CCMC Saturday Blog Hop – Favorite Christmas Thinlit/Framelit

It’s Saturday and time for the Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop! Our design team theme is featuring “Favorite Christmas Framelit/Thinlit” this week.  OK…it is REALLY hard to choose JUST ONE from the fabulous Holiday Catalog!  But, I narrowed it down to one of the my first favorites, Hearts Come Home stamp set with the Hometown Greetings Edgelits.

I seem to be on a “simple” card design kick right now.  I love the white-on-white elements on this card, too!

Here are the details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Thick Whisper White, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
  • The Hearts Come Home greeting was inked with the Night of Navy and Real Red Stampin’ Write Markers and stamped in the lower right corner of the 3-3/4 x 5 layer of Whisper White.
  • A length of Silver Edged Ribbon was placed across the top of the layer and adhered in the back.
  • The largest oval from Layered Ovals cut the navy print in Naturally Eclectic Designer Paper…it thought it looked like a snowy background.
  • The section of the Whisper White Hometown Greetings Edgelit was adhere along the bottom of the oval.  It is popped up on the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The entire Whisper White layer was also popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals on the base card.

That’s it!!!  But that touch of silver sparkle is SO pretty against all the white!  I absolutely love this card!  And so easy to mass produce for your holiday card!

Make sure to check out what the Design Team did with the challenge this week! Next up is our Create with Connie and Mary website to find out more about our November Mini Session that is NOW OPEN, then onto Mary Brown or go backwards to visit Melissa Davies!

CCMC485 Hug in a Mug

Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate in the US!  I have a house full of people for dinner…love it!  It was a little more challenging this year as we moved into our new home and it doesn’t have a formal dining room.  But…even though we are a little more spread out, it is still a wonderful time to gather and give thanks!  It is also my younger son’s birthday…Happy 32nd Birthday, Ross!

It’s also time for another Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge.  A fun and bright color combination for you to try this week!

My card could be used for many different reasons.  Get well, or thinking of you!  I love the little Hug in a Mug stamp set…so many fun little pieces to pick and choose!

Here are the details:

  • Cut a 4-1/4 x 11 piece of Old Olive cardstock, score at 5-1/2 and fold to form base card.
  • Add a 1-1/4 strip of the Old Olive stripe in Merry Little Christmas Designer Paper to the left side of a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Whisper White.
  • Add a 1/4 x 5-1/4 piece of Silver Glimmer Paper to hide the seam.
  • Stamp the bowl/mug with Memento Black in the lower right corner, add Bermuda Bay Ink for the inside.  Also add the little stripe with Memento Black Ink on top.  Stamp the steam in Old Olive Ink and the Heart with Berry Burst Ink over it.
  • The greeting is stamped with Berry Burst Ink and the little sparkles with Bermuda Bay Ink.
  • The spoon was stamped with Memento Black Ink on Smoky Slate and cut out, then popped up under the bowl/mug.

That’s it!!!  Super CAS design!  Make sure to go to our Create with Connie and Mary website to check out what the rest of the Challenge Team did this week…lots of great inspiration!

SUOC188 Snowflake Sentiments

The theme this time on SUO Challenges is “any winter holiday card”.  Now…I know you are looking at this and saying “Wow!  That is BRIGHT!”  And…it is!  But, I thought it was sort of whimsical and really non-traditional for a snowflake card so I went with it!

Here are the details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Thick Whisper White cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
  • A 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Whisper White was stamped randomly with the snowflakes in Snowflake Sentiments with Versarmark Ink.  Then Lemon Lime Twist and Bermuda Bay Inks were sponged on top.  You can see the faint snowflakes in the background under the ink!
  • The snowflakes were stamped on scrap Whisper White and cut with the Stitched Shapes circles in different sizes.
  • The greeting was stamped with Memento Black Ink on Whisper White, then cut with the Oval Stitched Shape.  They were all placed on the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The flourishes and small snowflake were cut from Silver Glimmer Paper with the Swirly Snowflake Thinlit Dies and tucked under the circles and by the oval.
  • Some Rhinestone Jewels were added to the centers of the snowflakes.

How’s that for a very non-traditional holiday card?  Don’t forget to check out what the rest of the Design Team for SUO Challenges did this week with this theme! I’m sure they will have some great ideas!

CCMC484 Seasonal Bells

Today we have a fun sketch challenge over on Create with Connie and Mary!  I finished my card up late and was so surprised that no one else had used snowflakes on their card!  It was what I first thought about when I saw the sketch!  So glad this turned out like it did in my head!

Here’s my card:

Here are the details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Thick Whisper White, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
  • On top is the gold check pattern in Year of Cheer Specialty Designer Paper cut to 4 x 5-1/4.
  • All four corners of the 3 x 4-1/4 piece of Whisper White cardstock were rounded with the Corner Rounder and placed on top.
  • A 1-3/4 x 3-1/2 piece of Gold Metallic Paper was cut with a flag end and added on top of the Whisper White.
  • A 1 x 5 strip of Gold Glimmer Paper was added.
  • Three snowflakes were cut from Whisper White with the Seasonal Layers Framelits and added on top with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Gold Faceted Gems were added in the center of each snowflake.
  • The banner Happy Christmas was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink on Whisper White and hand-cut, then added on top with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE how this turned out!  Make sure to check out the rest of the Challenge Team’s creations over on Create with Connie and Mary…they are all so different!  AND…check out our November Mini Session that just opened!

Labels to Love

While out shopping, I saw a beautiful winter white monochromatic wreath!  It was gorgeous!  I figured I could recreate a smaller version on paper and here’s what I came up with.  Can you tell what color the background is?  It really changed once ink was applied!

Here are the details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Thick Very Vanilla, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
  • The 4 x 5-1/4 layer of CAJUN CRAZE was embossed with the Pinewood Planks embossing folder, then White Craft Ink was applied with the ink pad on top.
  • A 2″ circle was stamped with the greeting from Labels to Love in Cajun Craze Ink and added to the card.
  • The leaves were punched from Very Vanilla cardstock many times with the Leaf Punch.
  • The punched leaves were arranged around the circle and adhered with Mini Glue Dots.
  • Some 1/4″ circles were punched from Gold Glimmer paper and added to the wreath for berries.
  • The Gold Edge Very Vanilla Ribbon was tied in a bow and added to the side of the wreath with a Mini Glue Dot.

So…what do you think?  VERY elegant looking in person!

CCMC Saturday Blog Hop – Beauty of Fall

It’s Saturday and time for the Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop! Our design team theme is featuring “Beauty of Fall” this week.  I think the Painted Autumn Designer Paper that Stampin’ Up! offered this year is just FULL of the beautiful fall colors!  I prefer to see the leaves with a touch of green still on them, along with the vibrant red, gold, orange and yellow colors.  I also like using our Large Letter Alphabet and omitting one of the letters in the word with an image like I did here.

Here are the details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Lemon Lime Twist cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
  • On the 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Whisper White, a 1-3/4 x 5-1/4 piece of Painted Autumn Designer Paper was placed across the bottom.
  • Some Lemon Lime Twist Ombre Ribbon covers the seam and is adhered in the back.
  • The F-L-L letters were cut from Chocolate Chip cardstock and adhered on front.
  • The pumpkin (back) from Seasonal Chums was colored with Pumpkin Pie, Bronze and Old Olive Stampin’ Blends, cut with the Seasonal Tags Thinlits, then added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

So, very easy, but I love how it turned out! Make sure to check out what the Design Team did with the challenge this week! Next up is our Create with Connie and Mary website to find out more about our November Mini Session that is NOW OPEN, then onto Mary Brown or go backwards to visit Melissa Davies!

Carols of Christmas

I made this card when I first received my Carols of Christmas order, but haven’t shown it here.  It was one of the “runner-up” ideas for my Stamp Club a couple months ago.  It was definitely inspired by something I saw online!

Here are the details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Real Red cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
  • The 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Very Vanilla cardstock was cut with the Card Front Builder Dies.  Love how the base color peeks thru the edges!
  • The Gold Trim Ribbon was wrapped around the Very Vanilla, tied in a bow and added to the base card.
  • Two of the trees in the Card Front Builder Dies were cut from Gold Glimmer Paper and added to the left side.
  • The greeting from Carols of Christmas was stamped with Soft Suede ink on scrap Whisper White and cut with the large Stitched Shape Circle.  It was adhered to the large Scallop circle in the Layering Circles framelits.  It is popped up on the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Lots of elegance with the Red/Vanilla/Gold colors!

CCMC483 Christmas Quilt

It’s Thursday and time for another Create with Connie and Mary challenge.  It’s a beautiful color combination this week!  I decided to use the Christmas Quilt Bundle on mine…because I love these colors for winter!

My original thought was to use snowflakes in the background.  But, I actually went with the flower that is in the stamp set!  So if you change out the greeting, it could actually be used for ANYTHING!

Here are the details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Powder Pink cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
  • The front of the base card was stamped with Powder Pink Ink randomly using the flower image in Christmas Quilt.
  • A 2-1/4 x 5-1/2 strip of Pool Party cardstock was embossed with the Quilt Top Embossing folder, then I used the back side on my card.
  • A 1/4 x 5-1/2 strip of Night of Navy cardstock was added across the Pool Party piece.
  • The quilt piece was cut from Night of Navy, Powder Pink and Pool Party cardstocks with the Quilt Builder Framelit Dies.  (I have multiple pieces left to make up more cards!)
  • I cut a 3-1/4 x 3-1/4 piece of Whisper White for the base and used the Night of Navy frame, then added the Pool Party and Powder Pink pieces inside.
  • The flower was stamped with Powder Pink Ink on scrap Whisper White cardstock and cut with the Framelit and added to the center of the quilt with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Some Night of Navy gingham ribbon was tied in a knot and added to the center with Mini Glue Dots.
  • Peace was stamped with Night of Navy Ink on a 1/2 x 3 piece of Whisper White and tucked under the flower.

I love it!  Can’t wait to make up the remaining pieces I have into cards!  Stay tuned for more!  Don’t forget to check out what the rest of our Challenge Team did with this color combination over on Create with Connie and Mary!

And…speaking of MORE!  Our Create with Connie and Mary November Mini Session will open this weekend!  Don’t miss out!  A couple great craft show projects!

You’re Priceless

My studio is finally finished at the new house and the cabinets are completely installed.  Well, to be honest, I still have a couple boxes sitting here to unload, but I have been working in it a few weeks now and am getting used to the layout and where I’ve put everything.  One thing I did was put my stamp set cases in drawers next to me.  One drawer holds all the current Annual Catalog stamp sets…and the one below holds the Holiday Catalog…along with the current embellishments.  Since the Holiday Catalog came out, I’ve been pretty much ignoring the Annual catalog.  My goal was to start using them again…along with the Designer Paper I’ve been hoarding.  I LOVE the gemstone paper in Naturally Eclectic…and finally cut into it for this card!  Of course, I had to get the You’re Priceless stamp set that went along with it!

Here are the details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Tranquil Tide cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
  • On the 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Whisper White, the gemstone image was stamped randomly with Soft Sky Ink across the top half.  Then a 2-1/2 x 4 piece of Naturally Eclectic DSP was added to the bottom.
  • A piece of Island Indigo Ombre Ribbon hides the seam (and looks more like Tranquil Tide, don’t you think?)
  • The greeting from You’re Priceless was stamped with Night of Navy Ink on Soft Sky cardstock, then punched with the Everyday Label Punch.  It was added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Two gem backgrounds were stamped in Lemon Lime Twist and Tranquil Tide Inks, then on top with Night of Navy Ink for the outline image.  They were cut out by hand and added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The gemstones were colored with a little Wink of Stella to make them shimmer!

This would be a fun and easy Make & Take to do!  I know exactly who I’m sending this to!  Know what else is FUN…the Create with Connie and Mary Mini Session!  It is full of card ideas, a home decor project and craft fair idea!  You’ll LOVE it.  We open on the 11th!  So don’t forget to sign up!

The brand new NOVEMBER Mini Session is COMING SOON! We are featuring products from the HOLIDAY Catalog! Check out the FREE Be Merry Kit Bonus project when you purchase October & November together!

SUOC187 Flourishing Phrases

The theme this time on SUO Challenges is “and we Give Thanks”…any type of thank you card.  I have SO many blessings that they are hard to count!  I wanted to throw back to a stamp set I haven’t used in a while (since the new holiday catalog came out!), Flourishing Phrases.  I combined it with the new Stampin’ Blends Alcohol Markers.  SO much fun to color!  I’ve been on a quick and simple kick, too.  This one came together VERY quickly!

Here are the details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Calypso Coral cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
  • On top is a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Basic Black cardstock.
  • On the 3-7/8 x 5-1/8 layer of Whisper White, the flourish from Flourishing Phrases was stamped with Memento Black Ink.  It was colored with the Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight and Old Olive Stampin’ Blends Markers.
  • The greeting also from Flourishing Phrases and stamped in Memento Black Ink, too.
  • A bow was tied from Crushed Curry Baker’s Twine and added to the stem with a Mini Glue Dot.

VERY simple, but the alcohol blending really makes the flourish pop!  Don’t forget to check out what the rest of the Design Team for SUO Challenges did this week with this theme! I’m sure they will have some great ideas!
