I decided to play along with Mary Jo's Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge TSSC230 and went ahead and kept with her square shape to make my card.
I also used one of the pretty Christmas sets in the new catalog, Christmas Blessings. I used this set on one of my swap cards this year for Convention.
I like that this year's Christmas Designer Paper "Be of Good Cheer" has "real" Christmas colors! While I like some non-traditional colors once in a while…I also love some good Christmas traditional colors. The mistletoe in Christmas Blessings, of course, is traditional red and green, and a perfect match for the Designer Paper.
I started with a base of Cherry Cobbler cardstock, then layered on the Gumball Green polka dot pattern from Be of Good Cheer. I also added a piece of the lovely stripe in this same paper pack. The mistletoe is stamped with Black Stazon on Very Vanilla and punched with the 2 1/2" Circle Punch. I layered it on the new Delicate Doilies Sizzlit of Cherry Cobbler. Tip: I've found that if I run the cardstock with the Sizzlit thru the Big Shot one way, leave it in and run it back and forth a couple more times thru the Big Shot, those pesky little pieces almost fall right out! The medallion is popped up on the front of my card with Stampin' Dimensionals. I made a little bow from 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon to hang the mistletoe. Then I stamped the greeting from Christmas Blessings in Black Stazon on Very Vanilla and cut a little flag shape on one end. I tucked it under the medallion and let it hang off the end of the card a little.
I love how this turned out! In fact, I'm so excited that this may be the layout I use for my cards this year! I "have" to use snowmen, of course, but I'll see what I can work out!
It's not too late to join! We just started our last week of Create with Connie and Mary New Catalog 2012 Edition and this week it is all about Designer's Choice! The Design Team could use any set that wasn't previous featured during the New Catalog Edition weeks. I used A Fitting Occasion for my project and it turned out really fun! For the regular subscription price of $29.95 you get 30 FANTASTIC ideas that you can use ALL YEAR LONG with your new catalog! You don’t want to miss it! Check out the Create with Connie and Mary site for more information.
