Blogger’s Challenge 76 – Color Inspiration

I’m feeling a little low on creative inspiration today, so I’m going for a little "cheat" by using a gift card holder that my Stamping Club made last week.  My Last Minute Gifts Class was last night…fun…but it took them much longer than I anticipated (isn’t it always that way?)  But, a great group of gals and I certainly had fun, hope they did, too!  I know they loved the projects and I’ll be sharing them on here.

So, with a color combination of Bashful Blue, Close to Cocoa, Tangerine Tango, Kiwi Kiss and Whisper White as today’s challenge, how could I not pull out the Frosty Day Designer Paper from the Holiday Mini Catalog.  I think this paper is FUN and this is my favorite pattern in the package!  Very non-traditional holiday colors!  And…Mr. Twigster fits right in with this paper as a little non-traditional snowman, too!

The base of this gift card is a Kraft Medium Size envelope.  For the outside, I stamped him in Basic Brown on Whisper White and colored his nose and scarf with Tangerine Tango and a little Bashful Blue around his body and the ground.  Then I added some liquid glue and Dazzling diamonds glitter all over his body and the ground.  Layered it on Chocolate Chip (oops!) and I used the Snow Blossom punch in Tangerine Tango with a Bashful Blue 1/2 circle and mini brad inside and popped it with dimensionals.

Inside on the left side I used the verse from Wishing You Cheer stamp set…it is one of my favorites…and then the little tree is stamped in Kiwi Kiss and colored the ornaments with Tangerine Tango.  The right side is the pocket for the gift card.  To make the inside I first folded the envelope in half, then cut away the part of the flap and top portion of the right side, so I just had a pocket left.  I sealed the left side down.  Then I decorated the right side with more of the Frosty Day designer paper…Snowflake Pattern on the bottom and a trim of the reverse TT side to cover the seam.

Before I placed Mr. Twigster on the front with dimensionals, I added some Tangerine Tango striped ribbon so I could tie the envelope closed.

I’m excited to see what the rest of the Blogger’s have done this week with the color challenge.

Have a WONDERFUL weekend!

Blogger’s Challenge – Warhol

Years ago our yahoo group, Creative Stamping Friends, did Technique University challenges.  Pat from Technique Junkies shared the Warhol technique with us then and I thought it was SO hard.  (It is now in a past issue of Technique Junkies Newsletter.)  I remember how challenged I was when I did it years ago.  This time was easier…don’t know if my stamping "eye" has expanded or I’ve seen more samples done since Lisa Somerville does this technique to perfection, but I could see the Warhol immediately when I looked at the new set, Winter Post.  Here is a SNEAK PEAK of a couple stamps from this set along with the SNEAK PEAK of new Designer Paper, Frosty Day.  Very retro colors for holiday paper, don’t you think?  I love it!

For the details, I stamped the Snowflake with Chocolate Chip Craft ink on each of the colors, then embossed with clear embossing powder.  Very shiny!  I mounted the colors of Really Rust, Kiwi Kiss, Bashful Blue and Chocolate Chip on Very Vanilla cardstock.  Then I stamped and embossed the Santa Postmark and punched with the 1" circle punch.  I sliced a small piece of the new Frosty Day designer paper (you KNOW the first cut is the hardest!) and layered the 5/8 Chocolate Chip grosgrain over top.  I wanted something in the center of my snowflakes and was inspired when I saw my Pretties Kit with the vanilla half pearls in a perfect size!  I started with a base card of Old Olive since I wanted a little contrast between the Kiwi Kiss and Old Olive.  I love how those two colors work together, too!

Hope you enjoy the weekend.  I’ll still be busy working on my craft fair items…I’ll have lots to share after next week!
