Bloggers Challenge – Summer

June 5, 2009 By Connie | 12 Comments

NOW AVAILABLE – JUNE CARD KIT

Ahhhh, Summer!  Well, it has felt more like Fall here…low 70s and no humidity!  But I know those HOT temperatures are just around the corner!

Today’s Bloggers Challenge was the theme Summer.  I thought of many things I love about summer…the beach and relaxing being two of my favorite summer activities.

I love this Just Beachy set in the Occasions Mini…I know…I say that about a lot of sets.  I guess that is why I buy them!  The little fishes just scream SUMMER to me!  When I was a little girl, my parents would take us to Lake Louise in Illinois (wonder if it is still there????)  The little fishes would nibble at you while you were playing in the water.  I remember riding in the car on the way home, sleepy and sunburned.  What a great way to RELAX!  Relax is from the other fun set in the Occasions Mini, And Many Mower!

I started with a base card of Whisper White and layered on Not Quite Navy.  On top of that I layered the Baja Breeze Patterns Designer Paper (It is out of stock, now, but a lot of other great DSPs are still available!)  I used a scrap piece of Whisper White and the Scallop Edge Punch to create a mask for my water.  I laid the mask down on another piece of Whisper White and used my sponge dauber and Baja Breeze ink to make "waves"…moving the mask down the paper as I colored.  When finished, I used the Scallop Edge punch across the top.  Then I stamped the little fishes in Basic Black and colored them with markers and my AquaPainter.  I layered that piece on Not Quite Navy.  Relax, from And Many Mower, I stamped in Basic Black on Whisper White and layered it on Not Quite Navy.  The sun was stamped in Basic Black on Yo Yo Yellow and cut out.  Finally, I stamped the highlighted fish in Basic Black on Whisper White and punched with my 1 1/4 circle, then layered it on 1 3/8 Circle punched from Baja Breeze.  I popped up the sun and fish circle with dimensionals.

I liked how the card turned out and it definitely says SUMMER to me!  I hope you have a great weekend.  Check back tomorrow for the Stamping 411 sketch challenge!

And don’t forget to email me your order for Last Chance stamp sets and accessories (while supplies last) AND the Occasions Mini Catalog!  These are only available until June 30th  And Many Mower and Just Beachy are NOT in the new catalog…so get them NOW!

I love stamping cards, altering 3D items and making little favors. I've been stamping for over 19 years and had my 18th year Stampin' Up! anniversary in early May. I love being part of something that sparks my creativity and hear people comment, "you MADE this?" I also enjoy sharing that passion with others in my classes! If you live anywhere in the Delaware, Dublin, Powell, Lewis Center, Hilliard or surrounding Columbus, Ohio areas, join us! I love to meet new stamping friends. Email me for a current class schedule... I'm adding new classes all the time!

I love those fishies, Connie! Especially the pirahna! Great card! I’m not sure I”d want to swim in those waters, though….

How fun, that sentiment is perfect for this, made me laugh out loud. Can’t believe neither of these made the new catalog. I love them both!
