CCMC391 Birthday Blooms

January 28, 2016 By Connie | 9 Comments

It’s time for another Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge!  This time a fun sketch challenge.  I know you’ll be amazed at all the different looks this sketch inspired!  And I hope YOU are inspired enough to play along!  It really is a CAS design, but I love the elements across the bottom.

CCMC391
Here’s my interpretation.  I love the soft colors!

CCMC391 Birthday Blooms

Now for the details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Mint Macaron and I rounded the corners on the right side with the Project Life Corner Rounder.
  • On top is a 3-3/4 x 5 layer of Birthday Bouquet Designer Paper in the polka dot pattern.
  • The Birthday Blooms flower is stamped with Black Archival Ink on Shimmer White and watercolored with Blushing Bride, Calypso Coral, Mint Macaron, Mossy Meadow and So Saffron Stampin’ Write Markers.  It was handcut.
  • A 1/4 x 4-1/4 strip of Mossy Meadow Cardstock was adhered across the front.
  • A 3/4 x 3-1/2 strip of Mint Macaron cardstock cut into a point shape was placed on front, then the greeting from Birthday Blooms was stamped on a 1″x 3-3/4 strip of Whisper White cardstock with Black Archival Ink and cut into a point end, layering with the Mint Macaron.
  • Finally, the Birthday Blooms flower was placed on the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

OK, make sure to check out the rest of the Challenge Team over on Create with Connie and Mary!  And, also say “goodbye” to two of our long-standing Challenge Team Members, Lisa Young and Bridgette Jones.

I love stamping cards, altering 3D items and making little favors. I've been stamping for over 20 years and will have my 19th year Stampin' Up! anniversary in early May. I love being part of something that sparks my creativity and hear people comment, "you MADE this?" I also enjoy sharing that passion with others in my classes! If you live anywhere in the Delaware, Dublin, Powell, Lewis Center, Hilliard or surrounding Columbus, Ohio areas, join us! I love to meet new stamping friends. Email me for a current class schedule... I'm adding new classes all the time!

    Hi Connie

Love your card and was wondering if you used watercolor paper, shimmery white or thick white card stock?

I did use Shimmer White…it is best for watercoloring with the AquaPainter.

Connie, this is very nice. what is Shimmer White paper? Does it have a sheen to it?

    Thanks

I think this is my favorite set in the Occasions catalog. That flower is gorgeous no matter what colors used, and I agree that those soft colors are lovely!

Shimmer White is a cardstock that Stampin’ Up! sells that is thicker than Whisper White and has a faint sheen to it. Great for watercoloring with an AquaPainter.

What a beautiful flower in soft pastels Connie – I have this set and haven’t used it; I really need to remedy that!
