Saturday Blog Hop – Wishing For Spring

It’s Saturday and time for our Create with Stamping Friends Blog Hop.  This week our theme is “Wishing for Spring”.  I know those of us in the Midwest cannot WAIT for warmer temperatures!

MIXED FLORALS

I think the tulips are SO pretty in this Mixed Florals stamp set…I just had to make a garden of them!

 

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Pretty in Pink cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
  • The 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Basic White cardstock was stamped with the tulips image twice, one higher than the other.  They were water colored using Peach Pie, Lemon Lime Twist, Summer Splash and Pretty in Pink Stampin’ Write Markers and a Water Painter.
  • The top was brushed with Pool Party Ink and the bottom brushed with Lemon Lime Twist Ink using Blending Brushes.
  • Happy Spring from Storybook Friends was stamped with Memento Black Ink on 1/2 x 2-1/2 Pretty in Pink cardstock and the end cut at an angle.  It was added to the top with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • A trio of Party Dots were added in the background.

This month our Creatively Simple challenge theme is Easter as the focus on our cards!  Even though Easter is late in the Spring this year, it is always nice to have ideas to get a jump start on them!

MIXED FLORALS

Yellow, green and blue just are SO springy looking so I focused on those colors for today’s Easter card!

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Lemon Lime Twist cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded. 
  • A 2-1/2 x 5-1/2 strip of Floral Delight DSP was added down the center.
  • The 1-1/2 x 5-1/2 piece of Old Olive cardstock was torn across the top and bottom and added to the front.
  • The large flower from Mixed Florals was stamped with Memento Black Ink on Basic White cardstock and water colored with Lemon Lolly, Old Olive and Balmy Blue Inks.  It was cut with the Spotlight on Nature circle die and added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • A trio of Transparent Adhesive Backed Dots were added to the background.
  • Easter Greetings from Storybook Friends stamp set was stamped with Memento Black Ink on 3/4 x 2-1/2 Old Olive cardstock and the ends torn.  It was adhered to the circle.

It’s Thursday and time for our Create with Stamping Friends challenge!  This week is a bright color challenge!

MIXED FLORALS

I used the black and white print from Mixed Media Florals Designer Paper and water colored the flowers and leaves.  Then I went back and shadowed with the same colors of Stampin’ Blends.

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Petunia Pop cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
  • The Mixed Media DSP was cut to 4 x 5-1/4 size, then water colored with Smoky Slate, Poppy Parade, Petunia Pop and Shy Shamrock Makers and a Water Painter.  Let dry.
  • On top of the water coloring, I used the same colors of Stampin’ Blends to highlight and deepen the tones.
  • A 1-1/4 x 4 strip of the Shy Shamrock Mixed Media DSP print stamped with the greeting from Mixed Labels in Memento Black Ink.  It was added across the front towards the bottom.
  • Two stems from Mixed Florals stamp set were stamped with Memento Black Ink on Shy Shamrock cardstock and cut with Mixed Florals Dies.  Thy were added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Some Gold Twisted Thread was tied in a bow and added to the stems with a Mini Glue Dot.
  • Some Two-Tone Sparkle Gems were added to some flower centers, the leaf stems and next to the greeting for a little bling!  You know how much I LOVE these Gems!

It’s Thursday and time for our Create with Stamping Friends challenge!  This week is a fun sketch for you to try!

MIXED FLORALS

I wanted to use this new Mixed Florals stamp set on today’s card, but it really was too big to show it off horizontally.  So, I flipped the sketch instead!

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Shy Shamrock cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
  • I used 1/2 x 7 strips of Mixed Media Designer Paper and adhered them diagonally across the one end as shown in the sketch, spaced about 3/8″ apart.
  • The 2-1/2 x 3-3/4 Basic White panel was stamped with the daisy image in Mixed Florals with Memento Black Ink, then colored with Petal Pink, Calypso Coral, Lemon Lime Twist and Shy Shamrock Stamin’ Blends lightly to get a more watercolor look.
  • The Basic White panel was added to a 2-3/4 x 4 piece of Basic Black cardstock, then added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The greeting from Mixed Labels was stamped with Memento Black Ink on Petal Pink cardstock and cut with the Mixed Label Die,
  • Some Gold Twisted Thread was wrapped in a circle a couple times, then added to the top left corner with a Stampin’ Dimensional.  The greeting label was added on top.  It adds just the right amount of bling!
