Oh wow! Sometime yesterday or today (I’m posting early), I will hit 200,000 views on this Blog! I had no idea how popular this would become when I started less than two years ago. I want to thank you all for visiting and sharing your comments. I certainly appreciate it! I do enjoy posting and sharing my creations with you!
Today’s Bloggers’ Challenge was to use this sketch. Many of you already know that I love sketches for a jumping off point. Start with a sketch, match up a stamp set, then choose the colors…that is my favorite way to create. Although sometimes, the finished card deviates a little from the original sketch (here I moved the accent buttons over to the upper left instead of the lower right and I used an oval shape instead of round), I still think it is easily recognizable as being inspired by the sketch.
This set is one of my favorites from the new Occasions Mini Catalog, Scene of a Garden. I started with a base 3 x 6 card in Chocolate Chip and layered on Regal Rose. I stamped the birdhouse sitting on the bench, with the little bird next to it, with Basic Brown ink. I watercolored with my markers (Regal Rose, Chocolate Chip, Pumpkin Pie) on Naturals White cardstock. I punched out the scene with my Wide Oval punch. Since we don’t have a scallop oval punch big enough to mat around the Wide Oval, I used the Scallop circle punch, cut it in half, the used the wide ribbon to hide the gap between the scallops. The Get Well greeting is from Curvy Verses since I need to send off a Get Well card. The stripe paper is from Sweet Always Designer Paper. I love the Regal Rose, Pumpkin Pie and Chocolate Chip color combination! So bright and cheery for spring!
Well, need to run…I’m headed out of town to do a make-up class from when I was sick last week. Looking forward to seeing my friends! Have a GREAT weekend!
Note: We DO have a new Scallop Oval punch that mats around the Large Oval punch in the new Occasions Mini! It just doesn’t go around the Wide Oval Punch (here’s to hoping there are more Scallop Oval punches in the new catalog!)
Sets: Scene of a Garden, Curvy Verses
C/S: Chocolate Chip, Regal Rose, Naturals White, Sweet Always DSP
Markers: Chocolate Chip, Pumpkin Pie, Regal Rose
Other: 1/4 circle punch, Scallop Circle Punch, Wide Oval punch, 5/8 Chocolate Grosgrain Ribbon

I just ordered that set before the discount on the mini went away! I ordered it for the rain boots, but I love birds also! This is a great little card! I think I’ll be glad I purchased.

Very Cute…I wondered at first where you got the stamp but after reading I found out and I must say that was a clever way to use the different stamps in that set.

Very cute, love the circle scallops–looks great, I did not even notice that it was not an oval punch until I read it, lol! I thought you just put the ribbon between. By the way, I received you the envelops you sent–THANK YOU! They worked perfectly and on time too-not to mention official SU.
