CCMC785 – Merry & Bright

It’s Thursday and you know that means it is time for a Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge. This week we have a fun sketch for you to try!

MERRY & BRIGHT

I thought of this set immediately when I saw the sketch! I was hoping I could use the light string as one of the elements.

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Shaded Spruce cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
The 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Lemon Lime Twist is embossed with the crosshatch Basics Embossing Folder (Online Exclusive).
A 1 x 5-1/2 strip of Merry Bold & Bright DSP is added down the right side.
A 3 x 3-1/2 piece of Basic White cardstock was added on the front.
The light string is cut with the Merry & Bright Die from Shaded Spruce cardstock.
The lights were stamped with Lemon Lime Twist, Berry Burst and Crushed Curry Inks, the filaments with Smoky Slate Ink on Basic White and cut with the Dies.
The light ends were cut from Silver Foil with the Dies and adhered to the lights, then threaded on the light strand and added to the front of the Basic White c/s with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Some Wink of Stella was added to each of the light bulbs.
Merry & Bright greeting was stamped with Shaded Spruce Ink on Basic White cardstock, then hand-cut and added to the front.
A trio of varied colored Iridescent Adhesive Backed Disks were added to the background.

Wow! First of December already!!! This year has flown by! It’s Thursday and you know that means it is time for a Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge. We’ve done a couple sketches with these angled layers, but here’s another variation!

CHRISTMAS LIGHTS

Even though Christmas trees are normally green, I wanted to shake things up with my blue Christmas tree theme!

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Balmy Blue cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
The 3 x 4-1/2 layer of Basic White is placed at an angle on the front.
The snowflake pattern in Storybook Gnomes DSP is added over the Basic White.
The tree from Christmas Lights was stamped with VersaMark on Balmy Blue cardstock and embossed with Silver Embossing Powder. It was cut with the Twinkling Lights Dies, then added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
A 3/8 X 3-3/4 strip of Silver Foil was added across the front towards the bottom.
Noel from Framed & Festive Stamp Set (only available while supplies last) is stamped with Pacific Point Ink on Basic White cardstock and cut with the Stylish Shapes Dies. It was added to the Silver Foil strip.
An Adhesive Backed Star was added to the top of the tree!

Welcome to Create with Connie and Mary’s Creatively Simple Challenge! Each month Mary and I will pick a theme…this month it is “Add a Tag”, and we each create a simple card every Tuesday in September using that theme!

CHRISTMAS LIGHTS

Stampin’ Details:

Base is 4-1/4 x 11 Pacific Point cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
Stamp small snowflakes from Christmas Lights with Pacific Point Ink on 3-3/4 x 5 Pacific Point cardstock layer and stamp some snowflakes with VersaMark and emboss with Silver Embossing Powder.
Add two strips of Storybook Gnomes Designer Paper down right side.
Cut Twinkling Lights Dies large snowflake from White Glimmer Paper and adhere over DSP.
Cut Twinkling Lights Dies tag from Balmy Blue cardstock, add greeting with Pacific Point Ink.
Stamp small snowflakes with VersaMark and Silver Emboss on tag.
Tie silver Elegant Trim thru top of tag. Add tag to front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Here is my BONUS card based on the Preview stamp set that Mary chose, Merry Minis! I love the Christmas lights image in this set and based my card around it!

Here are the details:

Base of the card is Cherry Cobbler cardstock.
I layered on the green polka dot print from Be of Good Cheer on top of Very Vanilla, the added little trim pieces above and below it with the stripe pattern from the same DSP.
1/8" Very Vanilla taffeta ribbon hides the seams between the designer paper.
I used the Large Scallop Edgelit with Brushed Silver cardstock and cut the scallop, then lined up the piece and cut it again to make a skinny silver thread.
I stamped the Christmas Lightbulb images from Merry Minis in Daffodil Delight, Lucky Limeade, Real Red, Pacific Point and Pumpkin Pie (with the base of the light in Basic Gray) and punched with the Merry Minis trio punch. They are popped up on the front with Stampin' Dimensionals.
I used the piercing template to pierce a double line across the top of the Very Vanilla, then used my Gumball Green Marker to draw the Xs between the piercing.
I stamped the Christmas greeting from Seasonal Sayings in Gumball Green ink in the bottom right corner.
