CCMC460 Crafting Forever

Whew!!!!  We officially made it through the MOVE part, but now are trying to find things!  Not a good experience with the movers…apparently they couldn’t read…some things in the basement belong upstairs, some in the garage go downstairs, remotes/cords for TVs all jumbled up.  I had everything MARKED!!!  Took them over 14 hours…unbelievable!  But, I JUST found my camera late Wednesday night!  For a company that came highly recommended by several people, I would be wary of recommending them to anyone!

But…it’s time for the Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge!  This month’s challenges are a little different.  Since Mary and I were both busy with moves, we decided to “Case the Catalog”.  Here’s this week’s inspiration.  Could use the color combination OR the layout…whichever you preferred…and each of us did a little something different!   I used the Colors represented in the catalog photo:

Anyway…here’s my card.  I’m finally getting it uploaded at the last minute!

I had a little fun with angles on this card!

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Soft Sky cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
  • I cut a piece of Whisper White at 3 x 3, then angled the sides to a finish of 2-1/2 at the bottom (if that makes any sense).  I stamped the container of brushes from Crafting Forever with Early Espresso Ink, then carefully watercolored with Crumb Cake, Garden Green and Soft Sky as represented in the catalog photo.
  • I also stamped the scissors from Crafting Forever with Early Espresso and watercolored them also.
  • I added a little trim of Garden Green cardstock along the left edge and a 1/2 x 4-1/4 strip of Early Espresso across the front.
  • I popped up both the angled piece and the scissors off the base Soft Sky cardstock.
  • The greeting from Crafting Forever was stamped with Early Espresso.

I had a lot of fun with this challenge!  Now check out the rest of the Challenge Team to see what they did this week over on Create with Connie and Mary!  And…make sure to check out our  NEW upcoming June Mini Session!  Lots of new ideas from the NEW catalog!  Hooray!!!

Saturday Blog Hop – Hello Summer

At this time, I’m finally moving into our new home!  The appliances are supposed to be installed today.  I’m glad to see there is an end in sight.  My studio, however, won’t be ready for a couple more months!   I’ll be working out of boxes for a while until my cabinets get installed.

But, it’s Saturday and time for the Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop! Our design team theme is featuring “Hello Summer” this week. It’s my most favorite time of the year!  One thing I love about summer is the bright green leaves and relaxing by reading a book!  I combined both of these in my card this week!

Here are the details on this card:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Thick Whisper White cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
  • On a 3-3/4 x 5 piece of Whisper White, the tree trunk from Sheltering Tree is stamped with Chocolate Chip Ink, the leaves were stamped with both Tranquil Tide and Emerald Envy (very subtle difference).
  • The ground was stamped with Emerald Envy Ink, then the blades of grass with Tranquil Tide Ink.
  • The chair from Colorful Seasons stamp set was stamped with Chocolate Chip Ink in the foreground, then the seat with Berry Burst Ink on scrap Whisper White.  It was cut out and placed in the chair frame.
  • Thinking of you from Colorful Seasons stamp set was stamped with Berry Burst Ink.
  • A Sahara Sand Marker and AquaPainter added a little shadow under the tree.

Very fun…love that new set Colorful Seasons!  OK…check out what the rest of the Design Team and their Hello Summer cards!  Next up is our Create with Connie and Mary website to find out more about our new JUNE MINI SESSION, then onto Mary Brown or head backwards to Melissa Davies!

Here are the details on this card:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Lemon Lime Twist cardstock, scored at 2-1/2 and 7-1/2.
  • The top flap is embossed with the new Oh My Stars Embossing Folder.  I also rounded the corners with the old Corner Rounder (what is everyone doing now that it is retired????)
  • A 2-1/4 x 4 piece of Fresh Florals Designer Paper decorates the bottom flap.
  • A 1/4 x 4-1/4 strip of Berry Burst cardstock accents the top flap.
  • The Happy Birthday Floral label from Label Me Pretty stamp set is stamped with Memento Black Ink and then colored with Berry Burst, Lemon Lime Twist and Powder Pink Markers.  It is punched with the new Pretty Label Punch.  The bottom of the label is secured to the bottom flap with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

  • Inside the tri-fold card is a 4 x 5 piece of Whisper White cardstock.  A 1/2 x 4 strip of Fresh Florals DSP is across the bottom portion.
  • You’re The Best from Label Me Pretty is stamped with Memento Black Ink.

Saturday Blog Hop – Saying Goodbye

Well…as you are reading this, we are working on Day 2 of our Moving Sale!  HOPEFULLY lots of stuff has sold and we won’t have to move it!  Hard to believe we have accumulated so much stuff in just 11 years we lived here.  Of course, I think we moved boxes that hadn’t been opened from our previous move, too!  This time we have purged and cleared out the entire basement!  Feels good!  (Anyone need some Longaberger baskets???  lol!)

It’s Saturday and time for the Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop! Our design team theme is “Saying Goodbye”…so many of our favorite sets will be retiring.  We were to pick our favorite…well, that was VERY HARD to choose just one!

So I decided to use the Pocket Card format like I did for last week’s Blog Hop Challenge, but combined it with my favorite pattern from the Fruit Stand Designer Paper and the retiring Fresh Fruit Stamp Set.

Here are the details on this card:

  • The base pocket envelope uses the Mini Treat Bag Thinlit (SO glad this is staying) and the Fruit Stand Designer Paper. LOVE this pattern and I’ve been hoarding it.
  • A 1″ coordinating piece of DSP was placed across the front.
  • The large circle from the Stitched Shapes Framelits was cut from Whisper White and stamped with the For You greeting in Fresh Fruit stamp set in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.
  • The flowers were stamped with Peekaboo Peach Ink and outlined with Flirty Flamingo Ink and cut out.
  • The small flowers were stamped with Flirty Flamingo Ink and stamped off with the solid image inside, then cut out and layered on the large flower.
  • The Perfect White Accents were colored with a Black Sharpie Marker to make them black and added to the centers.
  • The leaves were stamped off with Old Olive and the outline full strength with Old Olive, cut out and added beneath the flowers on the bag.

  • Inside the bag, a 3-1/4 x 4 piece of Whisper White was stamped with the flower image in Peekaboo Peach and sponged with Flirty Flamingo in the center and then a leaf added with Old Olive.  The center was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.
  • The Whisper White layer was added to a 3-1/2 x 4-1/4 piece of Calypso Coral cardstock.
  • Some Peekaboo Peach ribbon was folded in half and stapled to the top of the inside layer.

Make sure to check out the rest of the Design Team and their favorite retiring stamp sets this week! I can’t wait to see what they chose to do with this blog hop challenge! Next up is our Create with Connie and Mary website to find out more about our new JUNE MINI SESSION, then onto Mary Brown or head backwards to Melissa Davies!

CCMC457 Eastern Palace

This week’s challenge at Create with Connie and Mary is a fun sketch!

I used the new Eastern Palace Bundle on my card.  I had these Fresh Fig Designer Paper flowers already cut with the Framelits, so just finished up with the rest of the layers!

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Fresh Fig cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
  • On top is a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Whisper White cardstock.
  • 3-1/4 x 3-1/4 piece of Eastern Palace Designer Paper was placed on the front and stamped with the large circle from Eastern Beauty Stamp Set in Fresh Fig Ink.
  • Two flowers were cut from the Fresh Fig Pattern DSP and added on the circle.  The 1/2″ Circles were punched from the same Lemon Lime polka dot pattern DSP.  A rhinestone was added to each circle.
  • A 1 x 5 piece of Whisper White was stamped with the Thank You in Memento Black Ink, then tucked under the flower and added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Yep!  That’s it!  OK…check out what the rest of the Challenge Team did this week over on Create with Connie and Mary!

Saturday Blog Hop – Pocket Cards

It’s Saturday and time for the Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop! Our design team theme is “Pocket Cards”…so many different kinds of pocket cards, it will be interesting to see what the Design Team comes up with!

So my pocket card uses the Oh So Succulent Bundle!

Here are the details on this card:

  • The base pocket envelope uses the Mini Treat Bag Thinlit (SO glad this is staying) and the Succulent Garden Designer Paper.  LOVE this pattern and I’ve been hoarding it.  But this will be my mom’s Mother’s Day card, so finally decided to cut into it.
  • A 1/2″ coordinating piece of DSP was placed across the front.
  • The Succulent was cut from Old Olive cardstock and the tips stamped with White Craft Ink, then sponged with White Craft Ink on the edges.  The very tips were also sponged with Rich Razzleberry Ink.  The layers are all attached with Stampin’ Dimensionals and Mini Glue Dots, then placed on the front of the bag.
  • Inside the bag, a 3-1/4 x 4 piece of Whisper White was stamped with the succulent image in Memento Black Ink and Old Olive Ink inside.  A strip of coordinating DSP was added to the bottom.
  • The Whisper White layer was added to a 3-1/2 x 4-1/4 piece of Calypso Coral cardstock.
  • Happy Mother’s Day from Oh So Succulent stamp set was stamped with Memento Black Ink.

Make sure to check out the rest of the Design Team pocket card creations this week! I can’t wait to see what they chose to do with this blog hop challenge! CCMC456 Beautiful You

I’m sure some of you are wondering why my posts are so sporatic!  Well, our house went into contract unexpectedly a couple weeks ago and things have been moving fast.  Like us having to find a home to move into!  lol!  We’ll officially move at the end of May!  Isn’t that crazy that Mary and I would move almost at the same time after living in the same homes for a LONG time!  So…I’ve been purging and cleaning.  Getting ready for my BIG Moving Sale and another Craft Sale before the move!  Yikes!

This week’s Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge is a soft and different color combination!  I wondered what direction to go…

But, here’s my card.  I love the simplicity of it!

I think this will be my MIL’s Mother’s Day card…somehow it reminds me of her with the hat!

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Tip Top Taupe cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
  • A 2-1/2 x 3-1/2 piece of Blooms & Bliss designer Paper was placed on top.
  • The lady from Beautiful You was stamped with Black Archival Ink on Whisper White and stamped her dress with Mint Macaron Ink.
  • The hat was watercolored with Tip Top Taupe Ink and the skin-tone with Blushing Bride.
  • It was cut with the Layering Oval Framelit.
  • A 3/4 x 4 piece of Old Olive was cut with flag ends, then added to the front with the Oval popped up on top with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The small flower was cut from Whisper White with the Oh So Succulent Framelits and a 1/4″ Circle of Mint Macaron added to the center.  It was placed on the front with a Mini Glue Dot.
  • Celebrate from the Beautiful You set was stamped with Black Archival Ink.

That’s it!  See…simple yet really pretty, I think!

Want some more ideas and tutorials for upcoming Annual Catalog products?  Create with Connie and Mary’s June Mini Session is COMING SOON!  (Yes, we skipped May due to the uncertainty of the retiring products and the lateness of the preorder)…but you still can get a PREORDER 2017 BONUS  using Eastern Palace Suite right NOW by purchasing the June and July Mini Sessions!  See Create with Connie and Mary for more details!

It’s Saturday and time for the Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop! Our design team theme is “Cards with Frames”…anything that frames a focal image!

I pulled out my Basket Bunch stamp set…it’s not just for Easter, you know!  This card also has a fun fold (as shown by Chris Slogar!)

Here are the details on this card:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 7-3/4 Flirty Flamingo cardstock, scored at 1-3/4 and 6″.
  • Two 1-1/2 x 5-1/4 pieces of Whisper White cardstock were used as mats on the base card, then two 1-1/4 x 5 pieces of In Color Patterns DSP on top.
  • The Whisper White mats measure 5 ¼” x 1 1/2” and the designer paper pieces  measure 5? x 1 1/4?.
  • The greeting from Basket Bunch is stamped inside on the 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Whisper White with Chocolate Chip Ink.
  • The frame of Daffodil Delight was cut with two of the Layering Squares (one solid and one scallop), then added over another solid square on the back.  It was popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals to stand out a little.
  • The basket was stamped with Chocolate Chip Ink on Crumb Cake cardstock, the flowers were stamped with Chocolate Chip Ink on Daffodil Delight and Flirty Flamingo cardstock, cut with the Basket Builder Framelits and added to the basket with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The centers were punched with the 1/8″ Circle Punch from Daffodil Delight and Flirty Flamingo cardstock.
  • A few leaves were stamped with Chocolate Chip Ink on Garden Green cardstock, cut out with the Framelit and tucked in the flowers.

The flaps flip up and down to show the inside:
