Bloggers Challenge – 94 Technique

April 10, 2009 By Connie | 18 Comments

Today’s challenge was any Technique!  Well, Lisa, our List Mom, knows how much I like techniques.  I was on the Technique Junkies Newsletter Design Team for six years!  I also have been teaching Technique Classes each month for the past four years…that’s a LOT of techniques!  My trouble was narrowing down my options!

Actually, it wasn’t that hard.  I taught this technique, Reinker Splash, in my class this week.  With the extra samples I made to show them variations, I had plenty to make up this card.

I started with my reinkers…I used Pretty in Pink, Cameo Coral and Mellow Moss.  The Glossy paper absorbs these quickly.  I used a panel of it for the background and matted it on Cameo Coral.  Then wrapped some of the new Striped Organza ribbon around it towards the bottom.  The base card is Pretty in Pink with a Mellow Moss layer over it.  I used some more of the Reinker Splash paper and cut out three Cherry Blossom Embossed Diecuts (Stampin’ Up carries these and they are FUN!) …then I sanded the embossed edges to give them some depth and popped them up at different levels with dimensionals.  Finally, I added some Cameo Coral centers and accents with my 1/4 circle punch.  There is hardly any actual stamping on this, except for the greeting from Garden Greetings that I stamped in Basic Black on Glossy White and punched with the Wide Oval punch.  I used my Leaf Sizzlet (also Stampin’ Up!) cut from Mellow Moss to place behind the Cherry Blossoms.

This was a fun technique…one from the Newsletter that I hadn’t done before!

Hope you have a wonderful Easter weekend.  I’m cooking for my family and my in-laws, so I’ll probably be busy over the weekend doing that.  I also have a HUGE deadline coming up by next Wednesday and hopefully can squeeze some time to work on that this weekend!

Set:  Garden Greetings
C/S:  Pretty in Pink, Cameo Coral, Mellow Moss, Glossy White
Inks:  Basic Black, (Cameo Coral, Pretty in Pink, Mellow Moss reinkers)
Other:  Wide Oval punch, Cherry Blossom Embossing sizzlet, Leaf Sizzlet, 1/4 circle punch

I love stamping cards, altering 3D items and making little favors. I've been stamping for over 19 years and had my 18th year Stampin' Up! anniversary in early May. I love being part of something that sparks my creativity and hear people comment, "you MADE this?" I also enjoy sharing that passion with others in my classes! If you live anywhere in the Delaware, Dublin, Powell, Lewis Center, Hilliard or surrounding Columbus, Ohio areas, join us! I love to meet new stamping friends. Email me for a current class schedule... I'm adding new classes all the time!
