Saturday Blog Hop – Awning Cards

It’s Saturday and time for the Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop! Our design team theme is featuring  “Awning special fold” cards this week!  I first saw one done by my fabulous friend, Lorri Heiling, with a hut and mixed drinks and have wanted to try one for myself!

Here’s what I came up with using the cute potion bottles from Spooky Cat stamp set!

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Cajun Craze Cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded to form the base card.
  • A 1-3/4 x 3-3/4 piece of Pumpkin Pie cardstock was scored at 1/4″ and placed at the bottom of a 3-3/4 x 5 layer of Very Vanilla cardstock.  It was stamped with Happy Halloween with Memento Black Ink.
  • A row of the hash mark image from Spooky Cat stamp set was stamped above it using Soft Sky Ink for the “table”.
  • The potion glasses were stamped with Memento Black Ink on top and filled with Lemon Lime Twist, Bermuda Bay and Cajun Craze liquids.
  • The awning was made by cutting a 2 x 3-3/4 piece of striped Spooky Night Designer Paper and scoring across at 3/8 and 1-5/8″.  Adhere the top scored piece to the top of the Very Vanilla layer, then bend out the center section.
  • The black awning piece was cut with the Home Sweet Home Thinlits from Basic Black cardstock (twice) and adhered along the edge, then trimmed to fit.
  • A witch hat from the Spooky Night Designer Paper was cut out and added to the bottom with a Stampin’ Dimensional.

Isn’t that fun?  OK…check out what the rest of the Design Team did with their Awning Card by taking our Saturday Blog Hop! Next up is our Create website to find out more about our September Mini Session, then onto Mary Brown or go backwards to visit Melissa Davies!

Saturday Blog Hop – Pop-Up Surprise

It’s Saturday and time for the Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop! Our design team theme is featuring “Pop-Up Surprise” for the inside of our cards this week!  We’ll see what the Design Team did…more of a challenge this week!

I went back and forth on what to do…finally decided on a Halloween theme.  Here’s the outside.

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Pumpkin Pie Cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
  • A 2 x 5-1/2 piece of Spooky Night DSP was added to the bottom, and the coordinating stripe pattern was cut 1/4 x 5-1/2 and adhered to hide the seam.
  • The cobweb and bats from Sweet Home stamp set were stamped with Memento Black Ink.
  • The hat was stamped with Memento Black Ink on Very Vanilla, the buckle colored with Daffodil Delight Marker, then cut with the Layering Circles Framelits.  It was adhered to a larger Scallop Layering Circle cut from Basic Black and popped up on the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The fun is when you open it up…the moon, cat and hat all pop out towards you!

  • A 5 x 8 piece of Basic Black cardstock was scored at 4 and folded.
  • Approx. 2″ from each end, a cut was made thru the fold and reversed folded to create the pop-out.
  • The moon was cut with the Layering Circles from Daffodil Delight, sponged around the edges with Pumpkin Pie Ink and two of the bats stamped with Memento Black Ink.  It was added to the pop-out.
  • The cat was punched from Basic Gray and the face added with Memento Black Ink and added to the moon.
  • The hat was cut from the Designer Paper an added in front of the moon.
  • At the inside bottom, a 1-1/2 x 5 piece of Spooky Night DSP was added to the bottom with a coordinating stripe DSP to hide the seam.
  • The “owl” eyes were stamped with Whisper White several times in the background randomly.  The greeting was stamped with Whisper White Craft Ink above the DSP.

This was really fun to put together…I need to make more of these!  OK…check out what the rest of the Design Team did with the Pop-up card theme on their cards by taking our Saturday Blog Hop! Next up is our Create website to find out more about our September Mini Session, then onto Mary Brown or go backwards to visit Melissa Davies!

Jar of Haunts again

Well, this card is a bonus.  I originally had in my head that last Saturday’s Blog Hop was the theme of Spooky Halloween instead of Halloween Cuties.  I had to re-do my card at the last minute!  But…bonus is that I can show you the spooky one now!  lol!

CCMC Saturday Blog Hop – Halloween Boo

CreateFA15HopWelcome

Our theme this week on the Saturday Create with Connie and Mary Blog Hop is “HALLOWEEN BOO”!  We’re using “Spooky or Scary” Halloween ideas on our cards this week!  With the Holiday Catalog, we have a lot of choice!  Of course…I chose the eyes from Jar of Haunts.  Can’t get much spookier than that!  It was this image that sold me on this stamp set, but this was the first time I had used it!

jar-of-haunts

Here are the details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Basic Black cardstock folded in half.
  • On top is a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Old Olive cardstock.
  • On the 3-1/2 x 4-3/4 Whisper White cardstock layer, the brick image from Ghoulish Grunge was stamped twice with Smoky Slate Ink in the center.
  • A 3/4 x 4 strip of Halloween Night DSP was placed across the front.
  • The Smoky Slate/Black Baker’s Twine was wrapped around and tied with a bow.
  • Happy Halloween from Jar of Haunts was stamped with Real Red Ink in the upper right corner.
  • The jar was stamped with Memento Black Ink, as well as the eyeballs and the slime and colored with Old Olive, Real Red, Marina Mist Stampin’ Write Markers.  It was cut with the Everyday Jar Framelits and added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals!

CCMC Saturday Blog Hop – Not your normal fall card

CreateFA15HopWelcome

Our theme this week on the Saturday Create with Connie and Mary Blog Hop is “NOT YOUR NORMAL FALL CARD”, meaning a non-traditional shaped card!  I’ve been wanting to make a house card…but it turned out a lot smaller than I anticipated!  It is still cute…although I could seeing using it as more of a tag on a gift bag or something!  lol!

home-sweet-home-bundle

Here are the details:

  • Two of the fronts of the house were cut with the Home Sweet Home Framelit from Rich Razzleberry cardstock.
  • The door was cut from Basic Black, the window cut out and Daffodil Delight placed behind it.
  • The bat and ghost were stamped with Memento Black Ink and cut out with the Framelits.
  • Several of the “roof” tiles were cut from Basic Black and added to the front, then the Spider web was stamped with White Craft Ink on the front a couple times.
  • The doorknob is one of the Gold Metallic Enamel Shapes.

Here’s the inside…another house was cut from Daffodil Delight and trimmed slightly smaller to layer inside.  More spider webs and the Trick or Treat greeting was added with Memento Black Ink.

home-sweet-home-inside

I included a picture of the back so you can see that I scored down a little from the top point and adhered only in that portion to form the card.

CCMC375 Cheer All Year

Once again it is Thursday AND the first day of October!  Why is time going by SOOOO fast these days!  I’m struggling to keep up!  Anyway, a fun sketch today for the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge, hope you play along and show us YOUR interpretation!

CCMC375 copy

At first glance, I thought of snowflakes…then saw that TWO of the Challenge Team Members already used that idea.  Then I thought falling leaves…but happened to glance at a set sitting on my desk…Cheer All Year!  Those bats would be adorable flying thru the air, don’t you think?  So here is what I came up with!

CCMC375 Cheer All Year

Following are the details on how to recreate this card!

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Very Vanilla cardstock, folded in half.
  • The Basic Black cardstock layer is cut 4 x 5-1/4.
  • Happy Hauntings Designer Paper was cut 3-7/8 x 5-1/8, the Very Vanilla Bakers Twine was wrapped around several times and secured in the back.
  • The bat from Cheer All Year was stamped three times with Tuxedo Black Ink on Very Vanilla, then cut out and added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Happy Haunting from the same set was stamped with Tuxedo Black Ink directly on the Designer Paper.
  • For some bling, rhinestone jewels were added for eyes!

Simple, but fits the sketch, don’t you think?  Check out what the rest of the Challenge Team did this week over on Create with Connie and Mary!

Haunt Ya Later

The little kids in this Haunt Ya Later stamp set are just too cute.  And, I was in the mood to do some coloring…perfect combination, right?

Haunt Ya Later

Here are the details.

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Basic Black cardstock, folded in half.
  • The Happy Haunting DSP pieces were cut 3 x 4 and 2-1/4 x 4 and placed on the base card.
  • A strip of Happy Haunting Washi Tape hides the seam.
  • The 2-1/2 Circle Moon was punched from Hello Honey, then Tangelo Twist Ink was sponged around the edges.  The greeting was stamped with Archival Black ink on the moon.
  • Before placing the moon with Stampin’ Dimensionals, a 2″ circle was punched from Basic Black cardstock and added to the front so they overlapped slightly.
  • The little girl was stamped with Archival Black Ink on Whisper White, then watercolored with Rich Razzleberry, Basic Black, Basic Gray, Smoky Slate, Hello Honey, Blushing Bride and Old Olive Markers.  She was cut out and placed on the Black 2″ Circle with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • 1/4 of a Spider Web Doily was cut and tucked under her left side.
  • 3/4 and 1″ Banners of Rich Razzleberry cardstock and Happy Hauntings DSP were tucked under the moon.
