July Tour de Freaks is here!
Yes! It's time for the July Tour de Freaks! You probably just came from Jan Tinklenberg's blog…or…if you came here first, you can just click on the links to go around to all 12 stops on the tour…eventually stopping back here! But…if you arrive here prior to July 20th, please note that not all links may be working yet!
Our theme this month was Christmas in July OR showing off the awesome swaps that our Control Freaks members did for the Convention Swap at lunchtime! They were so fabulous that we just had to show them off to everyone!
Here is my first card. My punch class is doing this tonight, too!

When I first saw the Perfect Pennants Die, I thought it looked like a slice of pizza. I originally thought I'd use the smaller size, but the large one just reached out and grabbed me! The base of the card is Riding Hood Red and I layered on Very Vanilla that I ran thru the Big Shot with the new Houndstooth Impressions Folder (LOVE it!). At the bottom I stamped You're Invited from Sincere Salutations in Riding Hood Red ink. I wrapped around Crumb Cake Taffeta Ribbon and tied a knot. I think it really is a very realistic looking pizza, don't you?
My second card fits both the themes. I love Snow Much Fun from the new catalog! I'm SO happy to get a new snowman stamp set!

This one uses lots of punches, too. In fact, I may use this for my Christmas Card this year! I started with the base of Pear Pizzazz and layered on Poppy Parade. I added a strip of Poppy Parade striped Patterns Designer Paper on the right side. I cut the Top Note Die from Whisper White and ran thru the Big Shot again with Perfect Polka Dots Impressions Folder. I punched the 2 1/2 Circle from Poppy Parade. I stamped the Snowman on Whisper White and punched with the 2 3/8 Scallop Circle…it is colored with Stampin' Write Markers. I added a Pear Pizzazz 1 3/8" Circle and off set the snowflake from the Northern Frost Strip Die with a Silver Mini Brad. Finally, I stamped the greeting with Black Stazon on Baja Breeze and punched with the Modern Label Punch.
And, finally, I made a 3D Snowman Hot Chocolate Cocoa Holder to swap at Convention. I was inspired by one that I received in a candy swap last year…but I changed several things around on it.

EDIT: Dimensions are 4 1/4 x 11, score at 3 1/2 and 8. Top flap is embossed, lower flap folds up to hold the cocoa (no adhesive…the ribbon holds the whole thing closed). Round all corners with the Corner Rounder punch.
I used the Circles Die to make the three circles for the telescope snowman and sponged the edges with Pool Party Ink. They are layered together with Stampin' Dimensionals. I used the Crop A Dile for the Black Eyes and a White Gel Pen for the highlights. I cut a small triangle of Pumpkin Pie cardstock for the nose. I added a piece of Blushing Bride Ribbon for his scarf, held with Mini Glue Dots. The arms are punched with the Snowflake Punch from Chocolate Chip cardstock. I used the Northern Flurry Impressions Folder on Pool Party cardstock. The Chocolate Chip Scallop Dotted Ribbon holds the packed closed. Inside is a package of Hot Chocolate Cocoa Mix. Finally, I stamped "to my friend" from Friendly Phrases in Chocolate Chip Ink on the bottom flap of the package.
Thanks for stopping by…next stop on the tour is LeeAnn Greff's blog! You will love her cards! Make sure to check out everyone's creations this month!
Build a Cupcake Criss Cross Box
I originally had thought to make these Criss Cross boxes, made from the Pennant XL Die, for a Candy Wrapper Swap that I did at Leadership. Inside the box is a wrapped Kit Kat bar! However, I changed my mind. I still think it is cute, so thought I'd share it here since it is Bring on the Cake Suite week over on Create with Connie and Mary! Our Occasions Edition subscription is JUST getting started! It's not too late to join!

Would you like a tutorial for this? If so, I may be persuaded to make one up! Leave me a comment and I'll see what I can do!
I did use the Pennant XL Die to make the box out of Daffodil Delight Textured cardstock. I didn't like the seam in the back, so I added a matted layer of Pumpkin Pie Textured Cardstock in the back. I wrapped around a strip of the new Sale-A-Bration Ice Cream Parlor Designer Series Paper. The Scallop Circle is from the Pennant Die also, cut from Pumpkin Pie textured cardstock. I layered on a 1 3/4 Circle Punch of Old Olive that I ran thru the Big Shot with the Square Lattice Impressions Folder. The base of the cupcake liner was punched from another pattern in Ice Cream Parlor DSP. The frosting is punched from yet another pattern, except I covered it with Versamark and then Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder to make it sparkle! I added a small Itty Bitty Punch Flower of Daffodil Delight and a Rhinestone Jewel in the center of it. The cupcake is popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals!

Inside, the Kit Kat Candy Bar is wrapped with another pattern in the Ice Cream Parlor DSP, and wrapped with Pumpkin Pie Taffeta Ribbon that is tied around with a knot. Can you believe I've used up almost an entire package of that Ice Cream Parlor DSP already!!! I can't wait to order more! TODAY is the first day of Sale-A-Bration…every $50 order you place, you can choose one of the selections in the Sale-A-Bration brochure! Make sure to place your ONLINE ORDER with me! I certainly appreciate your business!
Hope you like my Build a Cupcake Criss Cross Candy Wrapper box! I thought it turned out CUTE!!!
50th Anniversary Favors
Here is what I’ve been working on the past couple days. I’m making these for the dinner party on Friday night.
The box is made from the Matchbox XL Bigz Die in the Occasions Mini Catalog! I LOVE this box…it is the perfect size to hold four Hershey Nuggets or other small items. My father is diabetic, so I try to stay away from candy…he LOVES Cashews, so I found some Jumbo Whole ones and am filing each box with the Cashew Nuts. The base of the Matchbox is done in Whisper White cardstock. The sleeve is cut from Brushed Gold cardstock. After I cut the sleeve, I ran it thru the Big Shot again with the Texturz Filigree Backgrounds plate…it really jazzes up the plain Brushed Gold cardstock!
For the medallion, I used my Just Rite Stamper (gasp!…not Stampin’ Up!) with the wedding ensemble…using the Happy Annivesary ring. I added the 50 in the center. This is a fun way to personalize your stamper. Each one was embossed with Gold Detail Embossing Powder on Whisper White cardstock. After I made them all, I thought I should have spelled out Jerry & Donna…but…too late! I’m not going to re-do them all. I punched the medallion with my 1 3/4 circle punch, then used the Pennant XL Bigz die to make the scallop circle…it layers behind the 1 3/4 circle perfectly! I punched a 1/8" circle in one of the top scallops and wrapped the White Stripe Organza ribbon around the box and tied on the Scallop Medallion.
I love how these turned out and they weren’t really hard to make. Before I put the cashews in, I lined the box with a small gold foil doily…so the inside looks pretty, too!
Today’s the last day to order the April Card Kit! Don’t miss out!
