Twisted in Time

Welcome to our Create with Stamping Friends Inspiration Monday challenges.  This week’s inspiration is a spooky scene!

SPOOKY HALLOWEEN

I’ve been wanting to use the Twisted in Time trees for a Halloween card, and this was a perfect time!  Hurry and grab them…they are on the Last Chance list!

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Basic Black cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
  • The 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Pumpkin Pie cardstock was brushed with Memento Black Ink around the top edges.
  • A 3 x 4-1/2 piece of Basic Black cardstock was torn about 1″ from the top.  Both the torn edges were brushed with White Craft Ink, then layered together on the bottom of the Pumpkin Pie layer.  It was added to the front.
  • The moon was punched with the 2″ Circle Punch from Daffodil Delight cardstock and brushed with Pumpkin Pie Ink, it was added to the top.
  • Two trees were cut with the Twisted in Time Dies from Basic Black cardstock using the Die, then adhere to each side, trimming off the excess on the edges.
  • The house was cut from Basic Black cardstock and a background piece of Daffodil Delight was trimmed to fit behind the windows and doors.  They were adhered together.  A Pumpkin Pie Stampin’ Blends was used to color the bottom of the windows and doors for a shadow look.  The house was added to the front with Black Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The bats were cut from Basic Black cardstock and adhered to the moon with Black Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Spooky from Spooky Halloween stamp set was stamped with Memento Black Ink on 1/2 x 2 piece of Spooky Sweets Designer Paper and the end cut at an angle.  It was adhered to the bottom on the front.
  • A trio of yellow 2025-27 In Color Flat Pearls were added around the bottom.

CSF876 – Twisted in Time

It’s Thursday and time for our Create with Stamping Friends challenge!  For each Thursday in July, we pick a different sample from Stampin’ Up’s! Annual Catalog to use as our inspiration.  We are not copying the card but using it to inspire our creation…maybe we use the same set or the colors or the layout or some combination of all the above…it is fun seeing where the inspiration piece will take each of the designers!  Here’s this week’s inspiration:

TWISTED IN TIME

I’m SO sad that this Twisted in Time bundle is on the Last Chance List…it really is a fun set to work with!  Grab it now before it is gone (but make sure to purchase the stamps and dies separately…you’ll save more than the bundled price!)

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Lemon Lime Twist cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
  • A 1 x 4 strip of green striped Floral Impressions DSP was cut with a flag end and added at the top left.
  • A 3 x 5 piece of Basic White cardstock is stamped by inking the Size B block with Lemon Lime Twist, Old Olive, and Mossy Meadow Inks, spritzing them with water before stamping them staggered on the paper.
  • The Twisted in Time tree is stamped with Early Espresso Ink in the lower right corner.  The panel was added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Some Linen Thread is tied with a large loop bow and added to the upper left corner with a Mini Glue Dot.
  • The greeting was stamped with Early Espresso Ink on 1 x 2 piece of Basic White cardstock and the end flag cut.  It was added over the bow with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Some Pecan Pie & Clear Ribboned Adhesive Backed Dots were added in the background around the greeting.

I used the layout of the challenge card but changed out the colors and the images!  I love how it turned out!  Check out what the rest of the Challenge Team did with this challenge over on Create with Stamping Friends.

Saturday Blog Hop – One Layer Cards

It’s Saturday and time for our Create with Stamping Friends Blog Hop.  This week our theme is “One Layer Cards”.  I always find that one-layer cards are SO much harder to make than regular cards with lots of layers and elements!  My card this week is truly just a one-layer card…no embellishments, but I like how it turned out!

TWISTED IN TIME

Twisted in Time is a new Online Exclusive that was just released.  I love the gnarly looking tree!  A little masking made this come together really quickly!

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Thick Basic White (so HAPPY that this is staying as an online exclusive in the 8-1/2 x 11 size!)
  • The edges were masked off with Washi Tape leaving approx. 1/4″ on the left side and 2-1/4 on the right side.
  • Blending brushes were used with Pumpkin Pie Ink, Daffodil Delight Ink, Lemon Lime Twist Ink, Granny Apple Green Ink and Garden Green Inks across the background.  I made the “hills” by tearing a piece of cardstock and using it as a mask to variegate the colors of the ground.
  • The Twisted in Time tree was stamped with Early Espresso Ink.  The bushy solid image was stamped with Granny Apple Green Ink and the detailed leaves stamped twice with Garden Green Ink…one higher than the other to fill in the tree.
  • The washi tape was removed and left a nice clean edge.
  • The greeting from Twisted in Time was stamped with Garden Green Ink in the lower right corner.

Yep…that’s it!  Even though it is only one layer, there is still SO much movement on this card!  I love it!   OK, next up on our blog hop is our Create with Stamping Friends website, then on to creative Debbie Henderson, or head backwards to see Melissa Davies’ fabulous project and see what everyone did with this challenge!
