Holiday Mix

Saturday on our Create with Connie & Julie site, we issued a challenge is to create a home decor item using Decor Elements or Chipboard.

My challenge home decor project actually started as a little tray.  I saw several different sizes at the Hobby store, but picked up the small size.  The bottom ended up being a 7×7 size…perfect!  Here is what it looked like before I altered it.

Then I adhered the flocked red/white pattern from Christmas Cocoa Specialty Designer Paper along the bottom.  I cut squares of the Soft Suede print from the same Christmas Cocoa package and adhered the Holiday Mix Decor Elements letters N-E-L on the designer paper, layered it on Real Red and then Whisper White.  The O is the wreath from Berry Christmas stamped in Soft Suede and the bow with the Stampin' Write Real Red Marker.  I added a Clear Rhinestone Brad to the center of the bow.  I also used the Merry Details die to cut a Real Red bird to sit on the bow.  I layered the Whisper White on Soft Suede, then Real Red and finally Whisper White to match the others letters

I added a Red Gingham Ribbon bow to the letter N, I used the Merry Details Die again for the Snowflake in the corner of the E adding a Clear Rhinestone brad in the center and I used the two trees in Real Red next to the L.  On each of them, I used the Frost Shimmer Paint to give them some extra sparkle!

I think this makes a lovely tray to display on your side table or bookshelf.  I probably wouldn't use it for food or drinks since there really isn't any protection on top.

Supplies:

Stamps:  Berry Christmas (116509)

Ink:  Soft Suede Classic Ink (115657), Stampin' Write Real Red Marker (100051)

Bloggers Challenge – Techniques

Good morning!  Today's Bloggers' Challenge was to pick a technique to do.  I just had my Technique Class last week, so I chose one of those cards to feature!  I showed everyone how to do the Mosaic technique I learned from Technique Junkies.

I chose my colors from the stripe in Thoroughly Modern Designer Paper.  I used Melon Mambo, Bermuda Bay and Soft Suede cardstock to complement it.

The base card is Bermuda Bay, then I laid down a 2" strip of Sticky Page and added my mosaic pieces.  The grout lines were filled with Gold Embossing Powder.

The focal point I stamped the wreath in Soft Suede and the berries in Melon Mambo.  The bow was added with the Melon Mambo marker.  This piece was layered on Soft Suede and then Melon Mambo cardstock.  I cut the little bird from Merry Details Sizzlet Die in my Big Shot!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!  Should be a good football game on tomorrow with Ohio State playing Penn State!  Go Bucks!
