CS166 – Polar Bear

Welcome to Create with Stamping Friends Creatively Simple Challenge! Each month Debbie and I will pick a theme for our simple cards. Our theme for November is Christmas! Time to be thinking about what you will be making for Christmas cards and gifts!

POLAR BEAR using POTIONS & SPELLS DIES

This card has been done for several weeks, but I haven’t had a chance to share until now! I’ve made a cute polar bear from the Potions & Spells cauldron die! Can you see it?

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Thick Basic White cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
A 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Pool Party cardstock was added on top.
Two 1-1/4 x 4 strips of Snowy Scenes Designer Paper were added to each side.
The greeting from Christmas Friends (perfect!) was stamped with Memento Black Ink towards the bottom.
The polar bear head is the cauldron from Potions & Spells Dies turned upside down and cut from Basic White cardstock.
The ears are medium bubbles cut from Basic White cardstock and inside ears are small bubbles cut from Petal Pink cardstock and the eyes small bubbles from Basic Black cardstock.
The cheeks were colored with Petal Pink Ink using a sponge dauber.
The muzzle is a 1-1/4″ Circle cut from Basic White and trimmed along the top.
The nose is the beaker liquid cut with the die from Basic Black cardstock. It is popped up on the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The scarf is 1/4 x 5 cut and trimmed and adhered to the bottom of the “top” of the cauldron.

I made this card for a challenge and the decided to use something else…so here is a bonus card this week! Happy Halloween!

POTIONS & SPELLS

I love the ooze and bubbles cut from green Glimmer Paper on this card! So sparkly and fun!

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Pumpkin Pie cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
A 1-1/2 x 4 piece of Halloween Spells Designer Paper was added to the bottom of a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Smoky Slate cardstock, then added to the front.
The cauldron from Spells & Potions stamp set was stamped with Memento Black Ink on Basic Gray cardstock and cut with the Die. I temporarily added it to the front where I wanted it, then stamped the bubbles with Smoky Slate Ink above the cauldron rim. After those were stamped, I added the cauldron to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Several shapes of bubbles and the ooze were cut from the bright green Festive Glimmer Paper and added to the cauldron and above.
The broom handle was cut from Basic Black with the Die and trimmed to fit inside the cauldron.
The greeting was stamped with Memento Black Ink on scrap Pumpkin Pie cardstock and cut with the stack of books Die. It was added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Translucent Adhesive Backed Dots were added for the tiny bubbles in the cauldron.
Some green/white 2022-24 In Color Baker’s Twine (Clearance Rack) was tied in a bow and added to the broom handle.

Welcome to our Create with Stamping Friends Inspiration Monday challenges. This week’s inspiration challenge is a witchy black cat! So cute!

POTIONS & SPELLS

The only black cat I could think to use is in the Potions & Spells Bundle (online exclusive). I also used the fun Halloween Spells Designer Paper along with it…love the bright colors!

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Granny Apple Green cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
A 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Gray Granite cardstock was added on top and the greeting stamped at the bottom in Memento Black Ink.
Four 1-3/4 x 1-3/4 squares of Halloween Spells 12×12 DSP were added to the background.
The circle was cut with the Stylish Shapes Dies from Basic White cardstock and the bubble stamped randomly in the background with Granny Apple Green Ink and colored with Light Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Blends. The ground was shaded with Light Gray Granite Stampin’ Blends. It was added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The cat was stamped with Memento Black Ink on Basic Gray cardstock and cut with the Potions & Spells Die, then added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Some Black Basic Essentials Baker’s Twine was tied around the cat’s tail in a bow.
The large bottle was cut from Lemon Lime Twist and label from Gorgeous Grape cardstocks, the smaller bottle from Basic White and Pumpkin Pie cardstocks using the dies. They were added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
A trio of Transparent Adhesive Backed Dots were added to the background.
I used a white gel pen to highlight the eyes.

It’s Thursday and you know that means it is time for a Create with Stamping Friends Thursday Challenge. This month is our annual “Case the Catalog”! We use samples from the catalog to inspire the cards we make! Always fun to see if our design team uses the colors, the layout, the stamp set…or whatever element inspires them.

POTIONS & SPELLS

I love the caldron in this stamp set…and of course the cat!!! I’ve combined them both on today’s card!

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Basic Gray cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
Three 1-1/2 x 3-3/4 pieces of Flowering Zinnias Designer Paper were spaced in the background. Some bubbles were stamped with Memento Black Ink on the green panel at the top.
The caldron, cat and bubbles were stamped with Memento Black Ink on Basic White cardstock and colored with Smoky Slate, Light Basic Black, Lemon Lime Twist and Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends. They were cut with the dies and added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The bubbles were hand-cut.
The broomstick was cut with the Die from Pecan Pie cardstock and added to the caldron.
The sign was stamped on Smoky Slate cardstock and stamped with the greeting in Memento Black Ink. It was cut with the stack of books die and added to the broomstick with a Stampin’ Dimensional on front.
Some black from the Baker’s Twine Essentials Pack was tied in a bow on the handle.
Three light green Transparent Adhesive Backed Dots were added to the caldron for “bubbles”.
