Week 3 Blog Hop: Mother’s Love

April 25, 2015 By Connie | 2 Comments

CardCreateCeleBlogHopWelcomeWow!  We’ve come to the end of Create with Connie and Mary Card “Create”tions Celebrations already!  These three weeks have definitely gone by FAST!  To celebrate the end of Week 3, we are doing another Design Team Blog Hop with favors that match the stamp set we used this week.  AND…because the Stampin’ Up! retired list is out and we are done with our session, we’ve decided to go ahead and share the names of ALL the stamp sets we’ve used this session!  We’ve listed them over on Create with Connie and Mary…your next stop on this blog hop!  If you haven’t signed up, it’s not too late…and you’ll know exactly what sets we used AND be able to download all the tutorials at once to help you with your classes this month, to make gifts, or just be creative!

You’ve probably just come from Deb Currier’s blog…isn’t her favor SO fun?  Love it!

So…I used Mother’s Love for my card set this week.  I thought that a “purse” of cards for mom would be the perfect gift or favor, don’t you?  The set of 4 cards I made for Card “Create”tions Celebrations subscribers coordinate perfectly in this purse…and you could fit envelopes, too!  (It probably would hold 6 plus envelopes easily!)  I love the greetings in this Mother’s Love set…my daughter-in-law’s will be getting cards using this set since they both are now moms!

Week 3 Mother's Love Purse with cards
Now…I’m sure you want to know how to make this, so I’ve included a few instructions…did that make your day?

  • Cut one piece of DSP to 7 x 11, with 11″ at top of Simply Score Tool, score at 4-1/2 & 6-1/2.  Cut two pieces of DSP to 2 x 6, score at 3/4 and 5-3/8 on each.
  • With 7″ at top of large piece and using a pencil, make a tick mark at 1-1/4 & 5-3/4 on both ends.  Score from the tick mark to the first score line, repeat on other side to form a triangle as shown.  Fold on all score lines.

Purse Step 1
Adhere the 3/4″ tab on the side pieces to the base as shown.

Purse Step 2

  • Fold in angled sides.  Adhere sides pieces to tabs along the scored seams.  Fold the top tab over inside the purse to help hold the sides in place.

Purse Step 3

  • Decorate and embellish as desired.  I used the Deco Label Framelit for the purse “latch”.  The handle is 1 x 11 Old Olive, the trim is 1/2 x 11 Old Olive (needed two pieces).

Week 3 Mother's Love Purse
So…next up is the Create with Connie and Mary website (to sign up if you haven’t!) and then continue around to Mary Brown’s project and the rest of the Design Team!

I love stamping cards, altering 3D items and making little favors. I've been stamping for over 19 years and had my 18th year Stampin' Up! anniversary in early May. I love being part of something that sparks my creativity and hear people comment, "you MADE this?" I also enjoy sharing that passion with others in my classes! If you live anywhere in the Delaware, Dublin, Powell, Lewis Center, Hilliard or surrounding Columbus, Ohio areas, join us! I love to meet new stamping friends. Email me for a current class schedule... I'm adding new classes all the time!
