Serene Snowflakes
Life is kind of crazy here…trying to get the initial planning done on the wedding. Since I'm in town I get to be more involved in the planning, which is FUN, but again time-consuming. We are sitting in pretty good shape now with reception location nailed down. Next up is Save the Dates to be designed and sent out!
So…onto my card! Here is a card that I made with my technique class last month. I got the idea from Dawn Olchefsky who calls it Clear Block Stamping. I love the subtle look of the block inked in the background! I switched up her fall card to a Christmas/Winter card!

The base card is Marina Mist cardstock and I layered on Night of Navy. The main layer is Whisper White. I inked up the square D Clear Mount Block with Marina Mist, then stamped off on scrap paper, then inked up the edges with Night of Navy ink and stamped on Whisper White. In the top left and lower right corners I stamped off with Marina Mist ink and the smallest snowflakes from Stampin' Up!'s Serene Snowflake stamp set. I stamped the largest snowflake full-strengh with Marina Mist and the next size snowflake full-stength with Night of Navy. Inside the large snowflake I placed a Silver Glimmer Brad for some sparkle! I added the greeting from Many Merry Messages with Night of Navy Ink.
I wrapped some Marina Mist Taffeta Ribbon around and tied a knot on the front. This is a pretty quick and easy holiday card to make! Not a lot of bulk on the front so it is easy to mail!
Well…I have to get in my Studio today and get some things done! Deadlines are creeping up on me! lol!
I have a couple spots left in my next Round of Ribbon Shares! Find more information HERE!

Another card that fits the non-traditional color theme over on Latenightstampers! My upline received a similar card from her upline and I loved it, so had to CASE it! It uses the Tulipe Bigz Die (ON SALE NOW CLICK FOR DETAILS HERE!) as an accent. The Tulipe is cut and the center part and Melon Moss part opens up and the Bermuda Bay flap folds down. Great to hold a gift card!
The base is Sahara Sand at 4 1/4 x 11 and scored at 1 3/4 and 7 1/4. The designer paper is Thoroughly Modern. The large snowflake from Stampin' Up!'s Serene Snowflakes was stamped in Bermuda Bay on Whisper White, then the trio snowflakes stamped in Melon Mambo. I layered the Whisper White on Melon Mambo card stock. Peace on Earth from Four Holidays Stamp Set was inked with Soft Suede Classic Ink. I added a pink Ice Circle Rhinestone brad in the center. The Tulipe Bigz Die was cut on the Big Shot with Soft Suede.
I used the Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint and a sponge dauber all around the edges of the layers, on the snowflakes and on the Tulipe diecut! It is so pretty in real life. (AND, good news!…Shimmer Paint will continue to be available as a write-in item in our catalog! Yeah! I love that stuff!)
In the second picture, I left the bottom folded up so you could see how the Tulipe diecut was placed, but the flap actually folds down.
Isn't this a fun card? I'll be using that Tulipe die again that way!
Well, still trying to catch up on everything for Christmas. I did get almost all my shopping done…only one more gift to get. Yeah!

Serene Snowflakes
Good morning! I hope you had a great weekend. My craft fair was a moderate success and I did get to spend Sunday stamping and catching up (and CLEANING my studio!)
I love making Christmas cards…especially those with snowmen and snowflakes. Of course, I had to buy Serene Snowflakes in the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Mini catalog.
My design team challenge over on LateNightStampers is to create a single layer card. Now…you KNOW that is SO not me! I love layers! I had a really hard time thinking of what to do until this popped in my head!
I started with a base of Confetti White cardstock because it has a heavier weight than regular Whisper White cardstock. It is cut to 4 1/4 x 11 and folded in half. I stamped the Serene Snowflakes and Four the Holidays words across the front in Night of Navy Classic Ink. I used my circle punches in different sizes and punched them thru scrap cardstock to make templates. Then I took a sponge dauber and Bashful Blue Classic Ink to make the circle shadows in the background…just swirled the ink around the opening of the template. Tip: Start with the large one and then fill in with the smaller ones. I made sure that one of the circles covered the center of the large snowflake.
It is hard to see, but I did add some Crystal Effects and Dazzling Diamonds to the centers of each snowflake and the tips of the larger one. I wrapped some Silver Stretch Cord around the left fold and tied a bow. Clean and simple! It would be easy to make a lot of these for Christmas cards!

Serene Snowflakes
Same sketch, different look! If you’ll notice, I used the same layout I did as the challenge card HERE! A totally different look, huh?
When I was determining whether or not to buy the Serene Snowflakes set on preorder, I thought…I really don’t NEED another snowflake set. BUT, these snowflakes are SO delicate looking! I really am loving how they look! And…hey…every snowflake is one-of-a kind, right?
AND…I love this color combination! I normally put Silver with snowflakes. But, when I made this card I only had the Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint and I wanted to use it. So I inked up the snowflakes from Serene Snowflakes in Whisper White Craft Ink, and used a sponge dauber with a little Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint and dabbed it on the stamp over the White Craft ink. Then I stamped the images on the Bermuda Bay cardstock. It is SO pretty in real life! Since the Shimmer Paint has a faint gold tone, I layered the Bermuda Bay on Brushed Gold Cardstock (so elegant for the holidays) and wrapped the Stripe Organza Ribbon around it. The Base Card is Naturals White (a little sturdier for a base card than Whisper White). I added the Season’s Greetings from Four the Holidays in the Holiday Mini with Bermuda Bay ink in the lower right corner. Finally, just a sparkle button from the Latte Button Collection as an added touch.
I’m thinking this may be our Christmas card this year. I’ll add the snowflake punch instead of a button. It will be easy to mass produce over 120 of them!
