Saturday Blog Hop – Favorite Designer Paper

It’s Saturday and time for the Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop! Our design team theme is featuring “Favorite Designer Paper” either from the Annual Catalog or the upcoming Holiday Catalog for their cards this week.  And, trust me…this was REALLY hard for me!  There are SO many packages of the designer papers that I love!

I went with a new one in the Holiday Catalog called Year of Cheer Specialty Paper.  I actually picked this DSP package as one of the prizes in the Hospitality Suite in Thailand because I love the gold and silver snowflakes!  I wish this photo did the gold and silver metallic cardstock more justice…it is SO pretty in person!

Here are the details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Thick Whisper White cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
  • On top is a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Silver Metallic cardstock
  • The 3-1/4 x 4-1/2 piece of Year of Cheer DSP is layered on a 3-1/2 x 4-3/4 piece of Gold Metallic cardstock and added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Across the front is a 1 x 4 piece of Whisper White cardstock, stamped with the greeting from Holly Berry Happiness in Memento Black Ink.  It is layered with a 1/4 x 4 piece of Gold Metallic cardstock along the bottom.
  • Two of the snowflakes from Colorful Season thinlits were cut from Gold Metallic cardstock and Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper (take the backing of the DD Glimmer first to make it easier to cut.)  They were adhered to the front.
  • Two of the lightest Glimmer Dots were placed in the center of the snowflakes.

OK…check out what the rest of the Design Team did with the Favorite Designer Paper theme on their cards by taking our Saturday Blog Hop! Next up is Create with Connie and Mary website to find out more about our August 2017 Mini Session.  We just OPENED yesterday and it’s not too late to join!  Or go backwards to visit Melissa Davies!

Saturday Blog Hop – Favorite Color Blue

But, it’s Saturday and time for the Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop! Our design team theme is featuring “Our Favorite Blue Color” this week.  Although I’m certainly not wishing the summer away, I do LOVE Soft Sky and it naturally pairs with snowflakes.  While this card layout isn’t terribly creative (remember, I’m in the middle of a move!), I did use the pretty snowflakes in the Seasonal Layers Thinlets and one of the new embossing folders, Oh My Stars.  I felt they resembled snowflakes, too!

Here are the details on this card:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Thick Whisper White cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
  • The top half of the 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Soft Sky was embossed with the Oh My Stars Embossing Folder.
  • At the bottom, the greeting from Flurry of Wishes was stamped with Memento Black Ink.
  • The snowflakes from Seasonal Layers Thinlets were cut from Whisper White cardstock, covered with Clear Wink of Stella, and added to the front of the card.
  • Rhinestone jewels were added to the centers.

That’s it!  Easy, peasy, lemon squeezy!  LOVE those new snowflake thinlets!  OK…check out what the rest of the Design Team and their Favorite Blue cards over on Create with Connie and Mary!

Next up is our Create with Connie and Mary website to find out more about our new JUNE MINI SESSION.  Time to sign up!  We will be starting SOON!  Then continue onto Mary Brown or head backwards to Melissa Davies!

SUOC163 Tin of Tags

On a personal note:  Prayer warriors…please say a prayer for my dad, Jerry, today as he undergoes open heart bypass surgery.  Pray for the skill of the physicians and the staff caring for him and for his recovery and continued health!  Thank you!

The theme this time on SUO Challenges is Holiday Elegance!  Oh so many ways you could go with this theme!  I chose to continue with my love of embossing and picked the snowflake from Tin of Tags as the focal images on my card!  It is SO pretty in real life!

suoc163-tin-of-tags

Here are the details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Thick Whisper White cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded in half.
  • On top is a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Silver Glimmer Paper.  (To save this beautiful paper, I did cut a big rectangle out of the center!)
  • The 3-3/4 x 5 layer of Whisper White cardstock has been randomly stamped with the Snowflake from Tin of Tags stamp set with Versamark Ink, then embossed with Silver Embossing Powder.
  • Joy to the Word from the same Tin of Tags stamp set is stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink on Whisper White and cut with the circle Stitched Shape Framelit.  Then layered on the Layering Scallop Circle Framelit cut from Silver Metallic Cardstock.

As I said, lots of shimmer and shine on this card…which truly represents Holiday Elegance for me!  Check out what the others on the SUO Challenge Design Team came up with this time!  I’m sure there will be some BEAUTIFUL cards as this group is SO talented!

Stitched with Cheer

Hope you all had a great weekend!  We got to spend time with all four of the grandkids together (and their parents!), I did a fairly successful craft fair on Saturday and got in a nap on Sunday!  Plus watched some awesome college football games on Saturday night (which is why I needed the nap on Sunday!)  lol!  Need to get one of those in every once in a while and the time change still has me out of sorts for some reason.

This layout may look familiar, I used the Create with Connie and Mary sketch from a couple weeks ago.  This was the original card I made, then I went in a little different direction for the one I actually used that week.  I really like this one, too.  AND…I was so surprised to see that the snowflake in this Stitched with Cheer stamp set fits in the Snow Flurry Punch!  It isn’t marked in the catalog as fitting, but it does perfectly!

stitched-with-cheer

Here are the details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Thick Whisper White, folded in half.
  • On top is a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Soft Sky that has been embossed with the Snow Flurry Folder and sponged with White Craft Ink along the edges.
  • Two snowflakes in Stitched with Cheer were stamped in the background with Soft Sky Ink.  Then three snowflakes stamped on Whisper White and punched with the Snow Flurry punch (leave space between them!).  They were added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The greeting from Stitched with Cheer was stamped with Memento Black Ink in the lower right corner.
  • Rhinestones were added to the center of the snowflakes and scattered in the background.

This was close to being my Christmas Card this year because I liked it that much!  But, I did go in another direction…I’ll be showing that one off after I mail them next month!

OK…know what else I like a LOT?  The Create with Connie and Mary Mini Sessions!  I always get great ideas from the other designers, and the tutorials make it SO easy to duplicate them!  Want more information?

Tin of Tags

Several weeks ago, I worked on several cards using Tin of Tags and these soft colors.  You can see the one I posted already HERE.  So, here’s another slightly different one I did!

tin-of-cards

Here are the details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Smoky Slate cardstock, folded in half.
  • The 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Fancy Frost Specialty Designer Paper is textured, so I sponged Pink Pirouette Ink over top to bring out the embossed look, then adhered to the base card.
  • A 2-1/4 x 4 panel of Whisper White was randomly stamped with the snowflake in Tin of Cards with Pink Pirouette and Smoky Slate Inks.  It was added to a 2-1/2 x 4 panel of Smoky Slate, then adhered across the front.
  • Warm Wishes from Tin of Cards stamp set was stamped with Smoky Slate on Whisper White, then cut with the Layering Circles Framelits.  It was adhered to the Scallop Layering Circle slightly larger of Smoky Slate cardstock, then added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • A short length of Silver Glimmer Ribbon was added from the back of the Fancy Frost DSP layer to under the circle.  Then a bow tied with more Silver Glimmer Ribbon and adhered with Mini Glue Dots to the front.

SUOC157 Tin of Tags

This week’s SUO Challenge theme is “All Kinds of Weather”.  Although I’m not looking forward to it, I do like the look of snowy weather!  And, as long as I don’t have to drive in it!  lol!  So, I used the pretty snowflake in Tin of Tags for this week’s Design Team card!  I went with some non-traditional colors of Pink Pirouette and Smoky Slate…love that combination!

suoc157-tin-of-tags

Here are the details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Pink Pirouette cardstock, folded in half.
  • The top of the 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Whisper White was embossed with the Softly Falling Embossing Folder.  Along the bottom, I stamped the snowflake randomly with Smoky Slate and Pink Pirouette Inks.
  • The Silver Glitter Ribbon goes across the center and is adhered behind the Whisper White layer.
  • Warm Wishes was stamped with Smoky Slate Ink on scrap Whisper White and cut with the Layering Circles Thinlets, then layered on the larger Scallop Layering Circle of Smoky Slate.  It was added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Some of the pink Fancy Frost Sequins were glued on the front for a little extra bling!

OK…check out what the rest of the Design Team did this week with the “All Kinds of Weather” challenge over on SUO Challenges!  Then grab your stamps and play along!

Flurry of Wishes Snowman

I know you’ve seen several versions of this snowman online, but thought I’d also share mine!  I love the punched snowflakes along the scarf area!  I originally thought this might be my Christmas Card this year, but changed my mind…can’t wait to show you what I did.  Have to get them mailed out first!  lol!

Flurry of Wishes snowman

Here are the details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Thick Whisper White.
  • On top is a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Soft Sky, stamped with the Flurry of Wishes greeting in Tuxedo Black Ink.
  • The snowman head is a 2-1/2 Circle punched from Whisper White cardstock and cut a little more than half.
  • The scarf is two pieces, a 3/8″ x 2-1/2″ strip of Silver Glimmer Paper and a punched Word Window from Silver Glimmer Paper.
  • The nose is the tip of the Tree Punch cut from Pumpkin Pie cardstock and the eyes are 1/4″ Circle from Basic Black and highlighted with a White Gel Pen.
  • The double snowflake in the Flurry of Wishes stamp set was stamped with Soft Sky on scrap Whisper White cardstock and punched with the Softly Falling Punch.  Rhinestones were added to the center of the snowflakes and they were popped up on the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

CCMC383 Flurry of Wishes

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!  I have SO many things to be grateful for and one of them is all my blog followers!  Thank you for stopping by and visiting and leaving such sweet comments!  Makes it all worth while!

Although it is Thanksgiving, I chose not to do a fall card this week for my Thursday Create with Connie and Mary Challenge card!  I had several pieces of this card sitting on my desk and they all kind of fell together to make the card, especially since it is a CAS design sketch!  lol!  Love it when that happens!

CCMC383 copy
Here’s my card, I love the colors of Red and Crumb Cake together.  And that Red Foil just makes it a WOW!  The larger snowflake is also cut from Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper (on sale this week!)

CCMC383 Flurry of Wishes
Here are the details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Real Red, folded in half.
  • The 3-3/4 x 5 layer of Crumb Cake was embossed with the Softly Falling Embossing Folder.
  • The Flower Medallion was punched from Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper and popped up on the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The snowflake from Flurry of Wishes was stamped with Real Red and punched with the Snow Flurry Punch, the added to the larger snowflake with Tombow Multipurpose glue (I find that the best to adhere to the glimmer paper!)  In the center is a large Rhinestone Jewel.
  • Finally, fa la la from Seasonal Frame Thinlets and the Red Foil Paper and added to the front with the Tombow Multipurpose Glue, too.

OK…make sure to check out the rest of the Challenge Team ideas over on Create with Connie and Mary!  And, again, have a VERY Happy Thanksgiving!

Flurry of Wishes
Here are the details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Thick Whisper White cardstock.
  • A 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Basic Black is on top.
  • The Gold Metallic Foil Cardstock is cut 3-7/8 x 5-1/8 and stamped with the largest snowflake in Black Stazon and the greeting in Black Stazon.

Flurry of Wishes

I realized that I hadn’t shown I swap card I did for the Stampin’ Up! Grand Achievers group a couple months ago!  I filled in a second spot at the last minute for someone who had dropped out, so they needed to be quick!  Of course, my new snowflake stamp set, Flurry of Wishes, with matching punch came to the rescue.  Always my biggest critic, but I think if I did this card again, I’m use the darker Bermuda Bay for the background snowflake and the lighter one in front!

Flurry of Wishes 2

Here are the details on this CAS card, easy to mass-produce for the holidays!

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Soft Sky, folded in half.
  • On the 3-3/4 x 5 layer of Whisper White, the middle snowflake from Flurry of Wishes was stamped with Soft Sky Ink and the greeting from the same set with Bermuda Bay Ink.
  • A 3/8 x 5 strip of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper was added across the center of the snowflake.
  • The snowflake duo was stamped with Bermuda Bay Ink on scrap Whisper White, then punched with the Snow Flurry Punch, using only the larger size.  It was adhered over the larger one with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • In the center of the snowflake is a Perfect White Accent.

Yep!  That’s it!!!  Really!  I think it is so pretty and definitely sparkles in real life!
