Tree Trimmings

I fell in love with Lee Conrey's crimped background, so had to make one for myself.  I was so excited that I taught this at my Technique Class last night!  It was definitely well received!

You do need a lighter weight cardstock to get the best effect, so Whisper White worked perfectly!  I also have an idea for a Very Vanilla card that I may try out today.

I started with a base of Real Red and added a layer of Soft Suede cardstock.  I did the Crimper Technique with Whisper White, then trimmed it down to fit with the Soft Suede mat.  I felt it needed trimming because the crimping will stretch out the cardstock a little bit.

For the focal piece, I stamped Stampin' Up!'s Tree Trimming stamp in Versamark on Whisper White cardstock, then embossed with Gold Embossing Powder.  I layered it on Brushed Gold cardstock.  Finally, I added a Real Red 1/4 Grosgrain bow to the top.

I love all the texture that this background has!  So much fun!

If you are in the Columbus, Ohio area, make sure to sign up for my Punch Class next Wednesday, 11/11 @ 6:30 PM.  I have three FUN punch art characters just in the time for holidays!  You won't want to miss it!

Stamping 411 – Sketch 116

Well, this is going to be REAL quick!  I’m trying to get out of here to head for the Cincinnati Regionals (Friday…I’m preposting).  I get to meet up with some people I only get to see at Convention and Leadership, so that makes me happy!

Selene did another great job with the sketch this week.  Not too hard, not too easy (sometimes those easy ones are the hardest to do, in my opinion!)

I started with the set, Tree Trimmings, that we got as part of our Convention packet!  I like the various sized ornaments in this set.  I stamped it on Very Vanilla with Versamark and embossed it with Gold EP.  I layered it on Soft Suede and Brushed Gold cardstocks.  (I love the combo of Soft Suede and Very Vanilla…so rich looking!)  I added a layer of Very Vanilla behind it and stamped the message from the Christmas set Many Merry Messages in Soft Suede.  The layer of Soft Suede was embossed with the pretty embossing folder, Plenty of Petals.  I layered that on Brushed Gold again, and finally the base card of Very Vanilla.  Now, the part I’m not sure shows up real well is the Pretties flower.  I smashed it into Versamark and embossed it with Gold EP, too.  Then added a Very Vanilla half pearl in the center.  It looks shinier in the picture than it really is…

OK…got to run!  Have a great weekend and don’t forget to play along with the Stamping 411 Operators!  Upload your card to your Blog or Gallery, then link the direct post to our Blog thru Mr. Linky!
