Starring You – Stamping 411

July 4, 2009 By Connie | 4 Comments

Happy 4th of July!

Time for another Stamping 411 Sketch Challenge, SSC106.  I hope you take time to play along this week!  I thought this sketch was PERFECT for my 4th of July celebration card!

I had purchased the stamp set, Starring You, a while back with some hostess credits, but never mounted it (I know…isn’t that bad?  I have a few sets sitting down there to mount!)  So, when I was looking for a star to stamp on the background, I pulled it out and mounted it.  Really…it is SUCH a cute set, I don’t know why I haven’t used it before!  I love the larger Happy Birthday star in it, but the greetings are fun, too!

I started with a background base card of Real Red.  The trio of stars from Starring You was stamped in the background of Brilliant Blue with Whisper White Craft ink.  I stamped Celebrate Today in Brilliant Blue ink on Whisper White and punched it with the NEW Modern Tag punch!  (I LOVE that punch!)  I secured it to the Brilliant Blue by placing a couple Real Red Mini Brads on each side.  I wrapped some White Taffeta Ribbon around the edge in a "cheater bow".  Then adhered the entire unit to the base Real Red card.  I punched the small stars with the Small Star Punch from Real Red, then layered then on a 1 x 1 square of Brilliant Blue, then layered that on Whisper White squares made with the 1 1/4 Square Punch.  Those I lined up along the ribbon.

This was such a FUN sketch!  I’ll be using it again, I’m sure!

I hope you have a safe 4th of July holiday!  We are headed out to the Lake for a day of sun and fun, and watch the fireworks.

I love stamping cards, altering 3D items and making little favors. I've been stamping for over 19 years and had my 18th year Stampin' Up! anniversary in early May. I love being part of something that sparks my creativity and hear people comment, "you MADE this?" I also enjoy sharing that passion with others in my classes! If you live anywhere in the Delaware, Dublin, Powell, Lewis Center, Hilliard or surrounding Columbus, Ohio areas, join us! I love to meet new stamping friends. Email me for a current class schedule... I'm adding new classes all the time!
