Totally Tools Tool Chest

Yeah!  I get to stamp today!  I have the whole day set aside…well, I may run to the store real quick, too.  I’m also going to need to spend some time photographing cards!  I’m running out of photos to show you!  I know I’ve spent a lot of time creating them, just not the details of photographing!

I haven’t shared this with you before.  I sent it in for a Stampin’ Up! monthly contest, but didn’t win…bummer!  I’m disappointed because I thought it was very original.  However, you just never know what competition you are facing when you send things in!

I made the little manly tool chest from two #2 Boxes die cuts from Real Red cardstock and adhered them together on top of each other.  I ran the Brushed Silver cardstock thru the Big Shot with the diamond pattern Texturz plate and covered the front and back.  I added small strips of black folded in half for the long drawer handles on the front.  The sides, I took a silver  Small Grommet and cut it in half, then placed it in the Basic Black cardstock along each side.  I watercolored the tools and cut them out, randomly adhering them inside the tool box.  I used an elongated Word Window for the words.  You can’t see from these pictures, but the bottom has four Silver Jumbo Brads for the "feet".

Unfortunately, I sent the only one I had in for the contest, so I don’t have the measurements or anything.  Leave me a comment and tell me what YOU think about this project!!!  I thought it looked pretty realistic!

Reminder that the Control Freaks Tour de Freaks Blog Hop is coming up on August 20th!  Mark your calendar so you can tour the 13 Blogs on that day!  I know I always get AWESOME inspiration from these gals.  I was happy that I got to meet up with several of them at Convention this year!  Fun to put faces with names!

Totally Tool

Wow…I am LATE posting today.  No excuse, other than I’ve been trying to clean off the PILES of paper on my desk!  I know they multiply overnight…like rabbits!  lol!

Here is a card my Technique Class did last night.  The Technique is called Faux Rattan.  It was a collaborative effort from several of my stamping idols…Mary Brown for part of the layout, Kimberly Van Diepen for the other part, Sharon Field for the Rattan Technique.  I took pieces of all of their cards to make mine.  Thank you to all of them!  This is also my Dad’s birthday card which was yesterday!  Happy Birthday, Dad!

I started with a base of Baja Breeze cardstock.  The Creamy Caramel layer (Faux Rattan) I ran thru the Big Shot with the Texturz Weave Plate.  I used Creamy Caramel direct to paper, then ran it through the Big Shot again and used Close to Cocoa direct to paper.  Love the look this gives it…actually like rattan!  I stamped the Measuring Tape from Totally Tools with Basic Brown on Naturals Ivory and colored with a blender pen and ink pad.  I used the Original definition from Define Your Life on the large, punched 1-3/4 circle, stamped with Creamy Caramel on Creamy Caramel for a very subtle look, then stamped Father from Wonderful Favorites stamp set in Basic Brown on Naturals Ivory and popped it up over the Original Definition.  I used the 1/2 circle punch with Chocolate Chip cardstock on the Baja Breeze strip.

Hope you had a wonderful day!  I hope to get to stamp tomorrow after I finish up the paperwork tonight (I was REALLY behind!).  Stay tuned for my June Card Kit…hopefully tomorrow!

Totally Tools

This is a card I made for one of my swap groups.  Since everyone just received their cards back, I’d say it is safe to post now!  Sorry that the picture is so wonky…I forgot to take a picture before I sent it and didn’t even make an extra for my collection!  I was in a rush to get them in the mail before I left for Kansas City last week!  The swap hostess was kind enough to scan it for me.

I wanted to give the impression of wood in the background, so I used the Texturz Plate Kit #4 with Close to Cocoa cardstock and ran it through my Big Shot.  Then I used my White Craft Pad and ran it across the ridges to add highlights.  I think it is pretty realistic looking!

I also used the Juntos Designer Paper only available in the Spanish catalog!  I love that it has some earthy colors in it…Always Artichoke, More Mustard, Really Rust…more manly colors!  The base of the card is Always Artichoke with a layer of the textured Close to Cocoa paper I made.  Then I added the designer paper to the left side and hid the seam with 5/8 Chocolate Chip ribbon.

The hammer (from Totally Tools stamp set) and words were inked with Versamark and then Chocolate Chip, stamped on Naturals Ivory cardstock and embossed with Clear Embossing Powder.  I then used the Ink Wash technique to color in the hammer…I like how it is softer than coloring in directly with my markers.  I sponged the edges with Chocolate Chip for definition, then layered it on an extra wide piece of Mellow Moss and Chocolate Chip.  That gave me room to add the three Antique Brass mini brads on the right side (like nails…get it?)  lol!

Totally Tools and Juntos Designer Paper are featured in my March Card Kit!  I’ll start making up kits on Monday…I’ll extend the sign up until then…so get your order in!
