CCMC471 Wood Words

It’s Thursday and time for another Create with Connie and Mary challenge…it’s a fun color challenge!  I originally made this card for this challenge…and loved it SO much that I just had to use it in my Wood Words Bundle class earlier this month!  I did adapt it a little by using the Wood Textures DSP for them instead of the Pinewood Planks Embossing folder, as that DSP was part of their class.  But, it’s just so fun and the colors are just SUPER cute and really lighten up this set which I tend to think is more rustic!

Here’s my card:

Here are the details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Thick Whisper White cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
  • The 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Smoky Slate cardstock was embossed with the Pinewood Planks Embossed Folder.
  • At the bottom is a 2 x 5-1/4 piece of Lemon Lime Twist that I stamped several times across with the floral image in Wood Words Stamp Set.  I love that I can make “designer paper” in any color!
  • A length of Bermuda Bay 3/8 Mini Chevron Ribbon was added across the front and adhered in back.
  • I stamped the little images in Wood Words with Smoky Slate or Bermuda Bay Ink on Whisper White and cut with the Wood Crate Framelits.  The tag was stamped with the greeting in Memento Black Ink and cut with the Tag Framelit.  A 1/8″ Hole was punched in the top of each of the shapes.
  • I added a length of Linen Thread on top of the ribbon and threaded each of the shapes thru, then secured them in place with a Stampin’ Dimensional.  An extra length of Linen Thread was tied in a bow and added to the front with a Mini Glue Dot.
  • The Hello Friend greeting was stamped with Memento Black on scrap Basic Black, then rounded the corners and tucked it under the ribbon.
  • A few Glimmer Dots were added to the star and to the background for a little “glam”!

OK…did I say how much I really LOVE this card?  lol!  Check out what the rest of the Challenge Team did over on Create with Connie and Mary!

SUOC181 Dragonfly Dreams

The theme this time on SUO Challenges is “Dragonflies and Butterflies”.  Right now my studio is in a mess again as my husband painted my room this week while taking care of me after my knee replacement surgery.  All went well and I’m progressing pretty quickly, but will be glad when I have flexibility back in my knee and less pain!  Today is the first day that I’ll be “on my own” except for the PT person coming in to do exercises with me.  I was excited to be able to make up this card while I’m recuperating!  Didn’t know how much I’d be able to sit and work!

Here are the details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Pool Party cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
  • A 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Whisper White is place on top and embossed with the Layered Leaves Dynamic embossing folder.
  • Two 1/4 x 5-1/4 strips of Tranquil Tide cardstock and two 1/4 x 4 strips of Soft Suede cardstock are placed across the front in a grid.
  • The large Layering Oval was cut from a piece of Polished Stone Glossy cardstock that I had made previously and added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The dragonfly from Dragonfly Dreams was stamped with Soft Suede Ink (detailed image) and the inside of the wings with stamped-off Tranquil Tide ink on Whisper White cardstock.  It was cut with the Dragonfly framelit and added to the oval with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Thanks greeting from Dragonfly Dreams was stamped with Tranquil Tide on Whisper White and closely cropped so just the Thanks was cut out.  It was adhered under the dragonfly.
  • You can’t see in the photo, but the wings were painted with Clear Wink of Stella.

I LOVE it!  Don’t forget to check out what the rest of the Design Team for SUO Challenges did this week with this theme! I’m sure they will have some great ideas!

Saturday Blog Hop – Favorite Designer Paper

It’s Saturday and time for the Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop! Our design team theme is featuring “Favorite Designer Paper” either from the Annual Catalog or the upcoming Holiday Catalog for their cards this week.  And, trust me…this was REALLY hard for me!  There are SO many packages of the designer papers that I love!

I went with a new one in the Holiday Catalog called Year of Cheer Specialty Paper.  I actually picked this DSP package as one of the prizes in the Hospitality Suite in Thailand because I love the gold and silver snowflakes!  I wish this photo did the gold and silver metallic cardstock more justice…it is SO pretty in person!

Here are the details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Thick Whisper White cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
  • On top is a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Silver Metallic cardstock
  • The 3-1/4 x 4-1/2 piece of Year of Cheer DSP is layered on a 3-1/2 x 4-3/4 piece of Gold Metallic cardstock and added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Across the front is a 1 x 4 piece of Whisper White cardstock, stamped with the greeting from Holly Berry Happiness in Memento Black Ink.  It is layered with a 1/4 x 4 piece of Gold Metallic cardstock along the bottom.
  • Two of the snowflakes from Colorful Season thinlits were cut from Gold Metallic cardstock and Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper (take the backing of the DD Glimmer first to make it easier to cut.)  They were adhered to the front.
  • Two of the lightest Glimmer Dots were placed in the center of the snowflakes.

OK…check out what the rest of the Design Team did with the Favorite Designer Paper theme on their cards by taking our Saturday Blog Hop! Next up is Create with Connie and Mary website to find out more about our August 2017 Mini Session.  We just OPENED yesterday and it’s not too late to join!  Or go backwards to visit Melissa Davies!

Wood Words Stamp Club gifts

As a little thank you for my Stamp Clubs and downline, I purchased these little coin purses that had various prints on them and a little leather tag that says Thailand with two elephants!  Inside I filled with some Thailand candies…sort of like Mentos here in the US.  SO cute!  I wrapped them up in a gusset cello bag with a little tag.  The Club members that attended last stamp club were able to pick the fabric color they wanted.

Here are the details:

  • I cut off the top of the 6 x 17 Gusset bag to make it a little shorter.
  • I tied closed with Berry Burst 1/2″ Woven Ribbon.
  • The tag is two of the new Everyday Label Punches put together…Whisper White and Lemon Lime Twist cardstocks.
  • The Whisper White tag is stamped with the floral image from Wood Words Stamp Set in Berry Burst Ink on one end, and Thank You in Memento Black.
  • They were adhere together, punched with the 1/8″ Circle Punch and tied with a bow.

Pretty simple, but I love packaging up little gifts to make them extra special and to let my customers and downline know how much I appreciate them!

Pocketful of Sunshine gifts

Before my trip to Thailand, I made up some little gifts to give a few people I knew were attending. The lotions/soaps varied, but each had this little tag attached using Pocketful of Sunshine.  (Sorry for the weird background…I didn’t remember to take a photo until the last one I left for our housekeeper.)

Here are the details:

  • The base tag is 2 x 4-1/2 Lemon Lime Twist cardstock and punched at the top with the Scallop Tag Topper Punch.
  • The sun is punched with the Starburst Punch from Daffodil Delight cardstock and stamped with the You Dazzle Me greeting from Pocketful of Sunshine in Memento Black Ink.
  • The sunglasses from Pocketful of Sunshine stamp set were stamped with Memento Black Ink on Berry Burst cardstock and cut with the Pocket Thinlits.  Two rhinestones were added to the sides of the glasses.
  • The tag was tied on the bottles with Berry Burst 1/2″ Finely Woven Ribbon and tied in a bow.

That’s it!  Loved handing these little gifts out in Thailand!

Oh, I’m having fun with the Spooky Cat punch!  It’s not just for Halloween!  But, here’s my first Halloween card of the season using it!

Here are the details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Basic Black cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
  • On top is a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Basic Gray cardstock, stamped in the bottom left corner with the image in Spooky Cat several times with Basic Gray Ink.
  • The fence from Garden Girl is stamped with Basic Gray Ink on Crumb Cake and hand-cut out and added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The Cat is punched from Basic Black cardstock and added above the fence.
  • The 2-1/4 moon was punched from So Saffron and sponged with So Saffron Ink.  The little stars are from Wood Words and stamped with Basic Gray Ink on the moon.  It is placed behind the cat on the front.
  • Happy Halloween from Spooky Cat was stamped with Basic Gray Ink.
  • The Black Striped ribbon from the Holiday Catalog is cut and the edges trimmed off.  It is stapled to the front with a length of Black Mini Sequins.

Saturday Blog Hop – Fun with Reinkers

It’s Saturday and time for the Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop! Our design team theme is featuring “Fun with Reinkers” for their cards this week.  I’m sure our Design Team will have some FABULOUS ideas this week…so many different technique from coloring to backgrounds.  What will they do?

I was SO happy to see Glossy Paper made it back into the Annual Catalog this year, but hadn’t had a chance to try out any of my old “standby” techniques with it yet!  Of course, first thing I thought of was Polished Stone background.  But then, what colors to use?  I decided to go with Crumb Cake and Soft Sky, thinking I’d do a water card, or something similar.  But…Daisy Delight was calling my name and decided to do some blue flowers!

Here are the details:

  • First I made the background.  I added a few drops of Crumb Cake and Soft Sky reinkers individually to the Silicone Sheet.  I used a paper towel (for the texture) and wet a 4 x 5-1/4 piece of Glossy cardstock with Rubbing Alcohol.
  • Next, I dabbed the wet paper towel in the Crumb Cake reinker and pounced on the wet Glossy cardstock, then did the same with the Soft Sky reinker.  Each time I make these I get a different look.  While I had the materials out, I usually try to do at least a full sheet of Glossy so I have backgrounds to use for future!  Let dry.
  • I cut a 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 sheet of Soft Sky cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded to form the base card.
  • I cut a 2-3/4 x 4 piece of the polished stone background and added to the bottom of a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Whisper White.
  • The seam is hidden with a length of 3/8″ Shimmer Pool Party Ribbon, adhered in the back.
  • The daisy from Daisy Delight stamp set was stamped with Soft Suede Ink on Soft Sky cardstock, then colored with a sponge dauber and Soft Sky Ink in the center.  Punched with the Daisy Punch and layered both together.
  • The center is Crushed Curry ink stamped on Crushed Curry cardstock, then hand-cut (or use a 1/2″ circle punch) and adhere to the center.
  • Two leaves were outlined with Soft Suede Ink, then filled in with Pear Pizzazz ink and hand cut.
  • The daisy and leaves were added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Thank You from the Daisy Delight stamp set was stamped with Soft Suede Ink above the daisy.
  • Finally, a yellow Glimmer Dot was added to the center.

Isn’t that PRETTY?  I think so!!!  OK…check out what the rest of the Design Team did with the reinker theme on their cards by taking our Saturday Blog Hop! Next up is Create with Connie and Mary website to find out more about our August 2017 Mini Session and then onto Mary Brown or go backwards to visit Melissa Davies!

Tax Free Days August 4-6!

There are several US states that have upcoming state sales tax holidays for school supplies.  What does that mean for you?  Some Stampin’ Up! products that fall under that category will be tax-free for a limited time if you live in one of those states!  Included are Arkansas, Florida, Louisiana, Missouri, New Mexico, Ohio, South Carolina, Texas and Virginia.

Refer to this PDF to see which states are offering the holiday and relevant information for each state including holiday dates, products that qualify, and dollar limits per item.  In Ohio, $20 per ITEM…not entire order…is the dollar limit!  So you could get 100 Snail refills because the price for each is less than $20.  Great time to stock up on adhesives, scissors, and embellishments.  (To follow the chart, read the description, then find the column with your state to see what items apply.)

You must place your order online at my Stampin’ Up! website during the tax holiday period in order to receive these items tax-free (midnight on the first day to midnight on the last day of the tax holiday).  Or email me with your order and I’ll take care of it for you!

Keep in mind that this is a state sales tax holiday and may not apply to additional county, city, and special jurisdiction taxes.

Have fun shopping!!  For quick reference, here is a list of Ohio’s supplies on August 4-6!

CCMC469 You’re Priceless

It’s Thursday and time for another Create with Connie and Mary Challenge.  We’re doing a color challenge this week with TWO of the new In Colors!

Here’s what I came up with using a new stamp set, You’re Priceless!  I love the gemstones in it and the fun greetings!  Watercolor wash backgrounds are SO popular right now, so I decided to use the Fresh Fig and Powder Pink inks in my background for a soft look under my gems.

Here are the details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Fresh Fig cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
  • On the 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Whisper White, I used an AquaPainter and the Fresh Fig and Powder Pink Ink Pads with lots of water to scribble the “washed” colors.  Let dry.
  • Stamp over the wash with the gemstones in Powder Pink and Fresh Fig inks at the top and bottom diagonally.
  • A 1/2 x 4 piece of Night of Navy cardstock was cut with flag ends and placed across the front, then a 1/4 x 4 piece of Powder Pink cardstock across the center to soften it.
  • You’re Brilliant was stamped with Night of Navy ink.
  • The diamond outline was cut from Dazzing Diamonds Glimmer Paper and the detail cut from Silver Glimmer Paper with the Eclectic Layers Thinits.  It is popped up on the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • A few Glimmer Dots are randomly placed on the background.

That’s it!  Make sure to check out what the rest of the Challenge Team did this week with the color challenge over on Create with Connie and Mary.  AND…check out our August 2017 Mini Session that is coming soon!  We have a BONUS project with purchase using the Carols of Christmas stamp set, available now to customers…that you will LOVE!

SUOC180 Birthday Memories

The theme this time on SUO Challenges is “Birthday”. Oh what to use???  So many great birthday sets.  I decided to use the Birthday Memories Designer Paper and Big on Birthdays greeting set on mine!  I love that they have some images you can cut out directly from the Designer Paper…cause I didn’t buy the stamp set!  lol!

Here are the details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Pacific Point cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
  • A 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Whisper White is place on top.
  • Across the right side is a 2 x 4-3/4 strip of the polka dot pattern in Birthday Memories DSP.
  • A 1 x 3 piece of Real Red is cut to a flag end.
  • Under that is a 1/4 x 4 strip of the stripe pattern in Birthday Memories DSP.
  • The little flag carrying fox was cut from the DSP, then stamped with the Big on Birthdays “It’s Your Day” greeting…I slightly curved it so it fit on the flag.  The image is popped up on the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

SUPER simple, but lots of fun!  Don’t forget to check out what the rest of the Design Team for SUO Challenges did this week with this theme! I’m sure they will have some great ideas!
