Manhattan Flower Impressions Folder

April 13, 2009 By Connie | 16 Comments

As I mentioned yesterday, my parents 50th Wedding Anniversary was yesterday, along with Easter!  They went to church wearing pretty yellow rose corsages for the occasion…they looked so nice!  Can you believe I forgot to take a picture!!!  I’m so mad at myself.  I was worrying about getting food prepared and served and didn’t even think about it.  Oh well…we are getting together for dinner in a couple weeks when my oldest is in town, I’ll have to get it then.

Here is the card that I made for their 50th anniversary.  I started with a 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 piece of Whisper White Base cardstock, and layered on Basic Black.  Then I ran the next layer, Brushed Gold, thru the Manhattan Flower Textured Embossing Folder.  Of course, the cardstock was larger than the folder, but I centered the folder so the flowers would be at towards the top left corner.  Then I used the White Taffeta ribbon to hide the crease from the edge of the folder.  Together Forever was stamped in Versamark on scrap Brushed Gold, and I used Detail Black Embossing Powder, heat set, and punched it with the new Scallop Oval punch and layered it onto Basic Black Wide Oval punch.

I needed to balance the weight from the front of the card, so I added a strip of Brushed Gold inside and used the Scallop Edge punch along one side.  Then I added a 1/4 strip of Basic Black over the scallop piece.  I stamped the large flower from Fifth Avenue Floral (I love that these coordinate together so perfectly!) in Metallic Gold ink and the smaller flower in Basic Black.  Then stamped Happy Anniversary (a retired stamp from one of the All Year Cheer sets).  I would have sworn I purchased a 50th anniversary stamp, but couldn’t find it anywhere.

I also decorated the outside of the envelope with the Fifth Avenue Floral stamps, too.  They loved the card!

TIP for today:  When using the Manhattan Impressions Folder in your Big Shot.  Use the Multipurpose platform with BOTH tabs open.  It will prevent the cardstock from warping since there is so much dry embossing on it!

Set:  Fifth Avenue Floral, Together Forever, Happy Anniversary (retired)
C/S:  Brushed Gold, Whisper White, Basic Black
Inks:  Versamark, Basic Black, Metallic Gold
Other:  Scallop Oval Punch, Wide Oval Punch, White Taffeta Ribbon, Manhattan Impressions Folder, Scallop Edge punch

I love stamping cards, altering 3D items and making little favors. I've been stamping for over 20 years and will have my 19th year Stampin' Up! anniversary in early May. I love being part of something that sparks my creativity and hear people comment, "you MADE this?" I also enjoy sharing that passion with others in my classes! If you live anywhere in the Delaware, Dublin, Powell, Lewis Center, Hilliard or surrounding Columbus, Ohio areas, join us! I love to meet new stamping friends. Email me for a current class schedule... I'm adding new classes all the time!

Connie, you always do such beautiful work but this card is absolutely fabulous!!! I am so hooked on the Manhattan Flower embossing folder…what a great idea to use it with the gold c/s. My parents have an anniversary coming up in August….I will definitely be CASE’ing your beautiful card for them. They went over the 50 yr mark a while back, guess this will be 55 years for them, but still worthy of such a lovely card. Thanks for the inspiration! Jan Hoyt inkerzaway.blogspot.com

just doing the “blog tour” and scrolled down far enough to see this beautiful card again. I had commented on it earlier and mentioned that I planned to CASE it for my parents’ anniversary (way past 50th but they will still love it) and I had to check back in to let you know that I actually DID make the card. After I saw yours I went downstairs and figured that I would just do it while it was fresh in my mind. WHAT a beautiful but EASY card!!!!

And the best part? My parents’ anniversary isn’t until early August….I will mail it out before I leave for convention to make sure it’s not late but already I have the perfect card for them! And my friends and customers get to take a peek at the lovely card created by our talented and creative Connie…and copied exactly by me! I always tell people that I am NOT creative, I’m just a good copycat and then tell them where the ideas come from….I figure best to be up front and let them know that if I can do it, anyone can.
