Do you ever have an oops?  You meant to use one set, but used another?  When I made this card for this week's Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge, I knew we'd be working with flower and nature sets this week for our Summer Collection.  I THOUGHT I grabbed Flower Shop…but I grabbed Secret Garden instead.  OOPS!!!  Well, once it was done, I wasn't going to change it!  lol!  But, it would be easy enough to change out to use Flower Shop..so let's pretend, ok? 

 

We have a fun color challenge for you this week over on Create with Connie and Mary…grab your stamps and play along!

 

So, here is my Secret Garden card.  I also used a little green…my flowers needed leaves, you know!  And, actually, I was inspired by the designer paper…I think my flowers look like the tiny flower print in the DSP!

 

 

Here are the details:

  1. The base of the card is Daffodil Delight, 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, folded in half to make base card.
  2. The White layer is 4 x 5 1/4, and across the bottom I placed the 2" x 5 1/4" strip of Garden Gingham DSP.  I added a 1/2" strip of the gingham pattern to hide the seam.
  3. I ran that layer thru the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dots folder.  I love how the bottom looks like that swiss dot fabric or pindot fabric…wonder if you can still buy that, or am I showing my age?  lol!
  4. I stamped the flowers with Daffodil Delight, Melon Mambo and Night of Navy on Whisper White and cut with the Secret Garden framelits.  I stamped the leaves with Pear Pizzazz and cut them, too, then added them under the flowers.
  5. I stamped the greeting from Really Good Greetings in Night of Navy on Whisper White and punched with the 1 3/4" Circle Punch and added it to the front.
  6. Each of the flowers has a rhinestone jewel in the center, too, as well as one in the exclamation point of the greeting!

Secret Garden

I love the color combination of yellow and black.  I decided to use Secret Garden and make up a Daffodil Delight and Basic Black flower card!

 

 

Here are the details:

  1. The base is 4 1/4 x 11 Basic Black, folded in half.
  2. I cut a 4 x 5 1/4 piece of Whisper White and stamped the large flower from Secret Garden with Black Stazon and then filled in with the small flower of Daffodil Delight.
  3. I added a 1 x 4 piece of Daffodil Delight Polka Dot Parade Designer Paper across the top, then wrapped the 3/8" Basic Black Taffeta Ribbon around and tied with a knot (this ribbon is retiring!!!)
  4. I stamped the greeting from Petite Pairs with Black Stazon on Daffodil Delight, then cut with the Hearts a Flutter Framelit.  I also cut the banner from that Framelit set from Basic Black.  Both were tucked under the DSP and ribbon.

 

Quick and easy card to pull together and you could use any color combination!  Don't you think the colors POP?  Enjoy!

SUOC68 Secret Garden

We have a FUN challenge for you on SUO Challenges…create with a Monochromatic look!  I don't think I've ever set out just to make a Monochromatic card!  Yesterday's French Foliage card was monochromatic and green, too!  I must be on a kick with green (maybe because we aren't seeing a lot of green around in Ohio yet!  I know…I keep whining about wanting SPRING to get here!  lol!)

 

But…here's my take on a monochromatic look.

 

 

Here are the details:

  1. Base is 4 1/4 x 11 Whisper White, folded in half.
  2. Layer is 3 3/4 x 5 Lucky Limeade cardstock, stamp 3 Secret Garden leaves with Lucky Limeade Ink on the front, stems together.
  3. Cut 3 small flowers from Vellum Cardstock with the Secret Garden Framelits.
  4. Punch three 1/2" Circles from Lucky Limeade Patterns Designer Paper and add to center of flowers.
  5. Add Pearls to Centers.
  6. Stamp Here's To You from Friendly Phrases (oops!  thanks for catching that!) in Lucky Limeade on Whisper White, punch with Ticket Duo Punch.
  7. Tie Whisper White Taffeta Ribbon in a bow, add to front with Mini Glue Dot.

Clean and classy, huh?  I think it fits the monochromatic theme pretty good!!!

CCMC246 Secret Garden

Wow…these colors tricked me up a little!  I think it was the Island Indigo in there when I wanted to go floral and didn't have a green.  I knew I wanted to use the Sent with Love Designer Paper, too.  Originally, my thought was to use the coordinating Sent with Love stamp set…but the Secret Garden florals won out in my head (AND a couple of the other designers went with that set, so I'm glad I went with my second inclination!  lol!)

 

So…here is my creation using Secret Garden!

 

 

And, here are the details:

  1. The base 4 1/4 x 11 Real Red is folded in half to form the base card, the bottom I used the Corner Rounder Punch.
  2. I added a 4 x 5 1/4 piece of Whisper White and also rounded the bottom corners.
  3. I used a 2 1/4 x 5 piece of Sent with Love Designer Paper and cut the bottom with a flag end.
  4. I cut another 1 x 4 piece of coordinating Sent with Love Designer Paper and layered it on a piece of 1 1/2 x 4 Calypso Coral cardstock that I cut with the Finishing Touches Edgelits along the top and bottom.
  5. I wrapped around some Cherry Cobbler Baker's Twine and tied a bow before adhering it to the top of the card.
  6. I stamped the carnation flower twice with Island Indigo Ink on Real Red cardstock, cut one out with the Framelits and then cut out the center piece by hand, then layered it on top.  I slighted ruffled the edges.
  7. Next I stamped the lily image with Island Indigo on Calypso Coral and cut with the Framelit.  I also stamped the leaves with Island Indigo on Whisper White and cut with that Framelit.
  8. I layered them all together on the front, the red carnation one is popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals.
  9. Finally, I thought the centers needed a little something, so I added a trio of Pearls to each.

 

I thought this was fun to combine the "masculine" feel of that DSP with the feminine flowers…and I think it works.  What do you think?

Yeah!!!  I have my SPRING look back on my blog!  I was getting tired of seeing the snowflakes.  AND…I'm hoping it encourages Spring to get here in Ohio!  And, it's Thursday!!!  Time for another Create with Connie and Mary challenge.  We have a beautiful color challenge for you today.  I have always wanted to do my bedroom in these colors…so crisp, clean and cool looking!  Come play along with us!!!

 

 

And here's my take on it.  The daisies and leaves in Secret Garden are showed off with these colors!

 

 

Here are the details:

  1. 4 1/4 x 11 Whisper White, folded in half to form the base card.
  2. A 2 x 5 1/2 piece of Marina Mist Polka Dot Patterns was placed along the right side, then a 1" x 5" of the reverse Polka Dot Pattern placed on top. 
  3. I wrapped the Whisper White Baker's Twine around the smaller piece and tied a bow!
  4. Then I stamped 3 of the daisies in Secret Garden with Daffodil Delight ink and cut with the framelits.  Then I stamped two of the leaves with Not Quite Navy and cut them.
  5. I added them to the front with Stampin' Dimensionals and Pearls in the centers.
  6. Finally, the greeting from Petite Pairs was stamped with Not Quite Navy.

Secret Garden

Today we have a BRIGHT, colorful color challenge for you to try over on Create with Connie and Mary!  Hopefully it will put you in a SPRING mood…although we got dumped on with 6-7 inches of snow yesterday!  This weekend it is supposed to be in the 50s!  Ohio weather for you!!! 

 

 

And here is my bright and colorful card using Secret Garden and the framelits…LOVE that bundle!  I admit that I had to use a splash of green for the leaves…they looked naked without them!  lol!

 

 

Here are the details:

  1. Base is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 Very Vanilla, folded in half to make the base card.
  2. I added a 5 x 3 3/4 layer of Print Poetry Designer Stack Paper in the polka dot print.
  3. Next is a 1 1/4 x 5 1/4" strip of Summer Starfruit cardstock, stamped with the You Are Simply Wonderful greeting from Friendly Phrases with Raspberry Ripple Ink.
  4. I stamped two flowers with Raspberry Ripple Ink on Primrose Petals cardstock, then stamped again with Raspberry Ripple ink on Raspberry Ripple cardstock for the centers.  I used the Framelits for the large flowers and hand-cut the centers to place over them.  I also stamped the 5 petal flower with Always Artichoke Ink on Lucky Limeade cardstock and cut with the Framelits for the leaves, then cut two petals off for each flower.  They were popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals and placed on the front.
  5. I added pearls to the centers of the flowers (I see one got lost before the photo!  lol!)

Secret Garden

I love today's sketch over on SCS (SC422), so I grabbed my stamps and played along!  I was pretty set on what I was going to do, although the straight lines in the background of the sketch became "skewed" on my card…more like this week's Create with Connie and Mary sketch!  I took creative license!  lol!

 

 

Here is my card using the Spring Mini set, Secret Garden, and the matching framelits!  I think this one flower looks like a daffodil!  I am certainly anxious to see the real ones around here…soon, I hope!

 

 

Here are the details:

  1. 4 1/4 x 11 Whisper White, folded in half to make base card.
  2. 3 x 4 1/4 piece of Lucky Limeade cardstock and 2 3/4 x 4 chevron striped paper from Summer Smooches Designer Paper and layered crossways in the background.
  3. I stamped the large flower in Secret Garden twice with Early Espresso Ink on Daffodil Delight and the center portion only twice on Pumpkin Pie.  I also stamped the leaves with Always Artichoke Ink on Whisper White.
  4. I cut out the two Daffodil Delight flowers with the Secret Garden Framelit, then handcut the centers out of the Pumpkin Pie ones and also cut out the leaves with the matching framelit.
  5. I layered the two Pumpkin Pie centers together and adhered to the center of one of the Daffodil Delight flowers.  With the other Daffodil Delight flower, I cut up the petals separately and adhered them over top of the first Daffodil delight flower, tucking the edge under the Pumpkin Pie centers.
  6. I used a Pumpkin Pie Mini Brad to hold all the layers together and adhered with Stampin' Dimensionals on the front of the base card, along with tucking the leaves behind the flower.
  7. The Sweet Essentials greeting is stamped with Early Espresso on a 1/2" strip of Whisper White, cut with a flag end and tucked under the Daffodil flower.
