Creatively Simple 25 – Chasing Butterflies

Welcome to Create with Connie and Mary’s Creatively Simple Challenge!  Each month Mary and I will pick a theme…this month it is “Birthday”, and we each create a simple card every week using that theme!

I’ve used Stampin’ Up!’s Chasing Butterflies on today’s card since I think she is adorable!  I have several birthday cards I need to send out this month!

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Thick Basic White cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
  • On top is a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Pool Party cardstock.
  • A 1-3/4 x 5-1/4 piece of striped Sunshine & Rainbows DSP was added towards the left side.  Another 1 x 4 piece of coordinating Sunshine & Rainbows DSP was added towards the bottom.
  • A Scalloped Contour Rectangle was cut from Basic White and stamped with the little girl from Chasing Butterflies in Memento Black Ink.  She was colored with So Saffron, Pumpkin Pie, Soft Suede, Pool Party and Natural Tones SU900 Stampin’ Blends.  Her cheeks with Light Flirty Flamingo.  The ground was stamped with Pool Party Ink.  The scallop rectangle was added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Only the word Celebrate was inked with a Basic Black Marker and stamped on a 1/2 x 2 piece of So Saffron cardstock, the end trimmed at an angle.  It was added with a Stampin’ Dimensional.
  • The butterflies were stamped with Pool Party Ink in the upper right corner.
  • Two Brushed Brass Butterflies were added to the background.

Hello!  It’s Thursday and you know that means it is time for a Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge.  We have a timely color challenge for you this week, perfect for Valentine’s Day!

CHASING BUTTERFLIES

Chasing Butterflies is another cute stamp set that Stampin’ Up! has available to pick up FREE with a qualifying $50 purchase (US).  This card is going out to my granddaughter for Valentine’s Day!  (The boys are getting robot cards!)  Did you notice her hair has Highland Heather highlights?  Too funny!

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Highland Heather cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
  • A 1-1/4 x 5-1/4 piece of Sweet Talk Designer Paper was added to the bottom of the 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Basic White cardstock.
  • A 1/4 x 5-1/4 strip of Real Red cardstock was added to hide the seam.
  • The greeting from Chasing Butterflies was stamped with Real Red Ink above the DSP.
  • The little girl from Chasing Butterflies was stamped with Memento Black Ink on scrap Basic White cardstock and colored with Highland Heather, Real Red, Dark So Saffron and SU900 Stampin’ Blends.  The checks are Light Flirty Flamingo Stampin’ Blends.  Note:  The polka dots on her dress were just hand drawn.
  • A few hearts cut from the Sweet Heart Dies were added to the background.
