Stamping 411 Reveal!

Did you have a chance to go over and play the Stamping 411 guessing game in celebration of our One Year Anniversary of Stamping 411 Sketch Blog? It's been a fun year! Selene came up with the idea for us to post one of the other Design Operator's cards on our blog, and have the readers guess whose card it might be from the style. She'll be posting the Blog Candy Winners soon…so check it out!

I must have fooled a lot of people because guesses for me were way over the board, even from the Design Operators! I hope that means I have a very eclectic style! I think I confused everyone with Gretchen because she had posted the scallop envelope the week before…my card was already in the mail and I didn't know it! But now for the Big Reveal…here is MY actual card.

I started with a base of Bashful Blue cardstock and layered along the bottom the diagonal strip pattern from Travel Journal Designer Paper. The top Kraft layer, I stamped randomly with Night of Navy Classic Ink and the Sentimental Jouney Stamp Set. I also used Itty Bitty Backgrounds for some added speckles of Night of Navy ink. I wrapped two pieces of Night of Navy Grosgrain Ribbon around to the back to secure and hide the seam.

I ran the Scallop Envelope die thru the Big Shot with Night of Navy cardstock, then ran it thru again with the Square Lattice Impressions Folder to emboss it. I placed it on the front with a small Bashful Blue card inside that I stamped with Stampin' Up!'s Wonderful Favorites stamp set in Night of Navy Classic Ink. Finally, I stamped the compass from Sentimental Jouney in Pumpkin Pie Classic Ink and punched with the 1" circle punch. I added an Vintage mini brad in the center and adhered it to the envelope.

We sent our cards off to Selene to photograph…she did a mini swap and mailed them out randomly to the other Design Operators…I wonder who got mine?

Sentimental Journey Again

The Clean and SImple Challenge over on Stampin' Connection calls for a non-standard sized card and my card fits. I also haven't played Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge in a LONG time! I liked her sketch today and decided it would work perfectly with Stampin' Up!'s Sentimental Journey stamp set and Travel Journey Designer Paper! I wanted to keep this as a simple, demonstratable card. And one that didn't use the collage elements that this set is perfect for. I think each of the stamps in this set could easily be substituted for the little car stamp that I used.

I started with a base of 6×6 Night of Navy cardstock, folded in half for the base 3 x 6 card. I added the diagonal stripe pattern from Stampin' Up!'s Travel Journey Designer Paper and layered it on Garden Green cardstock. I wrapped the 1" Double Stitched Bashful Blue Ribbon around from the back, knotted it with Linen Thread and secured to the front. I stamped Dear Dad from Stampin' Up!'s Holiday Blitz Stamp Set in the lower right cover of the Pumpkin Pie cardstock. I added three 1/4 circles in Garden Green, Night of Navy and Bashful Blue cardstock.

Finally, I stamped the car from Sentimental Journey in Night of Navy Classic Ink on Whisper White and punched with the 1 3/4 Circle Punch. I added a Bashful Blue 2" Circle cut with the Circle #2 Die and Big Shot behind it. I think it made a great masculine card!

Sentimental Journey

I wanted to use Stampin' Up!'s new Sentimental Journey stamp set in a more feminine set of colors! I've only used it in the masculine colors that go along with the Travel Journal Designer Paper! So, I chose Technostamper's Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge (TSSC121) to come up with a layout for my set.

Well…you know how something gets stuck in your head! I wanted to use the luggage image in different colors, so I tried "forcing" it into the sketch. Hmmm…not so much! But, I thought I'd show you my first try, and show you how I worked it out! I'd love for you to leave me a comment and tell me which card you like better when I'm finished!

OK…the first one. I had the Scallop Circle #2 cut from Razzleberry Lemonade Designer Paper already in my scrap pile. I layered it on Pretty In Pink that I ran thru the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dots Impressions Folder. I layered that on Whisper White and then Crushed Curry. I wrapped the White Satin Ribbon around (to tone down the colors) and added the Miss You Already greeting from Really Retro (sorry…this was in my current stamp set storage…I didn't realize it had retired!) and punched with the Large Oval, then the Scallop Oval from Crushed Curry. I added the suitcases stamped in Pretty in Pink, Melon Mambo and Crushed Curry Classic Inks. Everything was placed on the Melon Mambo base card.

So, for my next one, I decided to flip the sketch on it's side! I used the Razzleberry Lemonade print in the background and layered it on Crushed Curry cardstock. I brought the Pretty in Pink Scalllop #2 circle to the front. I ran it thru the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dots Impressions Folder for some texture. I wrapped the Crushed Curry Polka Dot Ribbon and tied a knot, this added a little brightness to the darker colors. I stamped the greeting again and punched with the Large Oval, then the Crushed Curry Scallop Oval. I stamped the suitcases in Melon Mambo, Crushed Curry and Rich Razzleberry Classic Inks. Finally, this was placed on a base card of Rich Razzleberry.
