Embossed Pumpkin Card

I’ve been loving the “white” pumpkins that have started appearing over the past few years.  I have a couple of different fake ones for decorations around the house!  I had originally thought to use this card for my Stamp Club last month, but changed my mind at the last minute to something else!  I still like how it turned out with the Petals& Paisleys Designer Paper!  Can you see the embossing on the pumpkin itself?

Here are the details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Rich Razzleberry cardstock, folded in half.
  • On top is a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Very Vanilla cardstock, stamped with “thanks” from Watercolor Wishes stamp set in Always Artichoke Ink.
  • A 1/2 x 5-1/4 strip of Crumb Cake was adhered to the bottom of the Very Vanilla layer, then a 2 x 5-1/4 piece of Petals & Paisley’s Designer Paper was placed over it.  On top to hide the seam, place a 1/4 x 5-1/4 strip of Always Artichoke.
  • Cut three of the large Layering Ovals from Very Vanilla cardstock and emboss with the Petal Burst Embossing Folder, sponge around the edges with Crumb Cake Ink and adhere together to form the pumpkin shape.
  • Handcut a stem from Crumb Cake cardstock and sponge with Crumb Cake Ink around the edges.  Place it behind the top of the pumpkin.
  • Stamp the leaf from Vintage Leaves with Always Artichoke Ink and cut with the Leaflet Framelits.  Adhere at the top of the pumpkin with a Stampin’ Dimensional.
  • Adhere pumpkin to the front of the base card!

That’s it!  LOVE my white pumpkin!  Want some more ideas that you’ll love?

Jar of Haunts Grinch

First…remembering…everything 15 years ago.

I promised I’d show the Grinch I made from the pumpkin in the Jar of Haunts stamp set!  I knew when I originally made and posted THIS HALLOWEEN CARD, that the face looked like the Grinch.  Several others commented the same thing!  Here’s my take on him:

Details are here:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Real Red cardstock, folded in half.
  • On the 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Crumb Cake cardstock, a 1-1/2 x 5-1/4 strip of Old Olive was embossed with the Cable Knit folder and adhered on top.
  • Tie a knot in the Watermelon Wonder Mini Striped Ribbon (LOVE that it looks so great for Christmas!) and adhere the ends to the back of the Crumb Cake cardstock.
  • Naughty or Nice from Greetings from Santa was stamped with Memento Black Ink in the upper left corner.
  • A Layering Thinlets circle was cut from the Warmth & Cheer Designer Paper Stack and then layered on a Layering Scallop Circle of Real Red cardstock, then placed on the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • For the Grinch:  The pumpkin image from Jar of Haunts was stamped with Memento Black Ink on Old Olive, the cut out and the extra band on the side of the pumpkin cut off to make it smaller.  The eyes were stamped on the pumpkin with Memento Black, then stamped again on Whisper White and cut out, colored with Crushed Curry Marker and added over the eyes on the pumpkin.  Add a tiny Basic Black cardstock triangle for the nose and hand-draw the mouth with a Basic Black marker.  The hat was punched from Real Red and Whisper White with the Jolly Hat Builder Punch and the body suit was punched from Real Red with the Bell Punch.  The trim along the neck is a shorter version of the hat band.  The Grinch was added to the circles with Stampin’ Dimensionals!

OK…what do you think?  I think it turned out REALLY great!!!  Fun for my grandkids cards this year!

CCMC Saturday Blog Hop – Halloween Favor

Woohoo! It’s Saturday…and that means the Create with Connie and Mary Design Team have their weekly blog hop! This week we are featuring Halloween favors using stamp sets in the Holiday Catalog!  I pulled out a set that I hadn’t inked up yet, Sparkly Seasons to use the Halloween face pumpkin on the Square Pillow Box!

Sparkly Seasons Pillow Box Treat

Here are the details on how I made it:

  • The base is two cuts from Crumb Cake Cardstock with the Square Pillow Box Thinlet Die to make the box.  It was stamped with Soft Suede Ink and the Hardwood Background Stamp, added Tear and Stick Tape to the tabs and formed the box.
  • A 2 x 12 Belly Band of Happy Hauntings DSP wrapped around the outside and adhered.
  • A quarter piece of the Spider Web Doily was adhered to the inside top of the Belly Band.
  • The chevron circle in Sparkly Seasons was stamped with Tangelo Twist ink on Tangelo Twist cardstock and the face added with Tuxedo Black Ink, then punched with the 2″ Circle Punch.  The stem/leaf image was stamped with Old Olive, the stem colored with Chocolate Chip Marker and cut out, then put on top of the pumpkin.  It was added to the Belly Band with Stampin’ Dimensionals
  • The spider from Cheer All Year was stamped with Tuxedo Black on Whisper White and cut out, then added over the web and pumpkin.
  • Happy Haunting from Cheer All Year was stamped with Tuxedo Black on Whisper White cardstock, then trimmed into two pieces and added to the front.

Fall Fest Frankenstein

Since we are getting ready to start the Holiday Collection PREVIEW WEEK over on Create with Connie and Mary tomorrow, I’ll be showing lots of Christmas Cards over the next few weeks since our Collection is using Holiday and Winter stamp sets.  But, I’ve had this idea in my head to make for a while, so I thought I’d take this opportunity to make a last Halloween card and show my Frankenstein made with the Fall Fest Pumpkin and Framelits!

Fall Fest Frankenstein

Here are the details:

  • The base is 4 1/4 x 11 Basic Black, folded in half.
  • On the 4 x 5 1/4 layer of Old Olive, I embossed the top portion with the Lucky Stars Folder.
  • I cut a pennant from the Party Pennants Bigz Die from Basic Black cardstock and added it to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • I stamped the Halloween Street image on a 1 1/4 x 4 piece of Whisper White with Tuxedo Black Ink.  Then on a scrap piece of Whisper White, I stamped it again with Old Olive Ink and cut out the Happy Banner to adhere over the black one.
  • The large pumpkin from Fall Fest was stamped with Old Olive on Whisper White, then stamped the face with Tuxedo Black on it.
  • I cut the large pumpkin from Basic Black cardstock with the Fall Fun Framelit then  used my Paper Snips to cut a jagged line of “hair” off the top and adhered it over top of the Old Olive one.
  • I hand-drew the scar lines with Basic Black Marker.  I also hand-cut two bolts from Brushed Silver cardstock and adhered them on the sides.
  • I added a couple highlights on the “hair” with a White Gel Pen, and used the Sahara Sand Marker along the ground for a shadow.
  • I punched the pumpkin image with the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch and added it to the pennant with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • I colored the Rhinestones with Old Olive Blendabilities and added a trio of them to the circle.

Isn’t it fun?  I love how it turned out!  I think I’ll make a few more of these for my Halloween cards this year!

And here is my card!  I love fall and pumpkins!

The details:

  • The base is 4 1/4 x 11 Sahara Sand cardstock, folded in half.
  • On top I added a 3 1/2 x 5 1/2 layer of Color Me Autumn Designer Paper.  I picked a neutral background so the bright pumpkin would pop off the page.
  • I cut three ovals (second from smallest) with the Oval Framelits from Pumpkin Pie cardstock.  I also embossed them with the Delicate Dots Embossing Folder.  I sponged Tangerine Tango ink around the edges of each oval.  The two bottom ones were adhered together, then added the top oval with Stampin’ Dimensionals to form the pumpkin shape.
  • I stamped the small leaves in Fall Fest with Cajun Craze, Mossy Meadow and Crushed Curry, then cut them with the Fun Fall Framelits.
  • I tied a small piece of Mossy Meadow Satin Ribbon in a knot for the stem and adhered it behind the pumpkin.  I added another leaf stamped with Mossy Meadow ink to the stem.
  • Celebrate from Good Greetings (FREE this month with a $300 workshop!) was stamped with Mossy Meadow ink on Whisper White strip and cut the diagonal end.
  • I used one of the Autumn Woods Elements on top of the leaves for a little extra bling!

Today, Mary Brown has a wonderful FREE TUTORIAL and some BLOG CANDY for you over on Create with Connie and Mary, you are going to LOVE her darling project.  It's a "second use" for something in the Holiday Catalog and I know you will want to see it and make one (or two!) for yourself!  In honor of her project, I took a couple elements on her project and used them on my card today with Stampin' Up!'s Truly Grateful stamp set!  When you compare the two of them, I think you'll see what I did!

Here are the details:

  1. The base is 4 1/4 x 11 Chocolate Chip cardstock folded in half to make the card.
  2. I embossed the 4 x 5 1/4 layer of Crumb Cake with the new Stylish Stripes folder.
  3. I added some strips of Sweater Weather Designer Paper across the front and cut flag ends.  I also stamped the Truly Grateful greeting with Pumpkin Pie ink on Very Vanilla strip and added it on top.
  4. Next I wrapped the Linen thread around a couple times, then added a Naturals Designer Button and tied a bow inside.  I secured it with a Mini Glue Dot.
  5. For my pumpkin, I cut 3 of the next to smallest Ovals in the Oval Framelits.  I used Pumpkin Pie Ink and stamped the chevron image in Truly Grateful over them (thanks Mary!)…it adds so much texture to them!
  6. I cut a free-form stem from the DSP and then a curly cue strip to curl from the top of the pumpkin.  The leaf is the Small Heart punched from Gumball Green and tucked under the top of the Pumpkin.

LOVE this card!!!  Hope you like it, too!
