CCMC356 Kind Koala

July 30, 2015 By Connie | 9 Comments

It’s Thursday and time for the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge!  It’s a color challenge this week, grab your stamps and ink pads and play along!

I was running behind this week in creating my card and when I saw a preview of what the rest of the Challenge Team was doing, I noticed that most of them used flowers.  So, I was on a mission to NOT use flowers on my card.  But…you know…flowers are my FAVORITE, right?  So…I pulled out a stamp that has only seen love a couple times, Kind Koala.  I need to send a “thinking of you” card so it was perfect to use.

CCMC366 Kind Koala
Here are the details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Perfect Plum, folded in half.
  • The next layer is 4 x 5-1/4 Sahara Sand, embossed with the Happy Heart Embossing folder.
  • I cut a 1-1/2 x 5 piece of Mint Macaron striped In Colors Collection Designer Paper and added it to a 4 x 5 piece of Whisper White, then I cut it with the Lots of Labels framelit, making sure to leave enough room for my image.
  • I stamped the Kind Koala with Black Stazon Ink, then colored with Sahara Sand and Perfect Plum Markers.  I took a Blender Pen and smoothed out the lines made by the marker.
  • In the center of the flower, I placed a Perfect White Accent.
  • I cut a small piece of Mint Macaron Lace Ribbon, tied a knot and added it to the card with Mini Glue Dots.

I like…how about you?  I hope my friend likes it, too!  Make sure to check out what the rest of the Challenge Team did this week over on Create with Connie and Mary!

I love stamping cards, altering 3D items and making little favors. I've been stamping for over 20 years and will have my 19th year Stampin' Up! anniversary in early May. I love being part of something that sparks my creativity and hear people comment, "you MADE this?" I also enjoy sharing that passion with others in my classes! If you live anywhere in the Delaware, Dublin, Powell, Lewis Center, Hilliard or surrounding Columbus, Ohio areas, join us! I love to meet new stamping friends. Email me for a current class schedule... I'm adding new classes all the time!

Love this little guy – how cute! I love the panel of striped paper along the edge of the framelit – this is a neat touch and the heart embossing behind also adds subtle detail. Great card Connie!
