French Foliage Poinsettia again!

I showed the stepped up version of a French Foliage Poinsettia card on my Saturday post HERE. I want to thank everyone for their nice comments…I enjoyed reading them! Now, I wanted to show you one that my Club members made last week. I showed how this could be their Christmas Card, even though it did require a little more cutting. It would be easily mailed since it doesn't have the bow and economical because I substituted home-made glitter paper for the pearls in case you need to make a LOT of them! Very demonstratable for demos…I've sold a lot of French Foliage stamp sets because of this card! I love using a predominantly fall stamp set to make a Christmas card!

I used many of the same elements. The base is Cherry Cobbler. I added a full layer of Jolly Holiday Designer Paper which would save time from cutting the panels like on the other version. I cut the Top Note from Old Olive and stamped Merry & Bright from the Bright Christmas stamp set in Basic Black.

I stamped 11 leaves from French Foliage with Cherry Cobbler on Real Red cardtock, then cut them out. I stamped two of the larger leaves in Old Olive on Old Olive cardstock and cut them out. (Great TV time activity for me!) I made the poinsettia by punching a 1 1/4 circle out of scrap paper and then adhering the leaf "petals" to it. Instead of the pearls for the centers, I made some glitter paper by inking up Daffodil Delight piece of cardstock with Versamark, then sprinkling on Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder and heat set it. Then I used a 1/4 circle punch to cut them out…it adds a little bling without the bulk! Or use the center of the Daisy die to make a bunch of circles at once!

I know I'll be making a few of these this Christmas! How about you?

Stamping 411 – French Foliage Poinsettia

It is time for another Stamping 411 sketch challenge! This one I decided to mix up the background a little bit and use 4 different patterns in the Jolly Holiday Designer Paper Pack to represent the background of the sketch.

I started with a base of Cherry Cobbler cardstock. On it, I layered Very Vanilla cardstock. Then I cut the four patterns from Jolly Holiday into 1" wide stripes and placed them on the Very Vanilla. I cut a Top Note from Old Olive cardstock and stamped Merry & Bright from Bright Christmas in Basic Black in the corner. I wrapped the Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding Ribbon around the back and made a bow for the front.

For the Poinsettia, I stamped the leaf from Stampin' Up!'s French Foliage 11 times with Cherry Cobbler Classic Ink on Real Red cardstock and cut them out. I used the larger leaf and stamped it twice with Old Olive Classic Ink on Old Olive cardstock. I punched a 1 1/4 circle from scrap paper and began adhering the petals to the circle…back row along the edge and then filling in closer to the middle of the circle on top. I added Pearls to the center for some extra bling…and three graduated sizes along the top of the Top Note diecut. I used Stampin' Dimensionals behind the circle for the Poinsettia and also popped up the Old Olive leaves.

French Foliage – Create with Connie and Mary Challenge

OK…it is time for another Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge. EVERYONE is welcome to make their creation based on this week's sketch and upload it to InLinkz over on the Create with Connie and Mary website!

On the Create with Connie and Mary subscription website, we are working with French Foliage and Day of Gratitude this week! So I decided to make my card continuing on with that theme! If you haven't joined yet, it's not too late! See more information at the bottom of this post!

Here is my take on the above sketch!

I used a color on here that I haven't used in AGES…Bravo Burgundy. Although, it actually was a mistake! I meant to pick up Riding Hood Red! My base card is More Mustard. I ran the Old Olive thru the Big Shot with the Scallop Square Die. I had a couple pieces of the French Foliage double-time stamping backgrounds already made and on my desk, so I cut one to size and layered it on Bravo Burgundy. The colors used were Old Olive, More Mustard, Cajun Craze and Bravo Burgundy. Next I cut a strip of Bravo Burgundy and ran it thru the Big Shot with the Square Lattice Impressions Folder. The leaf is from the Leaves #2 Die and embossed with the Finial Press Impressions folder. I rubbed some Bravo Burgundy around the edges and across the raised area for a little contrast. Finally, I stamped Thankful Thoughts of You from Grateful Greetings in Bravo Burgundy Ink on Old Olive and made a pennant from it. I added a Neutrals Designer Button with Linen Thread to tie the two pieces together. I am pretty happy with how it turned out!

Stamping 411 – French Foliage

I'm getting a double whammy with this card! I originally made this one for my Stamping 411 sketch challenge and liked it so well I adapted it slightly for my Stamp Clubs this week! Didn't that make it easy to plan? Here is the sketch I used…

And here is the card…

I started with double-time stamping with Stampin' Up's French Foliage stamp set on the Very Vanila cardstock with More Mustard, Old Olive, Cajun Craze, Cherry Cobbler and Early Espresso Classic Inks. I then cut it up into the 1 1/2 x 4 sections, and sponged around the edges with Early Espresso Ink. They are layered onto Early Espresso cardstock. I used the Timeless Trim die (LOVE it!) along the front as an accent with Cajun Craze cardstock and a couple Antique Brads to hold it in place.. The base card is Old Olive and I added three more Antique Brads along the top.

I used the Leaves #2 die and cut one of the leaves from Old Olive and ran it thru again with the Finial Press Impressions Folder. I added a knotted bow of Early Espresso Taffeta Ribbon on the front with the Mini Glue Dot. Finally, I stamped Happy Birthday in Early Espresso on Very Vanilla, then punched with the Small Oval punch, layered on a Cajun Craze Large Oval and finally the Early Espresso Scallop Oval punch.
