CCMC158 – Flower Fest

July 7, 2011 By Connie | 11 Comments

Over on Create with Connie and Mary, we have a SPECIAL CHALLENGE going on for the next two weeks!  Since so many of our Challenge Team Members will be at the Stampin' Up! Convention, we have a couple challenges for you to try over the next TWO weeks!  We are offering a COLOR Challenge and a SKETCH challenge.  You can do one card, two cards OR combine them both on one…it is up to you!  And…you have TWO weeks to complete the challenge!

I'm actually going to do BOTH challenges!  This Thursday you will see my Color Challenge card.  Next Thursday while I'm at Convention, my Sketch Challenge card will post!  You'll have the best of both worlds!  Well…not saying mine are the best…but you know what I mean!  lol!  Here is my card for this week featuring the colors of Pumpkin Pie, So Saffron and Basic Gray.

My Technique Class members will find this card familiar!  I used the same technique (Partial Dual Embossing) for the background and just changed up the colors to meet the color challenge!  I started with a base of Pumpkin Pie and layered on Basic Gray cardstock.  I ran the Very Vanilla thru the Big Shot with both the Perfect Polka Dots and Tulip Border Impressions Folder to get the design as shown (THANKS Mary Brown for showing me how to do this!)  I stamped the rose flower in Stampin' Up!'s Flower Fest set three times with Pumpkin Pie Classic Ink on So Saffron cardstock and cut them out.  I stamped the leaf three times with Basic Gray Classic Ink on Basic Gray cardstock and cut them out.  One of the roses is popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals.

I wrapped the Basic Gray Satin Ribbon around to the back of the Very Vanilla layer and adhered.  Anyone else VERY happy that Basic Gray color returned???  I still had some left from when it retired!  I added three large pearls to the ribbon on the front for some added bling!  Finally, I stamped "Thanks Big Time" from Stampin' Up!'s A Word For You stamp set in Basic Gray.

Make sure to check out what the rest of the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge Team did this week!  You'll see some new faces over there if you haven't stopped by in a while!  And, remember, you have TWO WEEKS to play along this time!  Grab your stamps and join us!  If you will be a Convention…grab me and say HI!  Chances are Mary will be close by, too!

I love stamping cards, altering 3D items and making little favors. I've been stamping for over 19 years and had my 18th year Stampin' Up! anniversary in early May. I love being part of something that sparks my creativity and hear people comment, "you MADE this?" I also enjoy sharing that passion with others in my classes! If you live anywhere in the Delaware, Dublin, Powell, Lewis Center, Hilliard or surrounding Columbus, Ohio areas, join us! I love to meet new stamping friends. Email me for a current class schedule... I'm adding new classes all the time!

Yes is there a tutorial for this technique? Do you have to cut your embossing folders in order to do this? Really cool..

So great and I love that embossing technique. I didn't realize the basic gray satin came back, I LOVE THAT STUFF! Now I've got to go downstairs and rummage through my retiring stuff…..

I love this, too!  I'd love some instruction on how to do it, too.  I can often figure it out, but this one has me stumped!  Thanks for your inspiration!
