CCMC Saturday Blog Hop – Love is in the Air

We’re back for another Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop with the Design Team! Our theme this week is Love is in the Air!  With Valentine’s Day coming up, we all need a valentine for our special person, don’t we?  Well, at least in the US…I don’t think it is as recognized in our other markets as much!

I used the Life Me Up Bundle in the Occasions Catalog for my card today!  It gave it a more masculine look, I think.  Will probably give this to my husband!

Here are the details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Real Red cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
  • On top is a layer of 4 x 5-1/4 Basic Black cardstock.
  • On the 3-3/4 x 5 layer of Whisper White, a 1 x 5 strip of Sending Love Designer Paper is added to the bottom.  Then the 1/8″ Real Red Sending Love Ribbon is added across the front and secured in the back.
  • The outline of the balloon was cut with the Up & Away Thinlit from Real Red cardstock, then adhered to Basic Black and cut around the edges.  It was added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Love Is in the Air from Lift Me Up stamp set is stamped with Memento Black Ink.
  • The “postage” is cut from the Sending Love Designer Paper and adhered in the upper right corner.
  • The Sending Love Wood Heart Embellishment is added to the hot air balloon with Tombow Multipurpose Glue.

I love it! OK…make sure to continue on around the Blog Hop to see all the Design Team creations! I can’t wait to get inspired! CCMC Saturday Blog Hop – Masculine Birthday

It’s time for the Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop with the Design Team!  Our theme this week is Masculine Birthdays!  I’m hoping for LOTS of inspiration as I find this category the hardest to design!

I used the new Nailed It stamp set in the Occasions Catalog for my card today!  I love it paired with the Urban Underground Designer Paper!  (This is my second card this week using this set, so if you missed our Thursday Challenge, make sure to go back and take a look!)  My Club Members will be making this card this month!

Here are the details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Delightful Dijon cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
  • On top is a layer of 4 x 5-1/4 Basic Black cardstock.
  • The measuring ruler in the Build It Framelits actually EMBOSSES the ruler…it is SO cool!  I used a strip of Gold Metallic Paper and the ruler Thinlet along the left edge.
  • A 2-1/4 x 4 piece of Urban Underground DSP is placed on the front.
  • The largest Oval Stitched Shapes Framelit cuts a piece of Delightful Dijon Cardstock.  Happy Birthday from Designer Tee (FREE SAB set) is stamped with Memento Black Ink at the bottom of the oval.  It is popped up on the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The hammer, screwdriver and wrench are stamped with Memento Black Ink on Very Vanilla and watercolored with Delightful Dijon and Smoky Slate Markers and AquaPainter, then cut with the Build It Framelits.  They are adhered on the oval.

OK…make sure to continue on around the Blog Hop to see all the Design Team creations!  I can’t wait to get inspired!  Next up is our Create with Connie and Mary website to find out more about our January Create with Connie and Mary Mini Session…it is a fantastic one!  Or you can go backwards to Melissa’s blog!

Mediterranean Achievers Blog Hop – Feb 2016

GV Blog Header

Welcome to the Mediterranean Cruise Achievers Monthly Blog Hop!  Anyone who earned Stampin’ Up!’s Grand Vacation this year was able to participate!  Many of us are busily trying to get our excursions and travel arrangements completed for the upcoming trip in May!  So exciting since demonstrators from all over will be attending.  I can’t wait to meet up with some of the international demos I follow regularly…like the fabulous Kylie who organizes this blog hop!

Our theme this month is “One for the Boys”…I always need masculine card ideas, don’t you?  At the bottom of this post is a list of those demos who are participating this month…click on the name after mine (Connie Babbert) to continue on the tour.  (You may need to click on the title to go to my blog if you are getting this in an email.)

Cups and Kettle
I decided to use the FABULOUS Cups & Kettle Framelits and Timeless Textures stamp set on my card.  The A Nice Cuppa tea stamps that coordinate with the Cups & Kettle Framelits are really nice, but did you know there are several shapes in the Framelits that are NOT in the stamp set?  This coffee mug is one of them!  I love it!  I decided to pair the Framelits with the Going Places Designer Paper Stack to get a truly masculine feel.  Here’s what I did:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Crumb Cake.
  • On the 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Very Vanilla, the circle stain from Timeless Textures stamp set was randomly stamped with Crumb Cake ink in the lower right and upper left areas.  The speckle image in the same set was used with Lost Lagoon Ink, too.
  • A 1-1/4 x 5-1/4 strip of the black script pattern in Going Places DSP was placed across the front.
  • The mug framelit was cut 3 times from patterns in the Going Places DSP and lined up across the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The heart “steam” was cut with a mostly black pattern of DSP, too, and adhered above the last mug.
  • The World’s Greatest Guy stamp from Greatest Greetings was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink under the DSP.

My husband loves coffee, so I’m sure he will be getting this card sometime soon!

OK…here’s the list of participants in this month’s blog hop…click on the name after mine, Connie Babbert, to the next fabulous masculine project idea!

Mediterranean Achievers Blog Hop – Jan 2016

GV Blog Header

WELCOME!  It has been several months since I’ve had the chance to participate in the Mediterranean Grand Achievers Blog Hop!  The theme this month is “All You Need is Love”.  I can’t wait to see all the ideas!  You may just be starting the blog hop here at my blog, Connie Babbert, or have come from the person before me.  Just continue around the blog hop by clicking on the link for the next person in line after my name, Connie Babbert, listed below.  Enjoy!

With this theme, you’ll probably be seeing a lot of pink and red on this month’s blog hop.  But, I wanted to create a special Valentine/Love card for my husband…he does SO much and I truly appreciate him!  I went with some masculine colors and the Going Places bundle of products for my husband’s card.  Hope he doesn’t peek at my blog before I give it to him!

Here’s the outside with the card closed:

Jan 2016 Going Global
And here it is opened up:

Jan 2016 Going Global inside
Want some details?

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Sahara Sand, scored at 2-3/4 and 5-1/2.  The short flap for the front is folded back on itself.
  • A 2-3/4 x 5-1/2 piece of Going Places Designer Paper covers the front flap.
  • A 4 x 5-1/4 piece of coordinating Going Places Designer Paper covers the inside.
  • Two sizes of stars were cut with the Star Framelits and Hello Honey cardstock.  The larger 3-7/8″ star was adhered to the front panel and the smaller 2-7/8″ star inside, making sure the front star will completely cover up the inside star when the card is closed.
  • The Lucky Stars greeting was stamped inside on the star with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.
  • The Globe was stamped with Tuxedo Black Ink on Lost Lagoon and cut with the 2-3/8″ Circle Framelit, then layered on a 2-1/2″ Circle of Basic Black cardstock.  It is popped up on the front of the star with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The lost without you greeting was stamped on a 1/2 x 4 strip of Whisper White and adhered over the center of the globe.

I thought this was such an appropriate card since my husband IS the star in my life and it would be a great Valentine card!  OK…now time to move on to the next fabulous person in line under my name, Connie Babbert.  I’m sure you’ll get LOTS of inspiration as you go around the blog hop!  Have fun!

SUOC140 Valentine

It’s time for the SUO Challenge and the theme is Valentine projects!  I decided to go with a masculine color scheme for my Valentine…I may give it to my husband this year!  I used the Going Global suite of products…the stamp set, the World Traveler Folder and punched hearts from the Going Places Designer Series Paper Stack!

SUOC140 Going Global

Here are the details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Mossy Meadow folded in half.
  • The 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Very Vanilla is embossed with the World Traveler Embossing Folder.
  • Across the bottom is a 1/4 x 5-1/4 strip of Gold Metallic Paper.
  • Hearts were punched with the Sweetheart Punch from the Going Global Designer Paper Stack and adhered across the front.
  • The Going Global Stamp set heart image was stamped with Tuxedo Black on Hello Honey and punched with the Sweetheart Punch, too.  On the back, several loops of Gold Metallic Thread was adhered, then the heart popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals on front.  Love that little bit of glitter the thread provides!

Clean and simple design that makes a great masculine card, I think!  Make sure to check out what the rest of the SUO Challenge Design Team did this week…the are fabulous ideas!

  • A 3 3/8 x 3 3/8 square of Smoky Slate is layered on a 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 Basic Black cardstock and adhered in the middle.  The greetings from Guy Greetings were placed on top and bottom corners.

Want to know how I made it?

  • The base is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 Pacific Point cardstock.
  • I cut a 1 1/2 x 4 piece of High Tide DSP with the wheel on it and added it to the side of the coordinating DSP with the anchors on it.
  • I wrapped some Summer Starfruit Stitched Ribbon around the seam and secure it on the back.
  • I cut a Pacific Point Deco Label Framelit.  I stamped the Circle Framelit with Summer Starfruit it and the Best Mate image from Hello Sailor stamp set and adhered it on the Deco Label Framelit.
  • Before I placed the Deco Label, I added a 3/4 x 4 piece of Pool Party cardstock.
  • I stamped the wheel with Pacific Point on Smoky Slate cardstock and cut it with the Circle Framelit and added a Vintage Brad in the center.  It is popped up on the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Look Up to Father

I just recently purchased Stampin' Up!'s stamp set, Look Up to Father, and couldn't wait to use it!  I'm fortunate to have both my father and my father-in-law still with us.  I'll be using this set for my Father's Day cards this year.  I used the sketch from this week's Technostampers Lunchtime Sketch Challenge!  I haven't played along in SOOOO long!

TSSC306

Here's my take on the sketch.  I purposely kept it simple and without embellishments.  I had debated on a button, but thought it looked more masculine without and I didn't want to cover up any of the Designer Paper.

Look up to Father

  1. The base is 4 1/4 x 11 Soft Suede folded in half.
  2. I added a 4 x 5 1/4 piece of Pistachio Pudding Venetian Romance Designer Paper to the front.
  3. I first inked up the Look up to Father image with Pistachio Pudding ink.  I colored the tree trunk with the Early Espresso Marker and then used Wild Wasabi, Garden Green and Always Artichoke Markers and the Thumping Technique to get the variety of colors on the leaves and grass, then stamped it on a 3 x 4 piece of Very Vanilla cardstock.
  4. I layered the Very Vanilla on a 3 1/4 x 4 1/4 piece of Wild Wasabi and placed on the front.
  5. Across it, I used the Soft Suede pattern in Venetian Romance DSP package in a 3 7/8 x 1" size.
  6. I stamped the words again from Look Up to Father with Soft Suede ink on a strip of Wild Wasabi cardstock, then cut flag ends.
  7. At the last minute, I punched some Soft Suede chevrons with the Chevron Punch and added them at the top…I thought it balanced the Soft Suede color on the front.

So…what do you think?  I love how it turned out…just like what was in my head!  lol!

The Great Outdoors

First I want to thank you for all the sweet comments you left about my Ruffled Paper Frame Mirror!  Didn't we have a fabulous week of FREE Preview Week Tutorials!  Wow!  I can't wait to make some of the projects the other Design Team members showed!

We JUST started the New Catalog 2012 Edition of Create with Connie and Mary, so it's not too late to join!  This week we are featuring the new "Nature" sets from the 2012-2013 Idea Catalog!  Papaya Collage, Serene Silhouettes, Fine Feathers, Flock Together, Take Care, World Treasures and The Great Outdoors are all included!  Don't miss out…sign up today to be the first to see the new projects we share!

The Great Outdoors was TOP of my list to purchase…a great masculine set for my family who like campfires, camping and sitting at games in camp chairs!  I made this one up for my dad's birthday!  Since June is a crazy month for us with lots of birthdays, anniversaries and Father's Day, we picked the last Sunday in June to celebrate all of them.  He'll get this on Sunday!  My kids can remember MANY, MANY weiner roasts over a fire with their grandpa at the Lake House.

I started with a base of Midnight Muse (yes…I'm really LOVING this new shade of dark blue!)  I added a layer of Crumb Cake.  On top of that I layered more Midnight Muse cut on each long end with the new Finishing Touch edge.  I added World Spectacular Designer Paper pattern and a little Daffodil Delight Stitched Ribbon across the bottom.  I stamped the campfire image and weiner stick with Black Stazon on Whisper White and cut it with the Label Framelit.  I colored with Stampin' Write Markers in Sahara Sand, Crumb Cake, Chocolate Chip, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie and Real Red.  The weiner is Calypso Coral with Crumb Cake over top.  Hmmm, this is making me hungry!  I love burnt hotdogs!  lol!

I hope to get lots done today…Convention is coming up FAST and I have lots of swaps to make, plus finish up a couple more projects for Create!  Busy, busy!
