I decided to be a little different and do a green floral card.  The Mint Macaron floral print in Succulent Garden Designer Paper was a great jumping off point!

Instead of combining it with the Oh So Succulent bundle, I decided to use the Special Reason Bundle instead!  Here are the details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Thick Whisper White, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
  • On top is a 4 x 5-1/4 piece of Succulent Garden Designer Paper.
  • A 1-1/4 x 4-3/4 piece of Whisper White was stamped with the greeting from Suite Sentiments in Memento Black, then layered on a 1-1/2 x 5 piece of Basic Black, then added to the front.
  • Two pieces of Mint Macaron Sheer Ribbon were added along the left side and secured in the back.
  • The Special Reason flower was cut from the large circle Stitched Shapes Framelit from Mint Macaron cardstock, then added over a large circle cut from Whisper White.  The center was colored with the Basic Black Marker.  It was added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The smaller flower outline and shapes were cut from Whisper White, layered together, then added to the circle.  The center was colored with the Basic Black Marker.
  • The leaves were stamped twice with Mint Macaron Ink, then cut with the leaf Framelit, then tucked and adhered under the small flower.

OK…check out what the rest of the SUO Challenge Design Team did with the Celebrate Green theme on SUO Challenges!  Then grab your stamps and play along!

Special Reason

If you follow my blog, I mentioned last week that several of the Challenge Team used the Special Reason Bundle on their cards.  I decided to make a second card from something different for the actual challenge, but here’s my the original Special Reason card I was going to post.  I love the soft and spring-like colors!

Here are the details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Flirty Flamingo, scored at 4-1/4 and folded in half.
  • On the 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Whisper White, a 3/4 x 5-1/4 strip of In Color Patterns DSP was added across the front.
  • The larger flower from Special Reason stamp set was stamped with Flirty Flamingo on Whisper White and the smaller flower twice with Blushing Bride, the leaves with Pear Pizzazz.  All were cut with the Stylish Stems Framelits.
  • The were added to the front of the card, and the greeting was stamped with Memento Black Ink.

If you want to see the other cards made with this stamp set, you can visit our Create with Connie and Mary website to see the challenge for this week!  Then play along!  And…if you haven’t signed up for our February Mini Session, now is a great time…we’ll be opening soon!  Here’s a sneak peek of the projects we are doing:
