I love to check out Shelli Gardner's Creative Project each month, but haven't submitted anything in a LONG time. So, when I saw her challenge this month is a Spring Creative Project, I thought of my March class card. I think it fits perfectly! The first card is actually the one I started with! I know…usually people start with simple and add-on….mine is the reverse. I started with the add-ons and then simplified it for my March classes and clubs.

Don't you LOVE that little chick? I adapted it from the Bird Punch! No…the chick is not my original idea…I think I mixed a couple ideas together to develop her (and it IS a her…can you see her eyelashes I drew with the Stampin' Write marker? lol!) The base card is Certainly Celery and I added on a layer of Whisper White. I cut the Playdate Designer Paper to fit inside the Whisper White. I used the Scallops #2 Bigz Die and cut a scallop circle of Peach Parfait, then stamped it with Stampin' Up!'s En Francais background stamp with Peach Parfait Classic Ink.
I used Stampin' Up!'s Build a Blossom stamps and Blossom Petals Punch to make the flower with Peach Parfait Classic Ink on Whisper White cardstock.. A little TIP…punch a 1" circle from scrap paper, cover it with adhesive, then start with the petals on the outside, placing them directly across from each other horizontally, then fill in with the additional flowers and move to the front. I think it makes the flower look more natural! To cover the tips of the petals on the circle, I punched another 1" circle of Early Espresso cardstock, then pushed the circle back in and punched it again in a "football" type shape. It fit perfectly over the scrap 1" circle. Oh, I did run the Early Espresso thru the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dots Impressions Folder for a little added texture. I hand cut the stem from Certainly Celery cardstock, then stamped the leaf with Certainly Celery Classic Ink on Certainly Celery cardstock and punched it with the Blossom Petals punch. The flower is placed with Stampin' Dimensionals over the scallop circle. I wrapped the Certainly Celery Taffeta Ribbon to the back and adhered, then added a bow with a Clear Rhinestone Brad in the center.
I punched the Bird Punch with So Saffron cardstock and sponged the edges with So Saffron Classic Ink. The wing was cut from the Bird Punch, then put into the Scallop Oval punch to scallop the bottom. I used Early Espresso and Pumpkin Pie Stampin' Write Markers to add the eye and beak colors. She is popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals on the front, too. Finally, I stamped "Sending Springtime Smiles" from Easter Blossoms Stamp Set (LOVE that greeting!) in Early Espresso on Whisper White and punched with the Large Oval Punch.
Here is the simplified version…really…just as cute! I won't get into all the details again, it is very similar to the blinged up version. I used Pear Pizzazz cardstock and Seam Binding Ribbon. I eliminated the chick and moved the greeting over. I also used Sweet Stitches Designer Paper in the background. Same look…just fewer supplies needed. Still using Stampin' Up!'s AWESOME Build a Blossom stamp set and Blossom Petals Punch!
