Out on a Limb 3

OK…as promised, here is another prototype of my Control Freak Swap for the Holiday Mini.  You can see version one HERE.  I did like this one…and it is closer to where I ended up.  In the end, the spider web and spiders bugged me on this card.  So, I opted not to go with it.  I did like the moon behind the cat!

For this card, I started with a base of Basic Gray cardstock.  I layered on Pumpkin Pie that I ran thru the Big Shot with the Spider Web Impressions Folder.  I added a piece of the stripe pattern from Pick Your Poison Designer Paper…can you see the glittery strip of Silver Glimmer paper down the center of the DSP?  I also added a small Scallop Border Punch piece of the Silver Glimmer Paper in the upper right corner for a little accent!

I stamped the trio of spiders from Out on a Limb stamp set in Basic Black on the spider web impression.  Then I stamped the limb and the cat from Out on a Limb on Whisper White.  I punched a circle in a scrap piece of paper, then used Daffodil Delight to ink up the moon in the background.  The Whisper White is layered onto Basic Black cardstock.

So…as I said, I'm getting closer to what my finished swap card would look like!  Stay tuned!

Create with Connie and Mary – Halloween Theme

Today is another Thursday Challenge over on Create with Connie and Mary...and it is an EASY one!  Anything Halloween!  Grab your Halloween stamps and play along!  Just upload your creation over on Create with Connie and Mary…we love to see what you do.  Make sure to identify it as CCMC-122 and list Create with Connie and Mary in your post.

I obviously didn't get the message that everyone on the Design Team was going to do a 3D type project this week!  It didn't HAVE to be a 3D…they just all did one.  I finished mine at the stamping retreat last weekend and I like it, so I'm sticking with my card!  Although…I guess I could make it into a tag for a bag!  lol!

I started with a base of Confetti White cardstock and layered on Tangerine Tango cardstock that I ran thru the Big Shot with the Spider Web Impressions Folder.  I used a couple scraps of Wicked Fun Designer Paper and layered them on Basic Black cardstock..  For the center, I punched a 2 1/2 Circle and then stamped the Halloween sign from Dark & Dreary with Basic Black on Whisper White and punched it with the Decorative Label punch.  I stamped it again in Tangerine Tango and punched only the 31 number in the center with a 1/2 circle punch.  It is popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals.  I decided I needed a little bling and added Rhinestone Jewels on the top and bottom of the circle.  And, finally, I stamped the spider from Dark & Dreary with Basic Black on Whisper White, colored him in with the Tangerine Tango Stampin' Write Marker and cut him out.  He is also popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals.

I love how it turned out!  Make sure to check out what the rest of the Design Team has done with this week's Thursday Challenge  over on Create with Connie and Mary!  And…come play along!  Everyone is welcome!

Dark & Dreary

Good morning!  (I can still say that although I'm pushing the envelope on how close it is to noon and getting this posted!)  I hope you had a wonderful weekend.  They go by fast, don't they?

On Sunday, I was joined by a great group of gals at our Convention Round Up Demo Meeting!  I always have fun at these and come away so inspired!  It is good to see everyone.  We also do a swap as part of our program and I came away with a lot of really awesome cards!  I'm glad I found the time to make some swaps!

Here is the card I made.  I went with a Halloween theme (of course!)  I used Dark & Dreary…one of the sets that is in the new Holiday Mini coming out on Wednesday!  I've been having a LOT of fun using it AND that new Spider Web Impressions Folder…what do you think about it?  OK, here are the deets!

The base card (cardfront since it was a swap), is Tangerine Tango.  I added a layer of Basic Black that I ran thru the Big Shot with the Spider Web Impressions Folder.  I then used my Sponge Dauber and highlighted parts of the web with Platinum Shimmer Paint to make it stand out.  On the right of the Tangerine Tango, I stamped Treat or Treat, Scary & Sweet from the Grateful Greetings Stamp set.  I love the variety of holiday greetings in this set!  Then I stamped the spider from Stampin' Up!'s Dark & Dreary set and filled in his body with Basic Black marker.  I also drew a line with the marker and a ruler from the top.  I stamped the crow from Dark & Dreary in Basic Black on Whisper White, cut him out and placed him with a Stampin' Dimensional.

For the focal piece, I stamped the candlelabra in Basic Gray on Whisper White and punched it with the new XL Decorative Label Punch (I'm going to ADORE that punch!), then layered it on Basic Black cardstock and then Basic Gray cardstock.   I colored the flames with Daffodil Delight Stampin' Write Marker.  Then I stamped the Crow from Dark & Dreary in Basic Black on Whisper White and cut him out.  I placed him in front with a Stampin' Dimensional.  LOVE how that looks!

I was really happy with how my swap card turned out…even doing them LAST MINUTE before the meeting!  As I said, I was glad I found the time because I really did get some awesome swaps back!

I promised several people the template for the Bat Cone I made for the Tour de Freaks this month.  OK…here is the PDF for the Bat Cone treat favor!

Hope you have a wonderful day!
